00:00Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that more than 4,000 new positions for government doctors, including contract medical officers, will be made available this year.
00:13In a special national address aired on television on Wednesday, Anwar highlighted the urgent shortage of doctors in Malaysia's healthcare system.
00:22We have decided that as a service should be better, there is a new contract, new contract, new contract.
00:31So, starting now, we have taken care of in the health care facility, including the contract, 4,352 new contract doctors and doctors in this year.
00:53According to 2023 projections by Dr. Herman Ismail, Deputy Director of the Health Ministry's Medical Development Division,
01:02Malaysia needs 63,000 doctors by 2025 and nearly 80,000 by 2030 to meet demand.
01:11As of last year, only around 52,000 doctors were serving in the public health care sector.
