00:24We've reached a deal on tariffs and trade with the United States.
00:30Today's deal creates certainty in uncertain times.
00:35It delivers stability and predictability for citizens and businesses on both sides of the Atlantic.
00:44This is a deal between the two largest economies in the world.
00:49We trade 1.7 trillion euros per year.
00:55Together we are a market of 800 million people and we are nearly 44% of global GDP.
01:04The preliminary deal struck in Scotland comes as a relief, especially as tensions mounted

01:21Despite a new EU-U.S. trade deal, tariffs on pharmaceuticals remain uncertain and unchanged for now,

01:40We've reached a deal on tariffs and trade with the United States.
01:46Today's deal creates certainty in uncertain times.
01:50It delivers stability and predictability for citizens and businesses on both sides of the Atlantic.
01:59But that certainty does not extend to the pharmaceutical sector, whose future remains unclear.
02:05While most goods will be subject to a 15% tariff,
02:08pharma companies will have to wait to know how this deal will affect them.
02:12The U.S. continues investigating pharmaceutical imports
02:17to determine whether they pose a threat to national security.
02:21Any potential tariffs will only be announced after that review is done.
02:25The European Commission has said they expect the U.S.
02:28to honour the informal understanding reached during negotiations of a 15% cap.
02:32So I believe that this commitment will be honoured, will be respected in this case as well.
02:43For now, nothing changes.
02:45But after the 1st of August, the future of pharmaceuticals remains undecided.
02:53Meta has said it will stop all advertisements about politics, elections and social issues
02:59on its platforms in the EU as of October, due to incoming legislation and political advertising.
03:05The U.S. social media company, which owns Instagram, Facebook, Threads and WhatsApp on Friday,
03:12said the EU's transparency and targeting of political advertising regulation,
03:18also known as TTPA, quote,
03:21introduces significant operational challenges and legal uncertainties.
03:26The EU's TTPA aimed at countering information manipulation
03:30and foreign interference in elections entered into force in April last year.
03:35But most of the provisions that Meta calls on workable requirements
03:39will apply fully from 10 October this year.
03:43The regulation comes amid several EU elections that have been targeted by disinformation.
03:49In December, Romania became the first EU country to cancel an election
03:53over foreign interference.

06:59and hasn't reached the population of over 2 million.
07:05Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said minimal aid would be allowed to enter Gaza
07:11after images of starvation drew international criticism.
07:14Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said no to the district,
07:17no we saw anything, no we saw anything, no we saw anything, no we saw anything.
07:20We saw any assistance from outside or from the wind or from anywhere,
07:22or from anywhere, or from anywhere, or from anywhere.
07:25Here we stand on the way where we don't see anything,
07:29or we got to get anything, here we stand on a storm like the flood,
07:33we waited for a storm in the storm, that we saw a storm in the storm.
07:37Israel has implemented daily 10-hour tactical pauses in parts of Gaza
08:06to allow for limited humanitarian access.

09:39The unbearable burden of global prices increases hunger in Africa and Asia,
09:51including the Middle East.
09:53According to State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World Survey,
09:57the so-called SOFI Report 2025,
10:00trade tensions, conflicts and climate change are the main causes of the world's food inflation.
10:04Still, the situation is quite alarming, especially in Africa and especially in the Middle East.
10:11I would say those are the two areas where we're seeing the numbers continue to increase.
10:15So it's a mixture between the conflicts,
10:17I would say some of the disruption or shocks because of economic or trade tensions,
10:22and also the climate shocks.
10:23So the three are the three main drivers.
10:25The proportion of the population facing hunger in Africa surpassed 20% in 2024,
10:33affecting 307 million people,
10:36while in Western Asia an estimated 12.7% of the population
10:40or more than 39 million people faced hunger in 2024.
10:45Increasingly dire living conditions for small farmers and rural populations
10:49in the developing countries is a catalyst of economic migration flows.
10:53It's very clear that when people do not have the ability of really having a livelihood where they are,
11:01then they are forced to migrate.
11:03So there's obviously a relationship many times between migration,
11:07the ability of feeding themselves,
11:10the ability of also saving with that food production.
11:13Small-scale farmers produce one-third of the world's food
11:16and up to 70% of the food in Africa.
11:19They are essential to food supply and food security in their countries,
11:24yet they live in poverty and hunger.
11:2780% of the world's poorest live in the rural areas of developing countries.
