00:00Take me out for some hot dogs.
00:05All right.
00:07You know, the 1939 World's Fair.
00:10History has made it to the 1939 World's Fair.
00:13Located not too far from where Citi Field is today.
00:18They had a World's Fair in 1939.
00:20Where television was introduced.
00:24And also, a new concept in diners.
00:28And they called it the White Manor.
00:31With porthole windows and white counters and white brick.
00:38It tried to present itself as cleanliness.
00:42Well, the White Manor diner that was at that World's Fair.
00:46Was taken brick by brick to Jersey City in 1946.
00:51And it's been here.
00:52Right on the corner of Route 109, Tonally Avenue.
00:56Ever since.
00:58And what they did is they sold off these diners to many, many places.
01:05Including Hackensack, where they claim to be the original.
01:08But this is the true original.
01:10Here in Jersey City, they're known for the hamburgers.
01:14But they also have hot dogs.
01:16And we're going to give them a try.
01:19As we go road-dogging.
01:22The White Manor.
01:24The White Manor.
01:26The White Manor.
01:41The White Manor.
01:45All right, now, the difference between this white manna, the original, and the one at
02:01Hackensack is, this is the only one that has hot dogs.
02:05So we're going to look at the hot dog.
02:08It's got a nice little grill bar.
02:10It's got nice coloring, but underdog ratio is actually very good.
02:14Well, let's actually see how it tastes.
02:39I'm going to give the hot dog a gluten double.
02:46I'm glad they really had to run for this double.
02:50But they're known for their hamburgers.
02:52That's where the real test is going to be.
02:54And today, I'm actually going to review one of their burgers.
02:57All right, well, here's their cheeseburger.
03:04And, well, they're small burgers.
03:08Not quite the White Castle-style sliders, but they use high-quality Patla Frieda.
03:15And that's what they're known for.
03:16They're known for the burgers.
03:17This is a burger joint.
03:18And they were serving burgers at the World Trade in 1939.
03:21And who knows, it might have been Patla Frieda's back then, too.
03:24But let's see how this burger tastes, and they really smash it down.
03:28That's a nice, juicy burger.
03:38Look at that.
03:42Quality burger.
03:45In keeping with the baseball team, I'm going to give their burger a triple, or score at
03:52the part tense, an 8.4.
03:57Frank, was that your first burger review?
03:59No, I've done a couple of those.
04:00I've done a couple of those.
04:01I've done a couple of those.
04:02And their fries.
04:03Coloring could be a little bit better on their fries.
04:12Yeah.
04:13Fries.
04:14Take a word.
04:15These fries need to work.
04:16I'm going to give them a 6.2.
04:17All right.
04:18You know, this place is timeless.
04:19If you're looking for a hot dog, I'm going to give them a 6.2.
04:24All right.
04:25You know, this place is timeless.
04:29If you're looking for a hot dog, I wouldn't recommend this place.
04:36Do you mind?
04:41I wouldn't go here for hot dogs.
04:43But their burgers are absolutely outstanding and terrific.
04:46And that's what they're known for.
04:48It's classic.
04:49It's timeless.
04:50And you know, it's unique.
04:52And that's why White Man has been around for well over 80 years.
04:57So, if you know any other places you should go that's timeless like this, let me know.
05:03Email me.
05:04DM me.
05:05Text me.
05:06Let me know where I should go next.
05:08You just never know of your show.
05:10Keep raw doggy and I'll see you down the road.
05:20Take me out for some hot dogs.
05:23Get me one that's only plain.
05:26No mustard or ketchup.
05:29I'll know what the dog is really about.
05:33And it's hope that this is a good one.
05:37Maybe a home one or a double.
05:40But if it sucks, it will be a strikeout and not worthy of my taste buds.
05:46I'll see you next time.
05:47I'll see you next time.
05:48Bye.
