00:00New head coach coming in, Kellen Moore, who won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles
00:03as an offensive coordinator.
00:05He's got Tyler Shuck, who's like 45 years old, going to be a rookie.
00:08To be the starter, minus 245.
00:11Spencer Rattler, plus 186.
00:13Jake Hayner, 40 to 1.
00:15You got to be kidding me.
00:16This is the quarterback room down there.
00:17Look, I understand you drafted Shuck and you think you can make him into a quarterback.
00:22Is this not one of the worst quarterback rooms like you've ever seen entering into the season
00:25with a team that's telling you Tyler Shuck is the future?
00:28And, oh, yeah, if he does falter, we have Rattler and Hayner behind him.
00:32This can't be real.
00:33Is this real life?
00:34I mean, in their defense, though, Donnie, they clearly didn't think Derek Carr was planning on retiring.
00:42So, I mean, the idea was Derek Carr's quarterback, Tyler Shuck, let him, you know, spend a year behind him.
00:49But now they have no choice.
00:52They know Spencer Rattler.
00:53They've already saw Jake Hayner.
00:55They know what they have there.
00:56So, you spent the draft pick on Tyler Shau.
01:00He is the best of the rest here at this point.
01:03But, you know, I think they got screwed the minute that Derek Carr was like, surprise, I'm retiring.
01:09I don't want to play anymore.
01:11I mean, you do have to sometimes get down to the foundation level as a franchise.
01:17Part of the reason why they liked Kellen Moore and they thought he was a fit, he's a younger coach.
01:21They gave him an extended deal, and they had to sell him on, I understand, we're going to pay you a lot of money to come here.
01:27We're not going to cut you loose after a year and a half because it didn't work out.
01:30Not many coaches look at this.
01:31Now, granted, there's only 32 jobs in the NFL that are available.
01:34Each one of them is great, and you certainly would want to have that.
01:36But if you are a coach that's a hot commodity and you're winning a lot of games like in Philadelphia, you could probably have your pick of landing spots.
01:43And certainly that roster doesn't ring of, hey, look at me, I got a wide receiver.
01:48Yeah, a couple years ago might have been the best thing in the NFL.
01:49Now he's one hit away from never playing again.
01:52Alvin Kamara would love to coach that guy.
01:53He's got a lot of tread on that tires right now.
01:55That offensive line that was so nasty and physical is now beaten up, battered, and bruised.
02:01And then you now have a quarterback that retired out of nowhere, and you're left with Tyler Shuck.
02:05And it's like, all right, well, we might be able to make this work.
02:08This is a work in production right now for New Orleans Saints.
02:12Great city, great stadium.
02:15We were down there for the Super Bowl.
02:17There's not a lot of Saints fandom, I can imagine, in the streets across, you know, New Orleans to Baton Rouge to Shreveport going like, ain't nobody going to beat them Saints this year.
02:26No, it feels like everybody, Joe, going to beat them Saints.
02:29But Saints also know there's maybe one or two quarterbacks coming up in the draft next year that might help them.
02:36Ah, hey.
02:38Hey, there was once a Manning in New Orleans.
02:40Could be there another one.
02:42You never know.
