00:00The Fire and Rescue Department, JBPM, has contained about 80 percent of a blaze that broke out in a 60-acre secondary forest along Jalan Gernting, Kuala Kubu Baru.
00:13Selangor Zone 6 Chief Senior Fire Superintendent 2 Mustaqim Rimon said firefighters have been battling the fire non-stop since receiving an emergency call from the landowner at 6.26 p.m. on Tuesday.
00:26Thirty-seven personnel from Kuala Kubu Baru and Rawang stations were deployed.
00:32However, access issues meant they had to carry equipment on foot for nearly two kilometers.
00:38Due to the remote location and limited water supply, the JBPM air unit used an AW-189 helicopter to conduct aerial water bombing, releasing 6,000 liters of water.
00:49Drones with heat-sensing cameras were also deployed to detect hot spots.
00:53Mustaqim said the hilly terrain and hot, windy weather posed major challenges.
00:59He urged the public to avoid open burning, particularly in high-risk areas.
