00:00And I think if you're a Democrat looking at the 2028 poll that you have, you would be a little worried because back in June, one of the big takeaways was that Vice President J.D. Vance was far and away the front runner for the GOP presidential nominee.
00:15So then this month you stacked him up against a few different Democrats.
00:20What did you find? How did he fare?
00:22Yeah. And Brittany, with this one, I want to toss out the usual caveats that it's very early.
00:30There are several years to go here, but we decided to test some of the top Democrats versus J.D. Vance.
00:37J.D. Vance being, as you said, the heir apparent to the presidential nomination.
00:43Of course, that could change in the future. But in a ballot test between Pete Buttigieg and J.D. Vance, we find Vance at 44, Buttigieg at 43.
00:56Buttigieg here performs the best out of the three candidates that we test.
00:59He's the only candidate here to win independent voters, albeit very narrowly, by about two points.
01:07When we tested Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, she's at 41 percent versus 44 percent for Vance.
01:15And then Newsom does a little bit better with 42 percent versus 45 percent for Vance.
01:20So I think the overall picture here is that some of these Democrats have their work cut out for them if they hope to win the nomination, A, and B, take on J.D. Vance or the eventual Republican nominee.
