In House floor remarks on Wednesday, Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA) spoke about federal layoffs.
Transcript
00:00Objection, the gentleman is recognized for one minute.
00:02Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
00:03Mr. Speaker, Virginia federal employees are still being fired, rift, harassed by this administration.
00:12Last week I heard from a constituent who received a termination letter from the Department of Health and Human Services
00:17just hours before it went into effect and with no access to their equipment, no off-boarding information,
00:22and no details about their severance.
00:24And this is one of many, many stories that I get to my office every week.
00:28Civil servants who dedicate their career to serving this government deserve transparency, clarity, and respect.
00:34But across agencies, this administration continues to blindly and abruptly fire federal workers.
00:41And what do we have to show for it?
00:42A complete and total brain drain.
00:44We are losing talent and expertise in our federal government,
00:47all while the administration prioritizes tax cuts and handouts to the biggest corporations.
00:51And to my constituents impacted by these cuts, I will continue to demand answers,
00:55and I will continue to fight to hold this administration accountable.
00:59I yield back.
