Karoline Leavitt speaks to reporters outside the White House.
Transcript
00:00I have a meeting with some hostage families from Gaza who are at the White House today.
00:08I've met with many of the hostages and their families and loved ones throughout the course
00:13of the last six months, and it's really an honor to hear from them and hear their stories
00:16as the president works to secure the release of more hostages. So I'm going to go inside
00:21and do that. I don't want to be late. I'm happy to take a couple questions. I am doing
00:24a briefing tomorrow so we can have some more fun at one o'clock, but I'll take just a couple
00:28quick questions. Go ahead. Thank you. Sure.
00:34I don't have any information on about the pardons, but I have told you and we'll say
00:45again, the White House Counsel's Office is investigating the potential abuse of the
00:50auto pen from the previous administration. This is a really important question to get
00:53to the bottom of, and the White House is working with the Department of Justice to
00:56do that. Caroline, did the White House support Speaker Johnson canceling the votes
01:01today over the Epstein, the vote over the Epstein files being released? I'm not sure
01:05if anyone here spoke to the Speaker about that. As you know, we're always in pretty
01:08good communication with the Speaker of the House, but the president himself has
01:12said that if the Department of Justice has credible evidence, they should release
01:16it. The president has made it very clear in the proposals that he has spoken to the Israelis
01:33about and they've agreed upon and that have been sent to Hamas that he wants to see the
01:38release of all of the hostages. And that includes the remains of the hostages who unfortunately lost
01:43their lives while being held hostage in Gaza. So that's a critical part of the president's
01:48efforts to draw a ceasefire and bring this war to an end. So I'm going to go inside and
01:52talk to those families about that. And I'll see you all tomorrow.
01:54I'll see you all tomorrow at the briefing. Thank you.
