A 27-year-old divorcee has claimed trial at the Alor Gajah Sessions Court to three charges of allegedly outraging the modesty of his two young stepdaughters and exposing himself in front of them.

The accused, a marketing assistant for an online cosmetics brand, entered his plea after all three charges were read out to him before Judge Aiza Khairuddin on Friday (July 25).

00:18the children. The accused, a marketing assistant for an online cosmetics brand, pleaded not guilty
00:24before Judge Aizakai Rudin on Friday. According to the first two charges, under Section 14,
00:31subsection A of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017, the accused allegedly committed
00:39physical sexual acts. If found guilty, he faces up to 20 years in jail and weeping. The third charge,
00:47framed under Section 15, subsection A, subparagraph one of the same act, involved non-physical sexual
00:55assault, specifically exposing himself to the children. The offence carried a sentence of up to
01:0110 years in prison, a fine of up to RM20,000 or both. All the alleged incidents are said to have
01:08occurred between May 11 and July 5, in a bedroom and a bathroom at a residence in Rembia. The court
01:15granted bill at RM15,000 with one surety. The accused is required to report to the nearest
01:20police station once a month, surrender his passport and is prohibited from contacting
01:25prosecution witnesses. The case is set for mention on August 25th.
