00:00Would you fly, fly away?
00:02Is the picture-perfect country town.
00:06Beautiful scenery, tick.
00:09Quaint high street, tick.
00:12And now...
00:13Five luxury country estates.
00:18What's not so idyllic...
00:21Robbie!
00:22Is the situation unfolding in House 5.
00:26Where's Robbie?
00:28Robbie!
00:30This morning, Scotty's plumbers are in helping pipe up everything
00:33and they turned the water on thinking that they had caps on.
00:37They didn't have caps on.
00:38We've had a leak and now we're worried about the water seeping into the screed.
00:42If there's too much moisture in the screed,
00:44we won't be able to waterproof tomorrow because it needs to dry.
00:47But you know what?
00:48I made the initiative that morning to go get some floor core flute
00:50and actually tape down the floor
00:52just because I didn't want to damage the concrete.
00:55The good thing is, you've done such a good job protecting the screed.
00:58I'm hoping not too much water's gotten under it.
01:02Yeah, it's just...
01:04Oh, nice.
01:05This core flute stops 95% of the water.
01:08But there's a lot of water, so it's actually seeped in under the core flute.
01:12You know, that's actually absorbed some of it already.
01:14Yeah, I can see.
01:15It's thirsty, it's porous, and it's sucking up the water.
01:21It's a warm day.
01:22Hopefully we can dry it out, maybe even get a fan,
01:25get some air blowing onto it.
01:26Yeah.
01:28One thing after another.
01:29Yeah.
01:30It's our first week on the block,
01:31and you want to hit Waterproof Wednesday.
01:34If you don't Waterproof Wednesday,
01:35it just puts too much pressure on the tiler
01:37on Thursday and Friday to finish,
01:40and then the quality won't be there.
01:41Then there's pressure on the trays to fit off,
01:43and then you're not going to paint in time,
01:45so this could be disastrous.
01:49At the cafe,
01:50police officer Taz is still acclimatising
01:53to swapping his badge for the block.
01:56Can you do me one favour?
01:57Can you say the laws, like, what the policemen say
02:00when you arrest someone?
02:02OK, so you're not obliged to say anything?
02:03Anything you do say,
02:04we're recorded by my camera.
02:05I may be using evidence.
02:06Do you understand?
02:07We're amateur renovators.
02:09Getting there slowly?
02:11Slowly, slowly.
02:12No stress levels?
02:13All up?
02:13Oh, no, stress levels to the roof.
02:14You just got to look.
02:15We've got to look like you know what you're doing.
02:17We bought our stock standard house
02:18through a stock standard builder,
02:20and then from there,
02:22we changed rooms.
02:23We tried our DU...
02:25D...
02:26You were going to say DUI.
02:27No, I wasn't going to say it.
02:28You were...
02:29So, DUI, is that a police term?
02:33Yes.
02:34Driving under the influence.
02:36So, are you good at DUI or DIY?
02:39I'm good at D...
02:40IY.
02:41I need something to be able to...
02:50Yeah, we need seahorses.
02:53So, what are they called?
02:55Seahorses.
02:57What does this say?
02:58I was so close.
02:59That's not bad.
03:00They're called speed horses,
03:02and I call it a seahorse.
03:05Wow.
03:06There might have come a time where I'm, you know,
03:11calling something the wrong tool
03:13or using the wrong terminology for something.
03:15Like, you know, I was doing the talk, doing the talk,
03:17and then I said, like, I was like, you know,
03:19point, bark, and orders.
03:21Boys, we need vanilla boards, and we need them now.
03:26They're called villa boards.
03:29I think it's gone around the whole side at this point, hasn't it,
03:32that you're calling it vanilla board?
03:33Vanilla boards.
03:40Taz may have more experience
03:41negotiating with criminals than carpenters.
03:44Couple of buckets.
03:46For what?
03:48Who knows?
03:49But he and partner in crime, Brittany,
03:51are catching on quickly,
03:52with their main bathroom taking shape.
03:55Oh, my God, look at the skyline.
03:58Oh, that is going to be amazing.
04:01Yeah, very happy.
04:02This is our single weapon.
04:04This is our curved shelf
04:08that we're going to have in our bathroom.
04:09It's just come off the truck from Truecore to a stoke.
04:12Somehow all of this is going to make a curved wall in our bathroom.
04:17The curved shower shelf will encapsulate the bath and shower,
04:21tiled floor to ceiling,
04:22the fluted glass shower screen,
04:24and French-patterned tiles on the floor.
04:26It's all part of their modern, organic, luxury style.
04:31Modern, organic, luxury.
04:33Mole.
04:33I like mole.
04:34Mole?
04:35Why, so you can call me a mole?
04:36Yeah.
04:42Then there are Victorian locals, Emma and Ben.
04:44You're kicking gold?
04:49Oh!
04:52We've renovated seven bathrooms before.
04:54No, I think it's more than that.
04:56Wow, okay.
04:57We've renovated...
04:58No, it's seven.
04:59Seven.
05:00None in a week, though.
05:03With seven bathrooms under their belt,
05:05they know Villa Board when they see it.
05:08It's fair to say this reno is proving to be a piece of cake for them.
05:12Oh, see that?
05:13That's our little niche wall.
05:14For starters, they've got two Truecore steel secret weapons
05:17already installed.
05:19Oh, that's a seat.
05:20That's so good.
05:22That's sick.
05:23But as soon as I saw the vanity that I wanted,
05:27that set the theme,
05:28and then I built the rest of the room around that.
05:30Nice.
05:31Emma's curved stone-top walnut vanity
05:33will contrast the natural grey stone and green feature tiles.
05:37And they're going with a back-to-wall bath
05:39opposite the shower seat and niche wall.
05:42I'm thinking greens for the bathroom
05:44and maybe for the overall vibe of the house
05:46because I really want to bring the outside in
05:49and a bit of nature, a bit of Daylesford.
05:52A really luxurious, high-end bathroom.
05:57House 2's marketing analyst, Gann,
05:59has headed to Beacon for bathroom lights.
06:02So we need lights...
06:04Beautiful.
06:04..next to our double vanity.
06:05Ooh, I love these lights.
06:08The brushed bras and this beautiful, like,
06:11marble, natural stone look to the globe is perfect
06:14and really vibes of our bathroom.
06:16It also gives you quite a good level of functional light
06:19for your face, for your make-up, your shaving
06:21and that type of stuff.
06:22Amazing.
06:23See you next time.
06:25See you, right.
06:25Bye.
06:26Can is embracing her role as designated shopper.
06:33Which is great because the on-site role really suits Han,
06:37Can's girlfriend of one year.
06:40My dad had a renovation business.
06:42So I've been on the job site for as long as I can remember.
06:45I remember I was, like, seven years old
06:47and he'd be, like, go and, like, rip that bathroom out
06:49and I'd go and do it and feel the skips.
06:52He's taught me everything.
06:53And, yeah, I am my best when I'm on the tools.
06:56We've got the Skylight team here,
06:58creating curved arches in the skylight.
07:01We're trying to go for a round curved effect.
07:03It's happening.
07:04It looks mint.
07:05What have I walked into?
07:09There's a bit going on, but not with Han on my team
07:12and all the team we've got here.
07:13I've no doubt we'll make it by Sunday.
07:15We wanted to set the tone for the rest of the house
07:18with this room.
07:19The design of our bathroom is a tranquil sanctuary
07:23with lots of rounded curves that make you feel at ease and peaceful.
07:28The curves will be echoed in the vanity,
07:30the mirrors, the shower wall
07:32and even in the form of an arched doorway.
07:34We've concealed hinges.
07:37We wanted to do secret doors in the house.
07:40We were just spitballing ideas
07:42and it was like, all right, let's make a secret arch door.
07:45Don't know how we're going to do it.
07:47If we can do a hidden arch door, that'll be sick.
07:50How much of an arch,
07:51like, similar to what your shaving cabinet's going to apply?
07:53Yeah.
07:53That's the sort of stuff that I'd want to do, like, get onto now
07:56because I'll have to frame out the arch and stuff here.
07:58Yeah.
07:59Like, you're going to have to arch your tiles
08:00because you're tiling up this wall as well,
08:02which is fine.
08:03You've just got to cut...
08:03Cut radiuses into your tiles, yeah?
08:06Throw on spanners.
08:08If you can see it, dream it,
08:11why not do it, right?
08:17I went to Beacon.
08:19Yep.
08:20Britt and I travelled together,
08:21my little passenger princess.
08:22Ah.
08:23Do you want me to go back?
08:24No.
08:24No, no.
08:25You can have one as soon as you get home.
08:28It's funny.
08:28I offered to drive in the beginning
08:30and then now I think it's sort of a given
08:33that I'm just driving.
08:34But anyway, I'm OK with driving.
08:37I just keep thinking, like,
08:39a little bit of our recent motto was, like,
08:41we can do hard things.
08:42Like, this isn't saving a life.
08:44Like, this is building a house.
08:46This is not life or death.
08:47Yeah.
08:47We can do it.
08:48Yeah.
08:49We just say that.
08:50We just have to be resilient and just, you know...
08:53Yep, we're resilient.
08:54We can do this.
08:54Yep.
08:55I feel straight off the bat
08:57that we'll be close with Taz and Britt.
08:59Mum and Dad, same as us.
09:01They've got kids at home.
09:02Going through the same sort of thing, I guess.
09:04Yeah.
09:05Also missing your kids.
09:06Yep.
09:07Yeah, that's something you're automatically
09:09having in common.
09:13Oh, is that maps?
09:15Good morning.
09:17I actually didn't have any idea
09:19what I wanted to do for lighting.
09:23I'd send you a plan.
09:25Of what?
09:25I had a plan.
09:26I had a plan, but I didn't know
09:27what I wanted it to look like.
09:30Where are you at?
09:32Still...
09:32Still working on it.
09:34Oh, really?
09:35I knew what I want.
09:36I was like, bang, bang, bang, bang, let's go.
09:37Oh, you were...
09:38You're yesterday's me.
09:40Yeah.
09:40Picking tiles?
09:41Piece of cake.
09:42Going to Rhys, picking my tapware?
09:44Piece of cake.
09:45But picking lighting, that was hard.
09:47The reason Alicia is having such a hard time picking lights
09:50is because yesterday she selected a huge vanity.
09:55I'm...ing bricks that I've ordered a vanity too big.
09:57Rather than swap it for a smaller one
09:59because the door was bumping into it,
10:01they decided instead to move the vanity
10:04closer to the shower wall.
10:06So due to the oversized vanity and mirror
10:08being right up against the shower wall,
10:10there'll be room for strip lights
10:12but no feature lights
10:14on the left-hand side of the mirror.
10:17Judges' perspective, right?
10:18When they do come in...
10:19Yes, that's what counts.
10:20They're going to walk in, look at the vanity
10:22and they're going to be like,
10:23where is the feature?
10:24Right?
10:25My vanity's the feature.
10:26True, true, true, true, true.
10:28I assumed you've picked out a lovely vanity,
10:30but a lot of the time
10:31they are picky about your wall lights.
10:32Yeah, I know.
10:33Right?
10:33So, like, these would be beautiful,
10:35but we don't have the room to place them.
10:37Mm-mm.
10:38I'm just worried now it's going to be too basic.
10:42I didn't think lighting would be an issue.
10:44I just thought you'd go in and pick some lights,
10:46but there's a whole lot that goes to it.
10:48It is quite a...
10:50situation.
10:52But that's the block, right?
10:54That's...I'm learning.
10:56Oh, literally.
10:57I'm so far out of my depth here.
10:59As far as week one errors go,
11:12Gold Coast farmer Leesha has made a big one.
11:15She's refused to change the size of her vanity
11:18to a smaller one,
11:19which means it now sits right up against the wall,
11:22leaving no room for feature lights
11:24on either side of the vanity mirror.
11:27Oh, literally.
11:27I'm so far out of my depth here.
11:34Hello.
11:36Hello.
11:36We're in trouble.
11:38I don't know if you want to hear that.
11:40Well, I can't have any pendants.
11:43Like, it's literally downlines and strip light,
11:45and that is it.
11:46Nothing suits the space.
11:48We're basic ****.
11:49We have...
11:50I don't think so.
11:51We're lighting our spotlight.
11:51No-one else will be doing that.
11:53You know what I mean?
11:53Well, they are now,
11:54because you just announced it to the whole of Beacon.
11:56Idiot.
11:57I don't think anyone heard.
11:58There's a way around everything.
12:00Yeah.
12:01You just gotta find the solution.
12:02We've got to put something in that dead spot.
12:04I think what you do
12:05is you pick a wall sconce
12:07and a pendant
12:08that could go in that little spot,
12:09because it's wired up for both,
12:10so it doesn't matter,
12:11and then you come back here
12:12and have a look at it in the space.
12:14Okay, I feel better.
12:15I'm not cranky anymore.
12:15If you think what's there go in that corner,
12:17you don't light whatever's in that corner.
12:19We've got to put something in that dead spot.
12:20Yeah?
12:20Yeah.
12:21Oh.
12:22There we are.
12:23So...
12:23Maybe we'll do two of those.
12:24Two loads.
12:25And we'll try circular ones as well?
12:27Yeah.
12:28Yesterday, Sunny and I maxed out
12:30phone calls to and from each other.
12:32Let's get home, Brit.
12:34Let's do it.
12:35When I panic,
12:36he's who I ring,
12:36so that's quite a bit of panicking.
12:38Next door.
12:42Santa has come early,
12:44and he's not wearing red.
12:45He's wearing neon.
12:46Hairdresser best mates,
12:48Robbie and Matt,
12:48are getting their heads around
12:50swabbing their hair dryers
12:51for hammer drills.
12:52Is this all for us?
12:54Really?
12:55Look.
12:56It's a vortex swivel bristle brush
12:59that connects to something fantastic.
13:02This is our first week.
13:04We have never built a bathroom.
13:06We have never renovated a bathroom.
13:07We're just two hairdressers,
13:09and I think people automatically thought
13:11these guys aren't a threat.
13:13That's a single.
13:14Maybe we should just start charging everything.
13:15Single, like you.
13:22We automatically became
13:24the fifth team in the order
13:25of bathroom week.
13:27And I...
13:27Straight away, instantly.
13:28I'm OK with that.
13:30Let them think what they're going to think.
13:33Matt and Robbie's vision for House 5
13:35is a contemporary country estate.
13:37Ah, look at the bath!
13:39And their main bathroom
13:40will include a multi-tone
13:41sesame feature tile,
13:43a dark wood vanity,
13:44a stone top
13:45and single basin,
13:47and a fluted shower screen
13:48separating the bath and shower zone.
13:51And, you know,
13:52I've got that superpower of being gay,
13:54so I know how to style things.
13:56I know how to pick good things.
13:58I've got great taste.
14:00I can style a tile.
14:02Superpower of being gay.
14:03It is a superpower.
14:05There's not many gays with bad fashion.
14:08Robbie?
14:10We're in trouble.
14:12Dan pulled us aside
14:13and we thought,
14:14you know what?
14:15What now?
14:16And he actually gave us
14:17some really positive news.
14:19It's all about the big idea
14:20that you want to do.
14:22Yeah.
14:23Yesterday,
14:24Matt and Robbie
14:24had a crazy idea.
14:26When I heard about
14:27all the houses being the same,
14:28call me crazy,
14:29but I want to build
14:29a wine cellar in the ground.
14:31We're talking about
14:33dropping in
14:33a shipping container
14:34into the ground.
14:36I thought it was crazy.
14:38There's three hurdles
14:39that we had to get ticked off.
14:41Today alone,
14:42we've just got two ticked off.
14:44Wow.
14:44The structural engineering of it.
14:46Second,
14:47the building surveyor.
14:49He's also said,
14:50yep,
14:50it'll be allowed.
14:52So the third one
14:53that we're waiting on
14:53is council for planning.
14:55Yeah, yeah, yeah.
14:56Okay?
14:56And I reckon we'll probably
14:57get an answer
14:58within the next few days.
14:59Wow.
15:00I'm pretty stoked.
15:01Yeah.
15:01Exciting times.
15:02So,
15:02one more to go.
15:03We need to probably win
15:04about 90 to 100 grand
15:06for us to pull off this gamble.
15:08We can do it, though.
15:09And it is a gamble.
15:10Like, it is a huge gamble
15:11because if it doesn't work,
15:12excuse my French,
15:13nos faisons l'amour.
15:14It's 100k,
15:15roll of the dice.
15:18Look,
15:18I'm not a gambling man,
15:19but I think we could
15:20do some with this.
15:23If we spend money
15:24on the cellar
15:25and not win anything,
15:28we're just going to have
15:29a mud hole.
15:31That is one hell of a gamble,
15:32guys.
15:33You know what?
15:33It's a gamble
15:34that could win us
15:34the show, though.
15:36Thank you, Dan.
15:37Cheers, mate.
15:37Appreciate it.
15:38Oh!
15:38Oh!
15:41You couldn't have staged
15:42that any better.
15:44What?
15:45She's done like a pirouette.
15:55I think we need
15:56one of these in the salon.
15:58This site is a full
16:00construction site,
16:01so we have tools down
16:02and then we have to be
16:03off at a certain time.
16:04Every night,
16:05the construction site
16:06officially closes.
16:08Tonight,
16:08lockout time is 8pm,
16:10and tomorrow being
16:11waterproof Wednesday,
16:12will be 10pm.
16:15Okay.
16:17It is good to stop
16:18and then leave it
16:19for tomorrow
16:20and start fresh.
16:21And I guess it gives
16:21everyone a level playing
16:23field.
16:23It does.
16:23Like, everyone's got
16:24the same hours.
16:25We're done for the day.
16:26Well done, boys.
16:27Well done, Hank.
16:28Looking very good.
16:29Cheers.
16:30Thanks so much.
16:31What have they
16:31drinking, WA?
16:33Oh, everything.
16:36Anything that's worse?
16:37Anything that's cold.
16:39Good job today.
16:42Done.
16:55I feel it almost
16:56is like a bit
16:57like school camp.
16:59Oh, that skill.
17:00Well, in our caravans,
17:01it's like a little community.
17:03Would you like something
17:03to eat?
17:05Yes.
17:05Surprise?
17:06Something delicious.
17:08All fed meals are delicious,
17:09so you're going to get
17:10something good.
17:12We've got pork noodles
17:16or chicken veg.
17:18Oh, I'll do chicken veg
17:20potatoes, please.
17:21What's your...
17:22I love the fed meals.
17:23They're so good.
17:24We love it here.
17:25I never expected to like
17:27every person here
17:28and to have that
17:29camaraderie.
17:30Oh, what do you got here,
17:32eh?
17:33What's that?
17:33I'll eat some bickies,
17:34some Monte Carlo's
17:35from Arnett's for you.
17:36Oh, well, I love a Monte.
17:40It's like six weeks time
17:41and you're like,
17:41blah, blah, blah, blah.
17:43Who do you reckon
17:44the bickies is going to be?
17:46I don't know.
17:46Let's ask Australia.
17:48Yeah, if you had to say.
17:49If I had to say...
17:50Do not bite.
17:51I'm not biting, mate.
17:52I'm not biting.
17:53The fishing line is out.
17:54I know.
17:54The fishing line is out,
17:55but do you know what?
17:55I'm on a hand reel
17:56at the moment
17:57and there's nothing
17:57going to be caught here
17:58besides a little guppy.
18:09How are you this morning,
18:10Raffi?
18:10Yeah, good.
18:11Good.
18:12Just, um,
18:13cheat up for another
18:14day on the block.
18:17Another 20 hurdles
18:19to jump across
18:19and then get thrown
18:21back across
18:22and then probably
18:22jump over them again.
18:23And it's actually
18:24waterproof,
18:25so I was down.
18:25It is waterproof
18:26Wednesday today,
18:27which
18:29still,
18:31I think,
18:32on track for.
18:34It just depends
18:35about
18:35how long
18:37plaster takes
18:37to dry
18:37the rest of it today.
18:39So,
18:39but yeah,
18:40I want to be waterproof
18:41in this afternoon
18:42sometime.
18:45See, it's hard
18:46when you only run up
18:47because
18:47you've only got
18:48one person to look at
18:49and that's me.
18:53Ah,
18:54waterproof Wednesday.
18:55For the uninitiated,
18:58this is the most
18:58crucial deadline
18:59in bathroom week
19:00because if you don't
19:01get at least one
19:02coat of waterproof
19:03on by the end
19:04of Wednesday,
19:05there's a good chance
19:06you won't finish
19:07charling
19:08and everything else
19:09by Sunday morning.
19:10I've made the decision
19:11to bring my
19:11waterproof in first thing
19:13and then to get him
19:14inducted,
19:15so it's an induction
19:16at seven.
19:17I'm thinking we're
19:18looking good for
19:18waterproof Wednesday,
19:19but I don't even know
19:20what stage we're
19:21actually even at.
19:22We don't have any
19:23experience.
19:23But feedback
19:24from the builders
19:24was we were ideally
19:25going to waterproof
19:26from lunchtime Wednesday.
19:28In a perfect world
19:29with no hold-ups
19:31and no stitch-ups.
19:32Morning.
19:34I had been told
19:35you need to be
19:36waterproofing
19:36at 5pm latest
19:38to be on schedule
19:39and I was like,
19:40cool, achievable.
19:42Major ticket items
19:43today, sheet up,
19:45get started on
19:46the waterproofing
19:46because it's
19:47waterproof Wednesday
19:47after all.
19:49Lots going on.
19:51Is anyone
19:51waterproofing today?
19:53I think so, maybe.
19:54We're hopeful, but...
19:55Wishful thinking
19:56is what we like to say.
19:58To be on schedule
20:00on waterproof Wednesday
20:01morning,
20:01you really need
20:02to have insulation
20:03ticked off
20:04and plastering
20:05well underway,
20:05which is the case
20:07in 5, 4, 3, 2.
20:14Arden, house one.
20:17Go away, mates.
20:17Getting there.
20:18Getting there.
20:19Seasoned renovators
20:20Emma and Ben
20:21are nowhere near plastering.
20:23Waterproof Wednesday
20:24and we were nowhere near.
20:27No.
20:28I'm working up a sweat.
20:29Look at this.
20:31Insulating?
20:31Insulating sweat.
20:32Oh, it's the worst job.
20:33It's so itchy.
20:34So it's mid-morning
20:36on waterproof Wednesday
20:37and in Emma and Ben's house
20:38we haven't done one inspection.
20:40So, getting quite concerned
20:41right now
20:42because I can't see them
20:43even waterproofing
20:44at all today.
20:45We're behind the eight ball,
20:46aren't we?
20:46I'm getting a little worried as well.
20:47You are getting a little worried?
20:48A little bit.
20:49Yeah, starting to get critical.
20:51We've renovated before
20:52but I don't think
20:53this block experience
20:54is like anything
20:54that we've ever experienced.
20:56To think that you have to do
20:57all that renovating
20:58in 12 weeks.
20:59In 12 weeks
20:59and only doing the room
21:01per week, you know,
21:02so you're assigned to, yeah.
21:03You've not got all the trades
21:04spread out through the house.
21:06Yeah, we've seen the show, Ben.
21:09Oh, there's a lot of work.
21:10Guys, I don't know
21:11if you know
21:11the format of the block.
21:13There's going to be a lot of work.
21:14We've got our work cut out for us.
21:16I mean, we'll push
21:17as hard as we can
21:18to waterproof.
21:20Hmm.
21:21So for waterproofing Wednesday,
21:22the cut-off
21:23for any trades on site
21:24is 10pm.
21:25Normally,
21:26your waterproofers
21:26could work a bit later.
21:28We don't have that this year,
21:29so these guys
21:30are in a world of pain
21:31right now.
21:35At the opposite end
21:36of the block
21:36in House 5,
21:37the problems
21:39just keep coming.
21:41I'm looking at that.
21:43That's going to be
21:44moisture content in that.
21:46There's a lot in that.
21:46It's too much.
21:47Yep.
21:48We had a little leak yesterday.
21:5099% of the water
21:52was picked up
21:53by the core fleet
21:53we put down on the floor.
21:55But yeah,
21:55this morning,
21:55it hasn't dried.
21:57That's why I suggest
21:57you get a fan yesterday
21:58and just keep it
21:59blowing on it.
22:01Yeah,
22:01we thought,
22:02you know,
22:02it'd be a warm day
22:04all day,
22:0430 degrees,
22:05and plus today,
22:06this would be pretty warm.
22:08House 5 still has
22:09a big wet patch
22:10on their screed.
22:11This is pretty critical.
22:13If the moisture's too high,
22:14we can't waterproof
22:15over that.
22:16And this may take
22:17all day to dry out,
22:18we just don't know.
22:20We had Tyler's
22:21waterproofers,
22:23probably six or seven
22:24labourers,
22:25waiting on
22:26very good money
22:27per hour,
22:28burning a hole
22:28in our pocket.
22:30We're a cappuccino,
22:30two dirties
22:31with one piccolo.
22:33McCafe are loving
22:34our builders.
22:35Oh, aren't they just?
22:36So now we're Wednesday.
22:36Tina's there
22:37whipping them all up
22:38a, you know,
22:38ice mocha,
22:39loka,
22:40latte situation.
22:42If that screed
22:43isn't dry,
22:45Robbie and Matt
22:46may not waterproof today,
22:47which is going to
22:48put them behind the eight ball.
22:49It all comes down
22:50to this one wet patch.
22:51On the Dalesford block,
23:01things are a little bit
23:02different in that
23:03they are exactly the same.
23:05The five floor plans
23:06are identical to the
23:07millimetre,
23:08which means that judging
23:09every detail is going
23:11under the microscope.
23:14Years before,
23:15you have a point of
23:15difference,
23:16and whereas this,
23:17with the same floor plans
23:18everywhere,
23:18it makes that,
23:20to have that point of
23:21difference,
23:21more of a challenge.
23:23It's what you do,
23:24that layout,
23:24and how you mix it up
23:26with your choices,
23:27that's what's going to
23:29set you apart from the rest.
23:30On the floor plan,
23:32marine bathrooms
23:33are on the west wing
23:34of the house,
23:34the same toilet,
23:36bath,
23:36and shower configuration.
23:38And the position
23:39of the shower head
23:40means that the showers
23:41all need to have
23:42a big enough screen
23:43to be compliant,
23:44because the 1500 millimetre
23:46splash zone
23:47would otherwise spill
23:49out of the wet area
23:50into the bathroom.
23:52And in house five,
23:54Robbie and Matt
23:55are making a feature
23:56out of their shower screen.
23:58We're going to have
23:59fluted glass
23:59coming out of 900.
24:01The boys have gone
24:02with a 900 millimetre
24:03wide shower screen
24:04so that all the spray
24:05from the shower
24:06is contained
24:07within the 1500 mill
24:08splash zone.
24:11Britt and Taz
24:12are also going
24:13with a shower screen.
24:14So my idea is
24:15that you walk in the door
24:16and you'd see
24:16a beautiful curved
24:17fluted vanity
24:18and then you'd also
24:20see the beautiful
24:20curved fluted glass.
24:23But the glass
24:24they've ordered
24:24is very narrow,
24:26meaning the splash zone
24:27will not be contained.
24:29Our builder, Colby,
24:31pulls us aside
24:32and says,
24:32we've got a big drama.
24:34What's up?
24:34Bit of a meeting?
24:35Yeah.
24:36What's happening?
24:37Issues, issues, issues.
24:38Issues?
24:39Britt and Taz
24:40have just figured out
24:41that where they've located
24:42their shower rows,
24:43the splash zone
24:44goes too far
24:45into the bathroom.
24:46It's going to be
24:47non-compliant.
24:49Solutions for us,
24:50I think,
24:50is we're going to have
24:51to fully enclose
24:52this area.
24:56Terrible.
24:57So we had either
25:00pretty much two options.
25:02We either enclosed
25:03the shower fully
25:04or the other option
25:05was we could move
25:06the shower head
25:07across a bit more
25:08to meet compliance.
25:10We don't want to
25:10enclose the whole bath.
25:11Otherwise,
25:12you've got to enclose
25:12the whole thing.
25:13I've got a lot of
25:13custom glass in that
25:14and I'm like,
25:15that'll look horrible.
25:16I'm glad our builder
25:17picked it up
25:17because it's a bit
25:18of a flaw,
25:19but an enclosed shower
25:20in such a small bathroom
25:21is going to look very
25:22how you going.
25:25Can we move it?
25:26Yeah.
25:27We're not going to have
25:28a non-compliant bathroom,
25:29are we?
25:30So it's not going to be
25:31the perfect bathroom
25:33that we had originally planned
25:34because now the shower head
25:35is going to be positioned
25:36a fair bit closer
25:37into that corner.
25:38You know,
25:38as long as you can
25:39deliver a compliant
25:41bathroom,
25:43we've got a chance
25:44at doing something special.
25:46Next door,
25:48Sonny and Alicia
25:49have opted to fully
25:50enclose their bath
25:51and shower.
25:53What's going on, mate?
25:54Door size and shower.
25:55Door size and shower,
25:56yeah?
25:57650.
25:59Is that all you got?
26:01Well,
26:02that's what we're
26:02thinking it would be,
26:03yeah.
26:04650's tight.
26:05650 opening?
26:07Can't have a 650 opening.
26:09I'm like,
26:09oh.
26:10750 feels ideal.
26:11Yeah.
26:12700 if you're tight,
26:13but they go less than 7.
26:14We're not being tight.
26:17Because I know
26:18the judges,
26:18they always look
26:20at the opening
26:21because she's our size.
26:22Absolutely.
26:23Yeah, right.
26:24No, I just wanted
26:25to ask a question.
26:25Is it going to work?
26:26Or are you...
26:27I don't know yet.
26:27I speak...
26:28I can't give you
26:29the answers all the time.
26:31Then Alicia's
26:32a bullet of red rag
26:33and she's like,
26:34what?
26:35Please don't make it 650.
26:36Well,
26:37we'll just speak to Brodie
26:38and see what the goes.
26:39He just asked me
26:40to find out about 650.
26:41Brodie,
26:42what are you thinking
26:44is going to be
26:44our door size?
26:46650 is what...
26:47all they can get
26:47with such short notice.
26:49650 is tight.
26:51The last thing you want
26:52is to be getting
26:52into your shower.
26:53Exactly.
26:54On the block.
26:55There's no hiding
26:56from anything.
26:57No.
26:57You've got a camera
26:58in your face
26:58in the first second.
27:00And don't forget
27:00this year,
27:01like the judge,
27:02because everything's the same,
27:03they're going to be
27:03looking at these things.
27:04You've got opinions
27:05left, right and centre,
27:06don't you?
27:06Yeah.
27:07And then we're trying
27:07to work out
27:08what our aim is.
27:09If you move that water point,
27:11500 mil,
27:12you don't need any of them.
27:13No shower screen.
27:15Well,
27:16it depends what you want to do.
27:16You either want
27:17a shower screen.
27:20Mm, okay, decisions.
27:22There'll be a point
27:22of difference
27:23no-one else has got.
27:26Beg your pardon?
27:27Can we tell them
27:27the last man to hold?
27:29I would prefer...
27:30Announcing time.
27:30Yes, I would prefer that.
27:36So now we're planning
27:37on getting rid
27:37of a shower screen.
27:44I remind Sunny,
27:45day and night.
27:47Yes, you make decisions
27:49on the fly,
27:50but these are also decisions
27:51that could affect
27:52our end game
27:53and our kids' end game
27:55and the whole reason
27:56we came here.
27:56I'm just not used to this
28:09working like this,
28:11you know what I mean?
28:11I don't work in the trade,
28:13so yeah,
28:13it's a bit overwhelming.
28:15I just don't want to fail.
28:15No, we just do
28:18what we can do
28:19and then the rest
28:20is in someone else's hands,
28:21so we do what we can do,
28:22right?
28:24That's all we do.
28:25The whole reason we're here
28:30is for our kids.
28:32Being away from them,
28:34we just want to be able
28:35to give our kids everything,
28:37so yeah, it means a lot.
28:40We sort of know
28:42everyone's got glass.
28:43If we don't,
28:44it's going to give us
28:44one point of difference
28:45might be what gives us 10 grand.
28:49That doesn't mean
28:49you can afford to pay your wages.
28:52I'm pretty sure
28:53we're going to be
28:53the only house without glass,
28:55so hopefully the judges
28:58will take that into consideration.
29:00I mean,
29:00it was supposed to be
29:01a wet area,
29:02so yeah,
29:03hopefully that will be
29:04our really big point
29:05of difference.
29:06In house five
29:16on the Dalesford block,
29:17Robbie and Matt
29:18are facing a major
29:19waterproofing Wednesday hurdle,
29:21a patch of concrete
29:22which just won't dry.
29:24The fan is working,
29:25but it's working slowly,
29:26so we just need to speed
29:27that process up.
29:29So what we're doing now
29:30is actually thinking
29:31outside the box.
29:32The plasters have got
29:32some accelerators,
29:33so we're going to sprinkle
29:34that on top.
29:34Hopefully that draws out
29:35some of the moisture.
29:36We were in all sorts
29:39of trouble.
29:39Should I just get
29:40a hairdryer?
29:42Hairdryers aren't going
29:42to work, mate.
29:43So we got out
29:45our blow dryers.
29:46Well, I'll tell you what,
29:47I don't think I'd be
29:48picking up one of these
29:48on the block.
29:58Okay.
30:00That's...
30:01Oh, there's a bit
30:02of heat on that.
30:03Yeah.
30:03It was just like
30:04being in the salon.
30:06Two hours like that
30:09and I reckon
30:09we're ready to go.
30:11Plead as.
30:11Enjoy.
30:12Thanks, Dan.
30:15We've got the moisture
30:16out.
30:17It's the only thing
30:18that works.
30:18Don't underestimate
30:19the hairdressers.
30:22Well, that's new.
30:24But I have heard
30:25that there's a clear
30:26frontrunner
30:26this waterproof Wednesday.
30:28here.
30:29Hi, how you doing?
30:30Ben, Scott.
30:32Nice to meet you.
30:32Ben, how are you?
30:33Hi.
30:34Good.
30:35Well, it's very tidy
30:36and clean
30:37and efficient in here.
30:38Yeah.
30:39I've just got to vacuum
30:40and then hopefully
30:40we'll get the tick off
30:41to start waterproofing.
30:42The fact that you've
30:43finished this
30:44is incredible
30:44and you're ready
30:45for waterproofing
30:46any second.
30:46You're killing it.
30:48Good to hear.
30:49High five there, Benny.
30:50Yeah, well done.
30:52Never doubted you.
30:53There you are.
30:55Scotty said that,
30:56yeah, like I've
30:56done an amazing job.
30:57She's...
30:58She's into it.
31:00It was nice
31:01getting good feedback
31:02to be fair.
31:04If a geologist
31:05can achieve that,
31:06I can't wait
31:07to see where the
31:08couple who've
31:08renovated seven
31:09bathrooms are at.
31:11Scotty!
31:12Hello!
31:13Welcome!
31:16What's that?
31:16What happened?
31:18Welcome to our
31:19lack of plastered
31:20bathroom.
31:21We had a few delays.
31:22We've been doing
31:23a lot of waiting.
31:24Yeah.
31:26We were worried,
31:27but...
31:27Worrying doesn't do
31:28much.
31:29Like, you can't...
31:29You're not going to
31:30worry your room
31:31into existence.
31:32You're not going to
31:33love what I'm going
31:33to tell you now.
31:34I've barred high
31:35pages from the
31:36series.
31:37Oh, no more high pages.
31:37You could pull
31:38the lever now, you know.
31:39You'd need it
31:39because it's going
31:40to be too easy.
31:41Everybody else is
31:42waterproofing.
31:43Oh, well,
31:44you can make an
31:44exception.
31:45High pages, no longer.
31:47Hmm.
31:47So, if we were worried
31:48about trades or
31:49anything, we can't
31:50just jump on high
31:51pages and pick from
31:52there.
31:52You've got to treat
31:53every minute like it's
31:54your last on the block.
31:55Yeah.
31:55I should have told you
31:56this on day one, but I
31:57forgot.
31:58Treat every hour
31:59like it's your last.
32:00Yes.
32:00Thanks, Scotty.
32:01I guess until you're
32:03actually doing it, you
32:03don't really know what
32:04it's going to be like.
32:06Interacting with all
32:06your trades and everyone
32:08on site as well.
32:09If it's just Ben
32:10and I at home doing a
32:11reno, it's just Ben
32:12and I.
32:13And the added having
32:14to do camera stuff on
32:15the side.
32:16Yeah.
32:16Yeah, it's a lot.
32:19Not just a reno.
32:22Right, T.R.
32:23We've got a little bit
32:23more sheeting to do and
32:25you're going to
32:25waterproof in about two
32:26hours, hour?
32:27Fingers crossed.
32:28That's the plan.
32:29You're well on track.
32:30Your tile are arriving
32:30tomorrow?
32:31Correct.
32:32First thing, five
32:32blokes.
32:33And they'll smash it
32:34out five blokes.
32:34Yep.
32:35And you know what?
32:36This bathroom is big
32:36enough to take five
32:38blokes.
32:38Sometimes a little
32:39small bathroom.
32:40You'd like that.
32:40The bathroom, mate,
32:45is big enough for five
32:47blokes.
32:48Maybe not the shower.
32:49Is that what you're
32:50thinking?
32:50Stop.
32:52Now, I've heard about
32:53probably the biggest
32:53gamble in block history.
32:57Scotty goes, mate,
32:58I've heard this whisper
32:59that you're going to
33:00have a wine cellar on
33:02the block.
33:03It's a big gamble.
33:04Huge.
33:05You start this now,
33:06you've rolled the doss,
33:07you're committed.
33:07Absolutely.
33:08You dug a hole.
33:09That's what we're like.
33:10You know?
33:11But you wanted to put it
33:11in.
33:11I heard it was a
33:12container.
33:13I don't think you
33:14should put a container
33:14in there.
33:15No.
33:15That wouldn't look
33:16good.
33:16It wouldn't work.
33:16Maybe we could sit
33:17down and you could
33:17give us a few.
33:18Yeah.
33:19This CSR product,
33:20AFS, and it's like a
33:22formwork that you dig
33:23the hole, build it,
33:24and then pour concrete
33:24in it, creates the
33:25walls, and then you
33:26pour concrete on the
33:27floor, creates the
33:28floor, and put a lid
33:29on top.
33:30We've got a temp fence
33:31wait to go, so as
33:32soon as we get the
33:32okay, we're going to
33:33fence up so no one
33:34can see it from the
33:34cafe over there.
33:35Because you've got a
33:36good view straight
33:36into our yard, we're
33:37going to keep it very
33:37secret.
33:38Very secret.
33:39I like that.
33:41If we get approved
33:42as wine cellar, we
33:45could win the block,
33:46mate.
33:46It's a game changer.
33:50Over the years, the
33:51sleeping conditions on
33:52the block have been a
33:53little uncomfortable.
33:54That is the most
33:55rancid thing I have
33:56ever seen in my life.
33:57There's dirt
33:58everywhere.
33:58There's dust
33:59everywhere.
33:59It's disgusting.
34:00It's not pretty.
34:01There's probably a
34:02corpse in there.
34:03Camping on a
34:06concrete slab in a
34:07waistline.
34:09It's just going to
34:09be rough.
34:13But all that has
34:14changed this year.
34:20Contestant's been
34:21treated to three
34:21months of luxury
34:22van life.
34:24Complete with
34:25custom made
34:26mattresses, thanks to
34:27snooze.
34:29Someone mentioned
34:30that Josh Gibson
34:31from Titanium
34:32Caravans was out
34:34giving demos down
34:35at the Caravan
34:36Park.
34:36I thought, could
34:37that be Josh
34:38Gibson?
34:40I was like, well,
34:41I'm heading straight
34:42there.
34:43Ben, Emma, how
34:44are you?
34:45What's going on?
34:46Spot on, Ben.
34:47It is indeed the
34:49Hawthorne AFL
34:50great in the flesh.
34:51Huge Hawks fan.
34:52Oh, good.
34:53Finally, there's
34:53someone with a bit
34:54of class.
34:55I didn't know who
34:56he was, but he was
34:57lovely and very
34:59attractive.
34:59I can do that.
35:05Flick it down to
35:06bring it out.
35:08He showed us
35:08through all the
35:09Titanium Caravan
35:10features.
35:11Like that.
35:12Switch it over.
35:13Oh, that rolls it.
35:14And then it's just
35:14going to roll up.
35:15Yeah, cool.
35:16Oh, how nice
35:16that.
35:18Did you hear a
35:19word Josh said?
35:22You can just grab it
35:23and pull it as tight
35:24as fast as you can.
35:25No.
35:27No, I didn't hear
35:28anything he said.
35:29Good job.
35:29Appreciate it.
35:31He was fangirling so hard.
35:32I was fangirling pretty
35:33hard.
35:36Is that a new flavor?
35:38There's a few
35:38different flavors.
35:41What else?
35:42See, I'm starting to
35:43feel better already.
35:44Yeah, see, I told you
35:45the retail therapy.
35:46It's going to help.
35:47This is what I do at
35:48home.
35:48I get upset.
35:48I go shopping.
35:49Yeah.
35:52I got in the car.
35:54I got out of here.
36:00Main Street, Dalesford.
36:01I haven't had a chance
36:02to get down here yet.
36:03It's been a massive
36:04morning for me.
36:04It's been very emotional.
36:06So, yeah, shopping
36:07makes me feel better.
36:10I'm looking for
36:11all things bathrooms.
36:13These sort of things
36:14is what I'm looking for.
36:15Just to, like,
36:16dress the bathroom.
36:18Bit of a back scratch.
36:19How good's this?
36:20Salted gin.
36:23Oh, no.
36:24Dishbrush.
36:25We're not at that
36:25stage yet.
36:28Who doesn't feel
36:29better after you go
36:30shopping?
36:31Bish certainly feels
36:32better after you go
36:32shopping.
36:33Yep.
36:35Back on site,
36:36it's nearing 5pm.
36:38And House 4's
36:39waterproofers aren't
36:41in House 4.
36:43So, I've just come home.
36:45I'm not happy.
36:47I've gone from up here.
36:48I'm back down here.
36:50Right now, we should be
36:51waterproofing your bathroom.
36:52Our waterproofers
36:54are stuck in induction
36:55because they don't have
36:56the correct certificate.
36:57They've been here
36:58since 1 o'clock.
36:59Yeah, I know.
36:59What time is it?
37:00It's 4.
37:00Quarter past 4.
37:01Quarter past 4.
37:02Yeah.
37:02We need someone
37:03to waterproof today.
37:05One way or another,
37:07I'm getting membrane
37:07on that floor.
37:08So, you can't get
37:23waterproofers on at the moment?
37:36No.
37:37Not at the moment?
37:37No.
37:38They haven't got their
37:39insurances?
37:40No.
37:40Our waterproofers are
37:41stuck in induction.
37:43Induction starts at 1.30.
37:45They're not out yet.
37:45It's 4.30.
37:47Other than me, like,
37:48insuring them myself,
37:49I don't know what
37:49I'm supposed to do.
37:50One way or another,
37:52I'm getting membrane
37:53on that floor.
37:54Well, I want to ring
37:55the boys.
37:57I just spoke to them
37:58probably about an hour
37:59behind us.
38:00They're probably paying
38:01their waterproofers
38:01to sit here.
38:02We can help pay that bill.
38:03Can you ring the boys?
38:04I'll ring that.
38:04And ask if this all fails.
38:07Can we...
38:08We need someone
38:09to waterproof today.
38:10Surely.
38:10Yeah, well,
38:11we're going to...
38:13Leish.
38:14Matt.
38:14Can I ask you a favour?
38:17She tried to steal
38:17my waterproofer.
38:19Got to look out
38:20for those Gold Coast couple.
38:21Oh, hello.
38:29Can I come in?
38:31Matt comes in
38:31with a negotiation.
38:33If you pick up his bill
38:35from when he arrived
38:37until when we need him,
38:40it's a yes.
38:42How long's he been here for?
38:44I don't know.
38:45A couple of hours.
38:46You can pay them
38:47for the whole time
38:48they've been sitting here
38:49waiting for us to get ready.
38:51No.
38:52All right,
38:53I need to get some snorros.
38:55Matt leaves.
38:56Taz is whispering his lips.
38:58How's it doing?
38:59It's up to you
38:59what you're doing with that.
39:01We just...
39:01Our biggest thing
39:02is not holding...
39:03You're not going to hold us up.
39:05Leish and Sonny,
39:06they're the best people.
39:08So they...
39:09We said,
39:09nah, look,
39:10we don't want to take them
39:10off your hands
39:11if it's going to affect you.
39:12How far off are you, though?
39:13Because...
39:13It could be an hour.
39:15They've helped us
39:15a lot more than we've helped them.
39:17Because you've got two blokes,
39:18so that's what you're saying.
39:19You could get started...
39:20You could get started
39:21and they could even cross over.
39:22So I'd rather you use us...
39:23Yeah, right, I gotcha.
39:24Because we're not going to pay you.
39:25We're not going to pay...
39:26You're not going to pay for our bloat.
39:27You're not paying for two, yeah.
39:28Then...
39:30Beep, beep.
39:30We're on our water proofers.
39:43Five hours later.
39:46But now we're ready to rock and roll.
39:49House 4 has water proofers on site.
39:51We're right now.
39:53With all water proofers on site
39:54and ready to go,
39:56one more hurdle
39:57before water proofing
39:58can officially start.
40:01GMAC's inspection.
40:04GMAC is like
40:05the head know-it-all
40:07of the whole of 9 and 6.
40:09So this is your shower.
40:10Yep.
40:11And that's the rest of the world.
40:13That has to be all taken off
40:15and redone.
40:16It's the man above Dan.
40:17He's the one that signs you.
40:18He's the one that signs you.
40:18He's the maker or breaker.
40:20That timber that you've exposed
40:22just can swell.
40:25Did Dan ask you
40:26to pull the insulation
40:26to pull it down?
40:27Yes.
40:28Well then that's what you've got to do.
40:30You don't want to
40:30piss him off
40:31because you're in trouble.
40:33I think you need to
40:34forget about
40:34winning a room this week
40:36and look more towards
40:38doing this properly.
40:39It's unfortunate.
40:42Um, okay.
40:45Right.
40:47We want to be waterproof
40:49to that level.
40:49You're painting that though, are you?
40:50There'll be a strip tile, yeah.
40:52That's what I'm saying.
40:53If we have something
40:55between there,
40:55we don't want the waterproof
40:56so that's if we can waterproof
40:57that line.
40:58I'm trying to help you.
40:59What are you having
41:00behind your taps?
41:01300 of tile.
41:02Okay, so it'll still be covered.
41:03Yep.
41:04I believe that's got to come out
41:05so that we can waterproof
41:06into the tub of that.
41:08I don't know why
41:08it's not out or any.
41:11From what I can see,
41:12it's okay.
41:13So that's all good.
41:14So I'll just continue
41:15taking my photos
41:16and doing this
41:16but you guys can
41:17start getting sorted.
41:18You guys can start
41:18getting sorted
41:19for all the rest of this.
41:20things you've got to do.
41:21Waterproof Wednesday.
41:22I got passed.
41:24We got there.
41:28Over at house two,
41:30Han and Kan
41:30have also got
41:31G-Max's tick of approval.
41:33We passed the sheet inspection
41:35and then it was like,
41:36right,
41:37it's waterproof.
41:38Crazy,
41:39crazy times.
41:42But next door in one,
41:44Ben and Emma's walls
41:45still need to be installed
41:46before they can be inspected.
41:49Geez,
41:49I'll tell you,
41:50it was tight.
41:51We're tools down at six,
41:53the plasterers were still
41:54going till seven
41:55and...
41:56But there's a lot of people
41:57in there.
41:58Oh,
41:58it was tight.
41:59Eyes on the prize,
42:00I think.
42:01We're the storm
42:06in coming.
42:09Three houses
42:10still awaiting
42:11waterproofing approval.
42:13I don't know
42:14what state
42:14these bathrooms
42:15are going to be in
42:16come Sunday morning.
42:18Thunder in the distance.
42:19Can we get back?
42:23Waterproofing!
42:24We haven't got there yet.
42:29It was a big storm brewing.
42:31Waterproofers
42:32been here all day
42:32waiting
42:33and obviously
42:33just puts you
42:34so far behind
42:35if you don't,
42:36if you don't
42:36start waterproofing today.
42:38To get waterproof Wednesday,
42:39the pressure was on.
42:41And G-Max was
42:41about to go home.
42:42Yep.
42:43If he didn't
42:43tick off our plaster,
42:45we weren't
42:46waterproofing on Wednesday.
42:47It's passed
42:55tools down
42:55on waterproof Wednesday
42:56and the storm
42:58may have cleared.
43:01But an equally
43:02severe weather system
43:03is moving
43:04through the block.
43:05The force of nature
43:06that is G-Mac
43:07has three more
43:08bathrooms to approve
43:09for waterproofing
43:10before he knocks
43:11off for the day.
43:17Hoping to get
43:18the tick of approval
43:18but waiting
43:20with bated breath.
43:26So,
43:27it's okay.
43:29Alright, well,
43:30I'm going to go have a beer.
43:32It's so easy.
43:34Can't believe we got there.
43:37It's so good.
43:38Get him a beer.
43:44Get the guy a slum.
43:46We got it.
43:47We passed.
43:48We got it.
43:48You have the day off.
43:50Yeah.
43:51You can have a spa
43:51treatment or something.
43:52Yeah, I might.
43:54We achieved
43:54half a waterproof Wednesday.
43:57So,
43:58it was only
43:58the first coat
43:59but it gave us
44:00at least a bit more time
44:02for the next day
44:03to get a head start
44:05on piling.
44:05Next on G-Mac's
44:08hit list
44:08are Robbie and Mac.
44:10We had waterproofers
44:12on site
44:12ready to rock and roll.
44:14G-Mac pops around.
44:15Oh, G-Mac.
44:16G-Flip.
44:17Waterproofers right down
44:18inside.
44:18Mac, G,
44:19G, Daddy.
44:21He terrifies me.
44:23Is the contestant
44:23hanging back
44:24to watch all this?
44:26Yeah, I'll be right here.
44:27I'm here.
44:28I'm so scared of him.
44:30He reminds me
44:30a little bit
44:30of Professor Snape.
44:34Just a little bit
44:35I know.
44:37It's because he's like,
44:38he has his phone
44:39with all of his checklists
44:40and he reads it
44:40and he goes...
44:42And it's terrifying
44:48and he moves
44:49really slowly
44:50when he's judging
44:50your room
44:51because the thing is
44:52if you haven't done
44:53something right
44:54he will eat you alive.
44:57Good.
44:58You need to
44:59cork the bottom?
45:00Yep.
45:01Is that a
45:02cafe cup?
45:04He is scary.
45:04I'm even clutching
45:05my pearls now
45:06he's not even
45:07in the room.
45:08There's a strange man
45:09hiding behind there.
45:11Do we know him?
45:12I'm just sussing it out.
45:16Do you know him?
45:18Yeah, yeah.
45:18Unfortunately
45:18he's my partner in this.
45:20Oh, is he?
45:20Yeah.
45:21Well, fortunately.
45:22I wonder where he...
45:22Yeah, yeah, yeah.
45:23So, let's get back
45:25to this.
45:25The thing is
45:26if he looks at a wall
45:27and it's not perfect
45:27your wall's coming down.
45:29I thought that was
45:29going to be a plaster wall.
45:31Can't put tiles
45:32on a plasterboard wall
45:32with no screws in it.
45:34G-Dog tells us
45:35we have to cut that out
45:36immediately.
45:37Cut it out.
45:37Our plasters came in.
45:39We cut out the chip rock,
45:41put in the little board
45:42and got the proof.
45:45Okay.
45:45All right.
45:46Cool.
45:46Thanks, G-Mack.
45:47We're very relieved
45:48that we can start
45:49waterproofing
45:50on our first week
45:50on the block
45:51on Waterproof Wednesday.
45:53Cutler hairdressers
45:55waterproofing on a Wednesday.
45:56And there's still
45:58one house
45:59awaiting sign-off.
46:00This is being
46:01painted, right?
46:03Graphico.
46:04Graphico.
46:05Same, same?
46:06Yeah, cool.
46:06Yeah.
46:07But not tiled.
46:08Not tiled.
46:08Not tiled.
46:09This is tiled.
46:10So I'm not wasting my time.
46:11No.
46:12Cool.
46:14G-Mack's a
46:15beautiful man.
46:18He never smiles.
46:20Leave me to the room
46:21for a couple of minutes
46:22to take photos.
46:23No worries.
46:23You can go and get
46:24all your gear ready
46:24and your primer's ready
46:25and your paintbrushes
46:26and you're waterproofing.
46:28No, not yet.
46:29We don't know yet.
46:29Oh, I hope, I hope, I hope.
46:31There was an issue
46:32with our plaster.
46:33You haven't got enough
46:34screw fixings
46:34in this board.
46:36There wasn't enough
46:37screws along the bottom rail.
46:39Where's the James Hardy
46:40screws that you've got
46:40given the green ones?
46:43I don't know
46:43where the James Hardy ones are.
46:44They might have run out.
46:45Okay.
46:46I'm going to get you
46:47some green screws.
46:48I've got 15 minutes.
46:49Thank you so much.
46:50There, G-Mack.
46:51G-Mack was about to go home.
46:53We needed
46:54to get those screws in.
46:59To get waterproof Wednesday,
47:01the pressure was on.
47:02How many more to go?
47:04Done.
47:05Huh?
47:06Done?
47:07Done.
47:08Look at him.
47:11Well done.
47:12That's all I needed.
47:13The screws in.
47:15We're going to make
47:16a chippy out of you.
47:19All good to go.
47:20And now I'm going.
47:22I love you, G-Mack.
47:23Can I hug now?
47:24No, we don't hug.
47:26Cheers.
47:27Today was the hardest day
47:29that I had on the block.
47:32Oh, my God.
47:35Gone are the days
47:35of dancing in my budgies
47:36in the back of a float.
47:37Let's get moving.
47:42It's just the twists
47:43and the turns that get you.
47:43You think you're going well
47:44one second.
47:46The next three curveballs
47:47are thrown at you.
47:49We've just got to be ready
47:49for everything.
47:54Tomorrow night.
47:55Right.
47:56What's a barber
47:57and a hairdresser
47:59doing
47:59finishing
48:00their waterproofing
48:02before everyone else?
48:03Let me just say
48:04you have
48:06made it
48:07a cut
48:07above the rest.
48:09Are you really
48:10proud of yourself?
48:11Benny, you see
48:12all these big blobs
48:13everywhere?
48:14Yeah, yeah.
48:14Big blobs up.
48:15I got knocked back
48:16from the waterproofing.
48:17What the hell is that?
48:19It's had a hemorrhage.
48:21Wow.
48:21Negative.
48:22You're not getting past.
48:23We fail.
48:23If that doesn't improve,
48:25it's going to have to be redone.
48:27Disaster.
48:28I was bummed
48:29that we didn't get
48:29the second coat of
48:30waterproofing on
48:31because I wanted to
48:32start tiling.
48:33So I started doing it.
48:35Hey!
48:36What are you doing?
48:38I just asked you
48:39like five minutes ago
48:40you're not allowed
48:41to waterproof.
48:42If I give you
48:42an instruction,
48:43you can't...
