Naigaon (Vasai East): A heartbreaking incident took place on Tuesday night at Navkar Phase-1, a 14-storey residential complex in Naigaon East, where a 4-year-old girl, Anvika Prajapati, fell to her death from the 12th floor.
According to reports, Anvika had gone to her sister’s home and was preparing to leave when the tragedy occurred. While playing, she climbed onto a wooden stand near the window, which had no safety grill or net. The structure collapsed under her weight, causing her to fall.
The incident was captured on CCTV and the footage has since gone viral on social media. Residents rushed the child to Vasai-Virar Municipal Hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival.
The local police have registered a case of accidental death and have launched an investigation. They have also emphasized the urgent need for safety precautions in high-rise buildings, especially in areas accessible to children.
The Naigaon community is in mourning, and the tragic death has raised serious questions about child safety in residential complexes.
