00:00Well, thank you very much, everybody.
00:01It's a great honor to have President Ferdinand Marcos,
00:04Jr., of the Philippines, a great family,
00:08great family legacy, and highly respected in this country.
00:12I know that because I have many friends in the Philippines.
00:14And there's great respect, or I couldn't say it,
00:17so congratulations.
00:19We're going to be talking about trade.
00:20We're going to be talking about war and peace.
00:24They're a very important nation militarily.
00:27And we've had some great drills lately.
00:29We're back with them.
00:31I think I can say that the last administration
00:34was not getting along with them too well.
00:37They didn't get along with anybody.
00:39They didn't know.
00:40Honestly, they didn't know what they were doing.
00:42But we have some fantastic military relationships
00:46with the Philippines, and that's been reinstituted.
00:49And, Pete, I would say that you were,
00:51you couldn't be happier, right, with the relationship?
00:54Great partners.
00:54So I just want to say it's an honor to have you.
00:58We're going to talk about trade today.
01:00And we're very close to finishing the trade deal.
01:03Big trade deal, actually.
01:04And we do a lot of business with you.
01:06It's a lot of income coming in for both groups.
01:11But I was surprised to see the kind of numbers.
01:13They're very big.
01:14And they're going to get bigger under what we're doing
01:17and what we're proposing.
01:19And I just want to thank you for being with us.
01:21It's a great honor.
01:21You and your representatives, really a great, great honor.
01:25Thank you very much, Mr. President.
01:27Of course, we're all very happy to be here to once again
01:31reaffirm the very strong ties between the Philippines
01:35and the United States, ties that go back over 100 years.
01:39And considering the context in which we live these days,
01:43especially in my part of the world,
01:45this has evolved into as important a relationship
01:50as is possible to have.
01:52We must remember that the United States is our only treaty partner
01:59in the Philippines, and that has stood us in good stead
02:04over the years, certainly through the Second World War.
02:10And the cultural memory of all Filipinos,
02:15down to even the school children,
02:18is that our strongest, closest, most reliable ally
02:23has always been the United States.
02:26That is something that we value, that we are grateful for,
02:30that we will continue to foster as we go on.
02:34With the leadership of President Trump,
02:37I am very confident that we will be able to achieve that.
02:40I think it is worthwhile to remember
02:45that it was President Trump who, in his first term,
02:49characterized the relationship between the Philippines
02:53and the United States as Ironclad.
02:56And that has been necessarily the case
02:58since that time that you made that statement, sir.
03:03And it is something that the Philippines
03:07will always hold close to its heart.
03:10Thank you once again, and we are honored,
03:13and it is our great pleasure to be here
03:16and to visit with the President of the United States.
03:18Thank you very much.
03:19Thank you, sir.
03:20My great honor.
03:20It is my great honor.
03:21Thank you, sir.
03:21It is my great honor.
