00:00We are going to start with Rahm Emanuel. Rahm Emanuel was Obama's former chief of staff.
00:06He was the mayor of Chicago. He was a congressman. He was ambassador to Japan.
00:10And he is a, I think, leading potential candidate in 2028 for the Democrats.
00:17He was on Megyn Kelly's podcast. And I have to tell you, a lot of these interviews are kind of
00:26standard fare. This was like a seismic moment, I think. A seismic moment where Megyn Kelly,
00:37and again, politics aside, she is undeniably a really skilled interviewer. And she decided
00:44to take Rahm Emanuel through the paces when it came to the transgender issue. And she broke it down
00:53item by item. And the last question just opens Pandora's box for the Democrats.
01:02So do you believe boys should be able to play in girls sports?
01:04Do you believe that kids under the age of 18 should be able to be put on puberty blockers
01:09and then cross-sex hormones?
01:10I think parents have to make that decision themselves. I think that is too, a child is
01:16too young at 18 to make that decision. It has to be made with a family and that choice.
01:20I think before somebody makes a life decision, they have to think twice about that.
01:25Should we be putting men in female prisons? Men claiming they're women?
01:29No.
01:31And, all right, here's my last one for you. Can a man become a woman?
01:36Can a man become a woman? Uh, not, no.
01:41No.
01:42That's so easy. Why don't more people in your party just say that?
01:45Because I'm now going to go into a witness protection plan.
01:47It is a stunning break from what Democrats have talked about before, because Democrats
01:56have really embraced transgender rights. Um, by the way, I don't, I don't think that he
02:04is saying that I'm against transgender rights. I think what he's saying, I think there's one
02:10qualifier, but I think what he's saying is you, you have to treat everybody equally. Um,
02:15and the transgender community should have the same rights as men or women, whichever way
02:20you land on that issue. But he is not singling out a transgender community, I think, as something
02:28that you would look at as a special class where you're trying to protect them. That's the only
02:33way I can understand this.
02:34I think that's right. But he is definitely taking the position that a person's biology
02:40genetics trumps their chosen gender in most walks of life. Now it might not be bathrooms
02:47in federal buildings like the president has gone to, but for most walks of life.
02:51Well, there is something interesting about this. Look, to, to make this clear, I think what
02:57Ron Manuel is saying is Caitlyn Jenner is a man.
03:01That's right. That's right. He's saying, we said men cannot become women, men cannot
03:05become women. So he is saying that, and that's just an example. Caitlyn Jenner is a man.
03:10Yes. Um, the thing that to me is, we should say that's not the conventional view among Democrats.
03:19It's a full departure. I think he may be the only national Democrat who has taken this position
03:23that I'm aware of, right? Everybody is, there are people on the women can be in sports. That seems
03:29to be the fringe of the party. I don't think a lot of people are saying that, but in terms
03:33of women can become women, that is orthodoxy in the democratic party. Yep. Yeah. And he's
03:38broken from orthodoxy and he is a really smart guy and he has ambition and he must be calculating
03:46this. I mean, he must be calculating. There was worry in his voice about how it's going
03:51to land. I think he is. Well, I think. Politically, it's very smart. He made a joke at the end
03:56about witness protection. Right, right, right. But that's telling, right? I think he's saying,
03:59like, I know my party's going to come after me for this, but I'm staking out this position,
04:04this center position that I think might be the path I need.
04:08The thing that was really intriguing to me was, can a transgender woman, should she, if convicted
04:15of a crime, go to a men's prison, a transgender man? And he said no.
04:23I think he needs to rethink that. And not because of any politics, just because can you, what
04:28do we think would happen to somebody who presents as a woman, who has lived their life as a woman,
04:33goes to an all-male prison? What happens to that person? We have to protect people from
04:38crimes in prison. And now I think there are some people on the far right who say, well,
04:42you choose. He was quick to say no. But he was very quick. But I wonder if pressed on that
04:45issue, if he would say, well, we need to put in some protection measures to stop it. That's
04:50really dangerous stuff. He goes on to say, medically, yes. But beyond that, no. So I think
04:57he's saying, yeah, the body parts may align. Yeah. But it's still a man. I think that's
05:03right. DJ, New York. I do believe that when it comes to this topic of talking about transgender
05:11and whether or not, I think separating the two genders when it comes to sports is important
05:16just to make everything fair and making sure that everything is all good together. Because
05:21at the end of the day, men typically have the physical advantage usually over women when
05:26it comes to physical sports. So therefore, I think in that instance, I think the two genders
05:32should be separated in my opinion. And I actually agree with that. But that's a conventional view
05:36that even Democrats say that that's the case. So that's true. But what about can a man become
05:43a woman? Ultimately, what's on your birth certificate is what you are. And there's so much nuance
05:50to this topic. And I think it really depends on who you talk to. But overall, you know, it's
05:56touching. It's touching in 2025. It is indeed.
