USC Trojans Head Coach Lincoln Riley Discusses How their Right Tackles Are Doing
Transcript
00:00How about a great tackle, Tobias and Justin?
00:02What have you seen from those two?
00:03Well, they're both doing some really good things this spring.
00:07I mean, I think, you know, Tobias,
00:09his versatility is really important for us going forward.
00:12I mean, he's, you know, Tobias has established himself
00:15as one of our best offensive linemen.
00:16I mean, that's happened this spring.
00:20And Justin's playing very well.
00:22And so some of that will be how the battles shake out
00:25at the other positions as well.
00:26But we feel like the way those two guys are playing right now,
00:29you feel like there's two starters there.
00:31Back to the tight ends,
00:32you're talking about the different body types.
00:34Walter Matthews, 6'7", 270.
00:37Can you talk about what he brings to the table?
00:39Because that's a unique individual.
00:40Yeah, it is.
00:40It's almost like, you know, an offensive tackle type body.
00:44But, you know, the athleticism and all that he brings
00:46are pretty exciting.
00:47He's improved a lot throughout kind of last year
00:50with that redshirt year.
00:52He's learned a lot.
00:53He's gotten a lot stronger, learned in our offense.
00:56That position's got to do so much.
00:57And so just settling into all those different roles.
00:59But, I mean, he can catch the ball.
01:01He's kind of tough to bring down because of how big he is.
01:03And obviously all the stuff in the run game
01:06and pass pro and all that,
01:07in some ways he's almost like having a sixth offensive lineman
01:10out there at times.
01:11So he's got some real ability.
01:13I certainly foresee him having a role.
01:16And I think the more that he can learn and grow
01:17and the more consistency he can find,
01:19then the role's got a chance to grow
01:20because you can't teach some of the things
01:23that he brings to the table.
