00:00Another chapter has been written in the history of democracy in Venezuela.
00:04Millions of citizens went to the streets to vote in the municipal elections
00:08and in the first national youth popular consultation.
00:11Let's see the report from our colleague Bruno Fazzi.
00:17In a peaceful and civic way, the Venezuelan people exercised their vote
00:22in another democratic clash between Chavism and opposition,
00:27an electoral process with a high participation showing the trust of the population in their institution.
00:39Here in the state of La Guaira, in the municipality of Vargas,
00:42I had the opportunity to visit several polling stations right now
00:45and the turnout has been magnificent.
00:48Everyone is enthusiastic and actively participating in choosing the mayor of our municipality.
00:57These elections have been quite smooth.
00:59It has been a quite easy process with good results
01:04and also supporting the activities of the community youth projects.
01:09An unprecedented aspect of this election is the popular consultation of the youth.
01:14Young citizens are participating in this selection of projects for 5,338 communes nationwide.
01:23They are going to choose two projects between seven in each commune
01:28to improve the quality of life in their territories.
01:31Young people made this a historic celebration, a historical event.
01:38And this is what we are doing, turning a new page in our country's history.
01:42Young people have mobilized in mass in this popular consultation from the age of 15.
01:47Young people can come and participate and decide what their project is in their community, in their district.
01:52This means that democracy has become an everyday part of life in Venezuela.
01:56It means that it is now a celebration of us and not an electoral process.
02:00It means that we are now used to decision being consulted with the people.
02:04This election seeks not only to elect local authorities but also to promote the implementation of articulated policies
02:12at the national and municipal levels with the inclusion of 37,000 young projects through the country.
02:20There are projects to improve high school.
02:24I would say that this is not seen anywhere else in the world.
02:27A young person being part of the democracy of their country and deciding.
02:31A moment of incredible and historical participation.
02:36A moment where young people participate in the organization and participate in the electoral process.
02:42The country is closely observing the results of this municipal election, which will define the local political landscape
02:52and the measurement of important resources in communities for the coming years.
