Saudi Arabia and France have launched a pivotal three-day UN conference aimed at advancing international recognition of Palestinian statehood. 00:00Saudi Arabia and France have opened a three-day conference at the United Nations

00:04with the aim of recognizing Palestinian statehood.

00:07The conference began on Monday, a few days after French President Macron announced

00:10that Paris would officially recognize the Palestinian government in September.

00:15In this regard, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barot said that the conference

00:19would also serve as a platform for other European countries to recognize Palestinian statehood

00:24without clarifying which countries he was referring to.

00:26Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud

00:31said that the Kingdom was seeking World Bank approval to transfer $300 million to Gaza and the West Bank

00:37to address the serious humanitarian crisis in the territory.

00:41The talks are co-shared by 16 other countries and delegations,

00:45including the United Kingdom, Ireland and the European Union.

00:48Peace is possible.

00:51We want to build an alternative to the permanent state of war in the region

00:55and this alternative must go through the to-state solution, Israel and Palestine,

01:00living in peace and security.

01:03This is France's historical position and it is the only possible path.
