00:05
kasama si Sir Joey Concepcion, GoNegosio Founder at Private Sector Lead for Jobs. Magandang tanghali po.
00:14
Good afternoon.
00:16
00:24
Well, I was with Secretary Chris Rockets event over the weekend,
00:35
and she was telling me that the President really negotiated well for the Philippines.
00:43
And what's important really is that we, under the leadership of President Marcos,
00:52
it's very important for us to create more jobs for our people, no?
00:56
So, mga negosyantes, all our entrepreneurs, our micro, small, and medium enterprises
01:01
have to really do much better.
01:06
And we see that the, as we support our MSMEs,
01:11
which is a bulk of the business community,
01:15
if we include them as part of the entire business community,
01:18
they comprise a huge portion of that sector.
01:23
So, we have to really scale them up.
01:27
The America, in the end, of course,
01:31
we're, of course, there are a lot of challenges that we face,
01:37
but I'm certain that as the private sector continues to support this administration,
01:43
especially helping our MSMEs scale up,
01:47
then the economy will grow.
01:49
Because the economy cannot grow just with big business expanding, no?
01:54
It doesn't become an inclusive growth.
01:57
So, the focus of GoNegosio and the Department of Trade and Industry
02:01
is to really support our MSMEs, no?
02:04
02:14
Well, yes, it's 19%, no?
02:19
But it still is good.
02:21
I mean, we do export a lot.
02:25
I mean, America, sorry, exports to us wheat.
02:31
In fact, our company uses a lot of wheat that comes from the United States.
02:35
So, and the quality of the flour that we use for many of the bakeries
02:45
are critical in that quality.
02:50
So, from my own point of view,
02:54
the negotiations, what I would say, pretty okay.
02:59
I mean, it could be better,
03:01
but I think under these terms, the relationship with U.S. and the Philippines is very important.
03:08
Yes, sir.
03:08
At doon po sa nabanggit ni Special Assistant to the President for Economic and Investment Affairs,
03:13
Secretary Go,
03:14
03:40
Patungkol po dito, bakit po natin masasabi o maikukonsiderang sensitive commodities?
03:44
Well, it's good.
03:48
In other words, while the U.S. exports wheat to us, which is big,
03:55
we still can continue to export our various products to the United States.
04:02
We do, many, many small and medium entrepreneurs export a lot of, you know,
04:13
homemade, like our vinegar, our condiments, and all of that, no?
04:20
It's sold in the Filipino stores, no?
04:22
The Oriental stores in America, no?
04:25
Alright.
04:26
Pero sa inyong perspective,
04:27
bilang private sector lead for jobs,
04:29
04:36
Well, it's very important for President Marcos,
04:43
we have to continue to create more opportunities, more jobs for our people.
04:47
That's very important the way you see it.
04:49
And I'm part of the Private Sector Advisory Council for Jobs.
04:54
04:57
So we've been working through the last months
05:00
in how do we generate more jobs for our people.
05:03
And the only way that we can do that is we have to upskill, no?
05:07
Many of our micro and small entrepreneurs,
05:10
we have to improve their skills in whatever business model they're in.
05:16
And this is where our partnership with the Department of State and Industry,
05:23
Secretary Roque, who leads that,
05:25
and of course GoNegosia, which has been around for the last 20 years,
05:29
we really have to scale up our micro and small and medium enterprises
05:33
to become one day much bigger
05:35
and more innovative in developing new products.
05:41
And as we create more jobs, the economy will do much better, no?
05:47
And that's the only key to economic growth,
05:49
is scaling up our people, upskilling them as well,
05:55
and providing them the opportunities that big business has.
06:00
So a big business cannot be the solution to our economy growing, no?
06:07
The most important here is creating prosperity,
06:12
not only for us in big business,
06:13
but for all our micro, small, and medium enterprises.
06:17
06:31
at pribadong sektor pagdating sa job creation?
06:36
Well, it's very clear, no?
06:39
Ever since President Marcos assumed his role
06:42
as the chief executive of the Philippines,
06:47
we respect that,
06:48
and we know the solution to our problem, no?
06:53
And today, what is good is that
06:58
we can see the economy becoming more inclusive.
07:02
And how is that?
07:04
Before, it was only big business
07:06
who can promote our products, our services,
07:09
through social media, through television, and all of that.
07:13
But today, we are teaching our micro,
07:17
small and medium entrepreneurs,
07:18
to use social media because it's free.
07:22
We're teaching them how to become influencers
07:24
and content creators
07:25
because these are very important.
07:28
It's like themselves marketing their own product or service.
07:32
And that's all done through the Internet.
07:36
And whether you do it to Facebook, YouTube,
07:40
and many other platforms,
07:42
so it's not just having a store
07:45
or having products out there,
07:47
but being able to market it.
07:49
And social media is technically
07:52
the best avenue which has created greater democracy
07:56
for our MSMEs to know,
08:00
to tell the entire Philippines
08:02
that I have this product,
08:04
it's for sale,
08:04
this is my quality, etc., etc.
08:07
So this is why many of our grants
08:09
that we do all over the Philippines,
08:11
together with the Department of Trade
08:13
and the different regions of the country,
08:16
we bring mentors,
08:17
some of them in the 50s and 100s,
08:20
of mentors who meet entrepreneurs,
08:23
and sit down with them
08:26
and talk to them
08:27
and they ask questions
08:28
on how they can grow their businesses.
08:32
And this has been going on
08:33
for the last 20 years.
08:35
So we intend to support President Marcos
08:39
really scale up this economy,
08:41
but it has,
08:42
and it will be inclusive
08:44
because now MSMEs will play a big role here.
08:47
All right.
08:49
Pero sa kasalukuya economic situation
08:51
po ng bansa,
08:52
gaano po kahalaga
08:53
natutukan ng pamahalaan
08:54
ng entrepreneurship,
08:55
access to capital,
08:57
ease of doing business,
08:58
o digitalization?
09:01
Well,
09:02
an entrepreneur,
09:04
in the end,
09:05
that's why we call our program
09:06
3Ms, no?
09:08
Key,
09:08
what are the 3Ms?
09:10
You need a mentor,
09:11
you need access to money,
09:12
and you need access to market.
09:14
That's very important.
09:15
So access to mentor,
09:16
access to money,
09:17
and access to market
09:19
is critical.
09:20
And this is the program
09:21
that we're trying to do.
09:22
We actually bring the banks,
09:25
the MFIs,
09:26
and some of the large banks
09:27
in the events that we have.
09:29
And that is providing them
09:31
access to money.
09:32
Now,
09:32
access to market,
09:34
we are teaching them
09:34
on how to get into social media.
09:37
And by teaching them,
09:39
upskilling them,
09:40
and then become content creators
09:42
and influencers.
09:43
Because if you don't have access
09:44
to money,
09:46
market,
09:47
and a mentor,
09:48
you're going to have
09:49
a difficult time.
09:51
In big business,
09:52
of course,
09:52
I mean,
09:53
many of the CEOs
09:55
come from good schools.
09:57
Of course,
09:58
they have mentors as well.
10:00
So,
10:00
they are,
10:01
they have the skill.
10:02
They have the funds
10:03
with them,
10:05
because they're much bigger.
10:07
So,
10:08
this is what
10:09
we are trying to do,
10:11
no?
10:11
big businesses
10:12
can handle their own.
10:13
They can face
10:14
all the problems.
10:15
But for this economy
10:16
to grow
10:17
and for us
10:18
to create more jobs,
10:20
if we don't scale up
10:21
our micro
10:22
to become small
10:23
and small
10:24
to become medium
10:25
and medium only
10:25
to become large,
10:27
then we will not
10:27
be able to create
10:28
more jobs.
10:29
So,
10:29
job generation
10:30
is related
10:31
to the growth
10:31
of the Philippine economy,
10:33
which is
10:34
well-participated
10:37
by our
10:38
micro,
10:38
small,
10:39
and medium enterprises.
10:40
So,
10:40
we scale them up,
10:42
then our economy
10:43
will grow.
10:44
Alright.
10:45
Panguli na lamang po,
10:46
Sir Joey,
10:46
para po sa inyo,
10:47
paano po maaaring
10:48
gamitin ang SONA
10:49
ng ating Panguno
10:50
bilang platforma
10:51
para palakasin pa
10:52
ang entrepreneurial
10:53
mindset
10:54
ng ating mga kababayan?
10:55
Well,
10:58
I'm sure
10:58
the president
10:58
will share
11:00
his vision
11:01
on what he sees
11:02
in the next year
11:03
that we have to do.
11:05
We are actually
11:06
going to be
11:07
hosting the ASEAN
11:08
in the year
11:08
2026.
11:10
So,
11:10
that,
11:11
right now
11:14
it's Malaysia,
11:14
they will turn over
11:15
the ASEAN
11:16
hosting to us
11:17
in January
11:18
next year.
11:19
So,
11:19
that is going to be
11:20
a very big event.
11:21
But we want
11:22
to do,
11:23
and I get the ASEAN
11:24
Business Advisory Council
11:26
for the private sector,
11:27
we want to,
11:29
we don't want
11:29
our Philippines
11:30
to say,
11:31
the ASEAN
11:31
is just going
11:32
to cause traffic,
11:33
no.
11:33
I believe
11:34
hosting the ASEAN
11:34
here will bring
11:35
a lot of opportunities.
11:37
And why
11:38
was ASEAN created?
11:40
Because it's
11:41
10 countries
11:42
working together.
11:43
Now,
11:44
we have our strengths,
11:45
our weaknesses,
11:46
and we have,
11:47
that's why we created
11:48
the ASEAN Food Security Alliance,
11:50
whereby all 10 countries
11:52
have to help
11:52
each other
11:54
in scaling up
11:55
and on the food,
11:59
the main commodities
12:02
that each country
12:03
produces.
12:04
So,
12:05
I'm very optimistic
12:06
that as we strengthen
12:08
ASEAN,
12:09
we will have scale,
12:10
and as you have scale,
12:10
then you will be able
12:12
to export
12:12
to other countries
12:13
as well.
12:14
So,
12:14
I think
12:15
this will be
12:17
a very important
12:18
international event
12:20
for the Philippines,
12:21
and we really enjoy
12:23
that all Filipinos
12:25
should participate here,
12:26
and the private sector
12:28
is going to be
12:29
quite active
12:30
during this hosting
12:31
of ASEAN
12:33
in the Philippines.
12:34
Alright,
12:34
maraming maraming
12:35
salamat po
12:36
sa impormasyon
12:36
at sa inyong ora,
12:37
Sir Joey Concepcion,
12:39
GoNegosyo,
12:39
founder at private sector
12:41
lead for jobs.
12:42
Magandang tangali po.
