USC Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley discusses what it would mean for USC if their running back won the heisman
Transcript
00:00So, you were talking about the running game, and you're a quarterback whispered.
00:05You've got three Heisman quarterback winners.
00:07What would it mean to you to see a running back at USU win the Heisman to a team coach?
00:12Would that change the way you look at, you know, is one, I guess the best way to ask,
00:18every Heisman is special, but what would it mean to you to actually do that here,
00:23tailback you, have a running back win Heisman?
00:25I'd take it. I would definitely take it.
00:28It would be phenomenal.
00:32You know, we were close.
00:33A lot of – Baker might not appreciate me saying this, but honestly, you know,
00:37the year that Baker won it, and he was phenomenal.
00:39But, I mean, we had a back at OU, Rodney Anderson, that if he had been healthy the first half of the season,
00:44it might have been a 1-2 race.
00:46I mean, Rodney, this whole second half of the year was incredible.
00:49And, I mean, the really great teams have that ability to run it
00:53and have that ability to dominate people.
00:56In this league, the schedule we play, doing it at this place, I think it would –
01:00I mean, one, it's amazing any time, you know, a player could be honored with something like that.
01:04Obviously, it's an historic award.
01:06But, to me, it's even bigger because that award is also representative of team success.
01:10And if you're doing that and you're able to be that dominant on the O-line
01:15running the football with that type of guy, then that means we probably want a bunch of ballgames.
01:19So, it would be incredibly special.
01:21Any time USC's had a running back from the Heisman, if they want him out of the championship?
01:25See, there we go.
01:25Beautiful.
01:26Beautiful.
01:27I'm in.
01:27Let's do it.
01:28Yeah.
01:28Yeah, great question.
