On "Forbes Newsroom," Emerson Pollster Matt Talgia discussed a new poll showing "threats to democracy" was the second most important issue for voters.
Transcript
00:00Ever since you and I have started talking over a year ago in the lead up to the 2024 election,
00:05the top issue for voters was the economy. What are the top issues now and how have
00:10they changed in the past six months since President Trump took office a second time?
00:16And so, Brittany, the economy continues to be the top issue for voters, 31 percent.
00:23That's followed by threats to democracy at 23 percent. So that's where we've really seen a shift.
00:30Over the past, say, six months, even a year, we saw just before the election that that threats to
00:36democracy number was rising a bit. And it has risen further since then, up now to the second spot in
00:42the top issues list. And this is largely driven by Democrats. We do see that it's the second place
00:48issue for independents, but it is the top issue for Democrats right now.
