00:00Ladies and gentlemen, it is my absolute privilege to welcome you here to the grand opening of the new course
00:08and the launch of the Greatest 36 Holes.
00:18It has been my distinct pleasure for the best part of nearly two decades to work with the Trump family
00:25on delivering the vision of one man who determined many years ago when others said that it was not possible
00:32and it could not be done and he determined that he could and he would and he has developed
00:39the Greatest 36 Holes in golf here in the home of golf.
00:42For almost 20 years, a great many of you are in the grandstand today, have participated and supported
00:56and contributed to our journey. It's been something to behold and we are greatly honoured,
01:03so many of you have travelled from across the globe to be with us here this morning.
01:07We appreciate you. Thank you. There are too many people in the auditorium that I would like to thank
01:12and we'll get the chance to do that later.
01:15But I would like to introduce to the T the two men that I've been working with alongside their father,
01:22Donald J. Trump, is Eric Trump and Don Trump Jr.
01:56Well, this day has been a very long time coming, everybody.
02:25What started as truly a passion project for my father, 2007, 2009, we started the old course.
02:33He had one goal and that's to build the greatest 18 holes anywhere in the world and I saw him
02:39and I watched him at the time. He put every ounce of his heart and his soul and his effort into finding
02:45the best piece of land, to creating the greatest property, to build the greatest clubhouse,
02:50to shape the dunes and build something that's truly, truly exceptional.
02:54And he went off to do larger things and that's save the free world, save the United States of America.
03:01And I can just tell you on behalf of our entire family, on behalf of every single one of us in the Trump organization,
03:06we wanted to continue his legacy.
03:08And so like he did in 2009, I've put every single ounce of my heart and soul integrating a compliment to the first course.
03:17We wanted this to be the greatest 36 holes anywhere on earth and there's no question.
03:22There's no question that that's been achieved.
03:25This course is remarkable.
03:27This course, you will feel our heart and soul in it.
03:29You will feel our passion.
03:30You will feel the dedication.
03:31You know, nothing was left.
03:34Nothing was left out.
03:35We had an unlimited budget and we exceeded it.
03:38You know, this was his Mona Lisa.
03:40And my father's always said, he always said, you know, some people really appreciate the painting on the wall.
03:44You know, the beautiful, and he never did, right?
03:46For him, you know, creating this, right?
03:49These beautiful sculpting the dunes, sculpting the land.
03:52That was always his painting.
03:53And so I really hope today that we honor the greatest man I know, our best friend,
03:59a person who's led this company for 30 years and now leads the most powerful nation in the world
04:05and is doing a hell of a job.
04:07I hope in his absence we really honor him today and it's an incredible honor to have him out here.
04:12Before I bring him to the stage, I want to bring our Greens crew because without Steve
04:16and our guys on the ground, this would not happen.
04:19Steve, come down here.
04:29This team is the absolute best anywhere.
04:35Their attention to detail, they are more meticulous than any team that you'll ever meet.
04:40And that's also true of the construction team who put this together with Amy, with Easy
04:45and with Jamie and with Claire and with Christian and with also the famous Dr. Martin Ebert.
04:52It was a team of the best people in the entire world.
04:54And again, when you get out there, you're going to see something that's truly second to none.
04:57And so without further ado, we owe this course to a remarkable person, a remarkable man,
05:03a person that we all love incredibly much.
05:06And he's going to come down here and we are going to cut this beautiful ribbon.
05:10And we're proud of him.
05:11Our family's proud of him.
05:13Our nation's proud of him.
05:14I think the entire world is proud of him.
05:15And I think he's going to be incredibly proud of this amazing masterpiece that we created here today.
05:20So the president of the United States, ladies and gentlemen.
07:02Well, good.
07:32Well, that is a beautiful sound and we want to thank them.
08:01What talent and you have young ones and you have a little older ones and they're going
08:07to be the young ones are going to be doing that for 60 years, just like the little older
08:11ones are doing.
08:12And I want to thank them very much.
08:14Great group.
08:15Heard them last night.
08:16I also want to thank your first minister who's here, John, would you stand up?
08:21John Swinney, who's a terrific guy and loves golf and loves the people of this country.
08:28And we really appreciate it.
08:29You're really a very special guy.
08:31Thank you very much for everything, John.
08:33My son, Eric, has worked so hard on this and it's been truly a labor of love for him.
08:39And we started with a beautiful piece of land, but we made it much more beautiful.
08:43And the area has given us really, really welcomed us.
08:48If you remember at the beginning, it wasn't quite a welcome, but it wasn't bad.
08:54But with time, they've liked us more and more now.
08:56They love us.
08:57We love them.
08:58They've really put it out and they know how good this whole complex is.
09:02It's Trump International.
09:03We have the first course, which we call the old course.
09:07And the second course, which we call the new course, because that's the best way to describe anything else gets too complicated.
09:14They don't know which is which, but they know the old and the new.
09:17And it's going to be something very special.
09:19And the big question is which is going to be better if there's such a thing, because we've had such great ratings on the first.
09:26I don't know if you can match them on the second, but the second should be every bit as good.
09:31The land is of equal quality right on the North Sea.
09:34And it's going to be really it's going to be great.
09:38I look forward to playing it today.
09:39We'll play it very quickly.
09:40And then I go back to D.C. and we put out fires all over the world.
09:44We did one yesterday.
09:45As you know, we stopped the war, but we stopped about five wars.
09:49So that's much more important than playing golf.
09:53As much as I like, it's much more important.
09:55I want to just thank Sarah Malone for having been with us right from the beginning.
10:00She was young and not experienced.
10:02Now she's still young and very experienced.
10:05So I just want to thank you.
10:07And my and my son, Don, for for being with us all the way.
10:15He's always been with us.
10:16And he's a great guy.
10:17And he's got some great golfers in the family, Kai.
10:20And he's got one right over there, that little one.
10:23She may be one of the most talented in the whole family.
10:26She's something special, right?
10:28So that's Chloe.
10:30Chloe, you'll be reading about her someday, walking down the 18th Hall of some great course,
10:35I think, right?
10:36She's very talented, actually.
10:38So I just want to thank everybody.
10:40This has been an unbelievable development.
10:43The land, they said it couldn't get zoned.
10:45It was an impossibility.
10:46And Sean Connery said, let the bloody bloke build his golf course.
10:51Once he said that, everything came into line.
10:54John and I were talking about it last night.
10:56Everything came into line.
10:57And I want to thank, by the way, the prime minister was here last night and was really
11:01very gracious and loves the place, loves the area.
11:05So I just want to thank him very much for coming.
11:07And we gave him a little preview.
11:10And it was really very nice.
11:11And we just signed a very big deal, as you know, with the European Union, but also with
11:17the United Kingdom.
11:19The United Kingdom was a week before.
11:21And it's a very big deal and a great deal for the country.
11:24And it's a great deal for everybody.
11:26So I just want to thank him and everybody that worked so hard on us.
11:30They've been trying to get it done for 12 years.
11:32We got it done.
11:33So somebody did a good job.
11:35So I just guess we're going to be hitting a couple of balls and we're going to play the
11:39round.
11:39And Laura, I want to thank you with the head of the Republican Party for during the election,
11:44which was the time they counted.
11:45And she was fantastic.
11:48And Ron and Larry, thank you very much.
11:50And everybody, we just had tremendous, tremendous support from everybody, especially the family.
11:56These are very hard to build and you won't see them built anymore.
12:00You'll probably never see another course built in the dunes, not dunes like this.
12:04To the groundskeepers who I know so well from, number one, the first thing I said, which is
12:09better, the old or the new?
12:11And they were unable to give me an answer.
12:12They actually meant it, but great job you've done with your course superintendent, who's
12:17been here for a long time.
12:19And we just want to thank you.
12:20And to all of our friends, to all of our great friends, thank you very much.
12:24So I'll be playing quickly and then I'll be heading back.
12:27And I look forward to that, but I really look forward to playing.
12:30So thank you, everybody.
12:31And thank you to the media.
12:32The media has been terrific, believe it or not.
12:35I didn't use the, see, I didn't use the word fake news one time, not one time.
12:39Today, they're not fake news.
12:41Today, they're wonderful news.
12:42But I just want to thank you.
12:44They've treated us really well and they respect what we've done, really, at a level that you
12:50rarely see nowadays.
12:51So I really very much appreciate it.
12:53And we're going to go out and we're going to have a good time.
12:55Thank you, all of the dignitaries and all of my friends.
12:59It's going to be a special day and it's going to be a special year and it's going to be a
13:03special decade.
13:04And we're going to make all of our countries strong and great and really wonderful again.
13:09And that's happening and it's happening very fast.
13:11And we love Scotland.
13:14You know, my mother was born here and she loved it.
13:16She would come back here religiously once a year during the summers with my sister, Marianne,
13:21and sometimes my sister, Elizabeth.
13:23But they would come here religiously.
13:26And Stornoway, that's serious Scotland, by the way.
13:30There's no doubt about that.
13:31So the Isle of Lewis.
13:32I want to just thank everybody and have a good time today.
13:35Play well.
13:37Enjoy yourselves.
13:37And many, many years.
13:39We'll see each other many, many years.
13:40Thank you very much, everybody.
13:47And ladies and gentlemen, before we cut the ribbon, we want to present something to a very,
13:51very special person, a person who's truly become a member of our family.
13:54And that's Sarah Malone.
13:55She's dumped 16 years of her life into this incredible property.
13:58She's built every inch alongside of the entire family.
14:01And there's no one more deserving of this than her.
14:04She's truly, truly become a friend, family, and a person we love very much.
14:09So I know she's going to get emotional.
14:11I can see the lips.
14:11But you deserve every moment of this incredible day.
14:14Not only are we doing this ribbon cutting, not only are we doing a presidential visit,
14:18we're also doing the Legends Tour.
14:19We're also doing the DP World Tour, back-to-back.
14:21I think Guy will tell you that's the first time in history that you've ever had two tournaments
14:26playing in back-to-back weekends on the same course.
14:28So you're a rock star.
14:30We love you.
14:30We appreciate you very much.
14:31And this is for you, Sarah.
15:09Everyone here and everyone everywhere.
15:12We have a world that's had some conflict, but we've ironed out a lot of it.
15:18We're going to have a great and peaceful world.
15:20On a much smaller scale, this will be a tremendously successful place,
15:25a place where people can come and enjoy life.
15:28And it's very special.
15:29So I hope everybody in Scotland and well beyond Scotland enjoys it for many, many years to come.
15:37Let's go.
15:38One, two, three.
16:02If you're just now tuning in to Live Now from Fox, you're getting that live look out in Scotland this Tuesday morning.
16:26We just saw in real time as President Donald Trump joined alongside his family there.
16:31I had that official ribbon-cutting.
16:33President Donald Trump opening a new golf course bearing his name in Scotland this Tuesday,
16:38capping that five-day foreign trip designed around promoting his family's luxury properties and playing golf.
16:46That official ceremonial ribbon-cutting happening.
16:49We're learning this is the first-ever round to take place at the new Trump course in the village on the northern coast of Scotland.
16:57It was mostly built around golf and walking the new course before it officially began.
17:01We also saw the commander-in-chief as he played a few rounds.
17:06We see fireworks now erupting.
17:08All right, kind of hard to hear the fireworks there in the distance as YMCA is playing loudly there on the screen.
17:26But pretty cool to see as it erupted there in red, white, and blue to honor the commander-in-chief and his family visiting Scotland.
17:34We're also learning from the Associated Press that billing itself, quote,
17:39the greatest 36 holes in golf.
17:41The Trump International Golf Link Scotland course is hosting a PGA Seniors Championship event this week,
17:48this after the commander-in-chief leaves.
17:50Signs promoting the event have been erected across the area, temporary metal signs guiding drivers onto the correct road.
17:58And golfers hitting the course at dawn this Tuesday as part of that event had to put their clubs through metal detectors.
18:04As you can imagine, a lot of security presence surrounding the commander-in-chief visiting Scotland as well as his family.
18:13Security sweeps will continue during the president's journey and trip there.
18:19And you can see the commander-in-chief swinging away, practicing his golfing skills.
18:24And, okay, he hit the ball there.
18:26And you see it traveling there in the distance.
18:29He looks back there at the camera like, what just happened?
18:32So we'll continue to follow President Donald Trump's golfing there in Scotland alongside his sons.
18:39It looks like he could be giving some more remarks.
18:41I'm going to pot up the audio to see if we can hear anything as long as it's not overshadowed by the music.
19:33And the USPGA champion Rich Beam.
20:17Mr. President, come and tell us about the course.
20:23Mr. President, what will you say next to Benjamin Netanyahu?
20:29We're working together with him and trying to get things straightened out for the world.
20:47It's been seven hours and 15 days.
21:00All right.
21:00So President Donald Trump departing the golf course there.
21:03It seemed like the media were about to ask him some questions, but he did not.
