00:00Remember we did the Scott Frost stuff last week or two weeks ago, Scotty, with the Big 12 when he went to UCF saying how he picked the wrong job going to Nebraska.
00:09Well, Matt Rule's the guy who's there now trying to clean up Frost's mess.
00:12What does Rule think of his comments?
00:15First of all, I have a ton of respect for Scott.
00:17And I've always been very empathetic for what he went through because, like, this was his home.
00:21You know, like, if you guys fire me tomorrow, like, I'm just going to go back to Cape May and sit on the beach and go back to where I'm from.
00:27That's what's up.
00:27Like, this was his home, right?
00:29And so, like, this offseason we put up a huge picture of Scott as a player in the coach's area because I took a picture and I sent it to Ryan Callahan down there because I can't imagine, like, what that feels like for him, right?
00:42I know what it felt like to get run out of Carolina.
00:45And I would say to people, like, I don't think I took the right job for me.
00:47It wasn't the right fit.
00:49Scott came at a time.
00:50He had COVID.
00:51He had all these different things.
00:51So I can't talk about his time.
00:53But what I can say was this wasn't a good job.
00:57It was not a good job.
00:59But we've made it a good job.
01:01And we're about to make it a great job.
01:02This will be one of the best jobs in the country.
01:04You walk in and everyone's like, well, that was Scott's fault.
01:07You know, and Carolina said that was Matt's fault.
01:09But, like, good programs, like, it's everybody.
01:11I just want to make sure I always say, like, everyone can point and say what went wrong, what went wrong.
01:16It takes everybody saying, hey, what's my area?
01:18Yeah, you know, it takes a lot of guys to make it work.
01:25The head coach takes all the blame or all the glory.
01:28It's simple.
01:29Quarterback, same thing.
01:31You're going to be blamed or you're going to be a hero.
01:33That's the only one they talk about.
01:36Or you could be Mark Andrews and they'll blame you for a year.
01:41If you screw up a game, they're going to blame somebody.
01:45And then nowadays, like we said earlier in the show, you'll get death threats.
01:48Yep, that is precisely what will happen if you get involved in any of that.
01:55That's for sure.
01:56Let me give you the Nebraska numbers for this season.
01:59Now, they finally went back to a bowl last year.
02:03But can Matt Rule finally get them back in the right direction of being an actual contender?
02:09Seven and a half is the number, plus 630 to make the college football playoff, 37 to 1 to win the Big Ten.
02:16And they do have Raiola with another year here.
02:19I would like to see him improve this year, Scotty.
02:22I know he's got tons of talent, that Dylan Raiola, but I need to actually see it on the field.
02:28Yeah, I was just going to say, he's really one of the most overrated quarterbacks that I've ever seen.
02:35Because they talk about him like when he got the gig, like he was the second coming.
02:40And he hasn't done anything there.
02:43He hasn't proved anything.
02:44He hasn't won anything.
02:45He hasn't done anything.
02:46He hasn't been great at all.
02:48And now they're going back to the well with him.
02:51So, look, I won't disagree that when they're good, like, so I remember, you know, the Huskers when they used to play Miami for national championships.
03:03I remember Tom Osborne, right?
03:07And if you win it, Lincoln, I mean, you are God.
03:10It is a great football town.
03:13Without a doubt, it's one of the great college football atmospheres in the country.
03:18And they have, I mean, full-on, full-tilt support.
03:22It is no joke.
03:23You can't get a seat to their games.
03:25So, they're the real deal when they win.
03:29And if Rule gets them to a point where they're winning nine, ten games, believe me you, Nebraska will matter again like they always have.
03:37It's just been a lean, I'd say, since Osborne, it's been, you know, pretty lean.
03:44And Frost was a nightmare there, without a doubt.
03:48But then again, at the end of the day, so was Pelini.
03:51I mean, they've had all kinds of problems in Lincoln.
03:55It's the same thing in Norman.
03:57I always believed, and they should have never ruined the Big Eight.
04:01I thought Oklahoma and Nebraska was one of the great rivalries in all of college football.
04:05I think Norman's the same atmosphere as Lincoln.
04:08They're two institutions in college football.
04:11And it's just those, you know, that lean cut of beef.
04:16They've been in that lean period where they just haven't been good enough.
04:19And there's still crazy, rabid fans there.
04:23It's no joke.
04:24Nebraska football, it should be better than it has been.
