00:00The mother of Zayn Rayyan Abdul-Matin told the Sessions Court in Pertaling Jaya on Wednesday
00:07that she did not search the garden near her apartment in Block R, Idamarn apartment,
00:12Damansara Damai, when her autistic son went missing on December 5, 2023.
00:1930-year-old Ismaneera Abdul-Manaf said she began her search at Block R and continued to Blocks S
00:25and A, as well as nearby premises, including a petrol station, fast food outlets, her workplace,
00:33Zayn Rayyan's school, and surrounding apartment complexes, all located within a 500-meter radius.
00:41During cross-examination by Deputy Public Prosecutor Raja Zayzul Farida Raja Zaharuddin on the third day
00:47of her defense trial, Ismaneera said she initially searched alone and later with her husband,
00:53Zayim Ikhwan Zahari, who had just returned from work. She admitted that the places she searched
00:59were farther than the garden next to Block R, where her son's body was later found.
01:04However, she maintained that Zayn Rayyan would not have gone to unfamiliar places alone due to his
01:09condition, and she had never taken him to the garden. Ismaneera also said they left their contact
01:15numbers at several shops during the search. She disagreed with the prosecution's claim that
01:20she encountered several people while searching the apartment blocks, saying she only met others
01:25near stalls at Block A. On Monday, Judge Dr. Shializa Warno ruled that the prosecution had
01:32established a prima facie case and ordered Ismaneera to enter her defense. Her husband,
01:37Zayim Ikhwan, also age 30, was discharged and acquitted of the same charge.
01:43The couple was accused of neglecting Zayn Rayyan between noon on December 5th and 9.55 p.m. on
01:50December 6th, 2023, around Block R and a nearby river. The charge, under Section 31, Subsection 1,
01:59Subsection A of the Child Act 2001 and Section 34 of the Penal Code, carries up to 20 years jail,
02:06a RM50,000 fine, or both upon conviction. The trial continues.
