The United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has released the first video of the experimental unmanned vessel USX-1 Defiant, developed under the groundbreaking No Manning Required Ship (NOMARS) programme.
Weighing 240 tonnes and measuring 55 metres in length, the Defiant was built by Serco at the Nichols Brothers Boat Builders shipyard in Freeland, Washington. Sea trials began in March 2025, marking a new chapter in military naval engineering.
