Minot, North Dakota – A potentially serious mid-air incident was narrowly avoided thanks to the quick actions of a Delta Connection pilot, who performed an "aggressive" manoeuvre to steer clear of a U.S. Air Force B-52 bomber.
The episode took place during flight DL3788, operated by an Embraer 175LR (registration N604CZ), travelling from Minneapolis to Minot on 19 July.
On social media, the captain was praised for the calm and composed manner in which he handled the stressful situation. One passenger remarked that the pilot’s detailed explanation helped to reassure both the crew and the rest of the passengers.
Despite the scare, the aircraft landed safely in Minot with no injuries reported. Delta and U.S. military officials have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
