00:00But the ACC is getting together in Charlotte for their media week.

00:06We'll start with Big Chest, Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes.

00:12Of course, they were looking like they were on their way to maybe making the ACC title game,

00:18the college football playoff, undefeated.

00:21They were moving on, and then it was an awful November.

00:25Cristobal says this year we need to finish the job.

00:29We made a lot of progress over the last three years.

00:31I mean, year one, our roster was not really built to take on power for football,

00:36and those were some lopsided games.

00:38You know, it was tough.

00:39And then in year two, every game was competitive, and we won a couple more.

00:43And then last year we had a chance to win every single game, but we didn't.

00:47The bottom line is we didn't get it done.

00:49And it's more than I know we pointed out the defense a little bit earlier,

00:51but you know what also fell apart at the end?

00:53Ball security, right?

00:55If you turn the ball over, you subject yourself to some not-so-positive outcomes.

01:00So, without a doubt, finishing is a mentality.

01:04Finishing is a work ethic that comes with the offseason.

01:07And we've always, you know, invested a ton of effort in those areas,

01:11and we've invested even more this offseason.

01:13And it will be a big part of training camp as well.

01:16Are you going to lose to Georgia Tech again?

01:18How about at home, Ed Hardwick, going to lose to him there?

01:23You can't beat him in Atlanta.

01:25What about Syracuse?

01:26You can't beat him there.

01:27Are you going to beat him at home?

01:29What about a ball game?

01:31You haven't won a ball game in 50 years.

01:33They've lost, what, eight straight ball games?

01:36They lost to Louisiana Tech and didn't score in a ball game.

01:40That's how bad they've been.

01:42This guy is paid a ton of money,

01:45and the bottom line is they just don't get it done.

01:49And last year, not only did we call it,

01:53we called all three losses on this show

01:56that they would lose to Georgia Tech,

01:59and they fumbled the game away with a chance to win.

02:02Then we called the Syracuse loss.

02:03They get their ass beat.

02:05And then we called the loss to Iowa State in the ball game.

02:08I mean, when you win five national championships,

02:13losing three games,

02:14you're basically Nebraska, right?

02:17Like, you know, that's what they've become.

02:19The same thing that's happened to Nebraska

02:21since Tom Osborne has happened to Miami.

02:25They don't matter anymore.

02:28They just act like they do,

02:29and they spend like they do.

02:32I mean, Miami literally last year,

02:34I think, had the most expensive team in college football,

02:36didn't they?

02:36With Ohio State, Miami.

02:38I think Miami spends as much as Ohio State

02:41and as much as, you know, anybody.

02:44And they still don't get the results

02:46because they can't win big games.

02:48I still cannot believe that they won the game at Cal

02:53when they were down 35-0 or whatever it was.

02:56I still can't believe they won that game

02:57because they, I mean, they sucked that night too.

03:01And the reason they won that game was Cam Ward.

03:03He did it all by himself.

03:05Literally, he was Nerf football in your living room

03:08when you were a kid,

03:09when you threw the ball to yourself.

03:11You know, you were the quarterback,

03:12you dropped back in the living room,

03:13dodged the ottoman, throw it deep.

03:16The ball's flying through the family room,

03:18and then you're the guy running to catch it

03:19and diving in the end zone to make the play,

03:22the toss and the grab.

03:24That's what Cam Ward was for the Miami Hurricanes.

03:26And then I liked Respeto.

03:29Is that his name, the kid, the little receiver?

03:32Restrepo, yeah.

03:33Restrepo.

03:34Restrepo.

03:35I thought he was a great player and no one else.

03:39Literally, no one else.

03:41They're the most overrated team in the world.

03:44Every year we hear about Miami.

03:46I'm a Canes fan fanatic, and they suck.

03:50That says the bottom line, they never get it done, ever.

03:53Well, they spent a lot of money again this offseason.

03:57The big-ticket item this year,

03:59quarterback Carson Beck coming over from Georgia.

04:02Here he is.

04:03I think that this decision is one of the better decisions I've made

04:06since I've been here in January.

04:07And developing the relationships

04:10and building the chemistry between me, the wide receivers,

04:14the running backs, the tight ends, the O-line,

04:17and just trying to develop those relationships

04:19and that camaraderie,

04:21it's just reinforced my decision in a positive way.

04:25Well, we'll see how his elbow is.

04:29He says he's 100%,

04:30and he says that Georgia wanted him back,

04:34and obviously that he got a lot of money to go to Miami.

04:39And, you know, there's all this talk

04:41that he was dating one of those Cavendish chicks

04:43and whatever else.

04:44I don't care who he sleeps with.

04:47Let's see if they can win with this guy.

04:49I mean, do you think that Carson Beck's better than Cam Ward?

04:53I don't.

04:54No.

04:55So, to me, it's a step down no matter what way you slice the pie.

05:00I think he's, you know, I never thought he was great at Georgia.

05:04I really didn't.

05:06Listen, I'll tell you right now,

05:08that kid at BYU that just went to Tulane,

05:12let's laugh, he's a better quarterback than Beck.

05:15I don't care what anybody says.

05:16He went 11-2.

05:18Beck never, he just, what did Beck do at Georgia?

05:21He didn't win anything.

05:22Right?

05:27Didn't get it done.

05:28As far as the Canes numbers this year

05:31to win the championship, they're 38-1.

05:35It's absurd.

05:36Plus 2-0-5 to make the playoff there.

05:39Total's 9-1.

05:40Now, they open with Notre Dame.

05:43Now, I know Notre Dame doesn't ever play well in Hard Rock.

05:47When they go down there, they never play well.

05:50I think this is a different Notre Dame team.

05:52Freeman, since he's been the coach,

05:53they go on the road and they win games.

05:55Well, what's wrong with Notre Dame?

05:57Now, a team is the one that can make the playoff play

05:58for us.
