The Ship in Bishop’s Sutton will reopen its doors next month as the 16th-century pub takes on a new lease of life.
Now owned by Kelly Shaw, a first-time publican with a background in cybersecurity and interior design, it will be a laid-back but ambitious all-day pub.
It promises great coffee for dog walkers stopping for a break, comfort for those who wish to settle in for a long lunch, and a 22-cover private dining room for special occasions.
Heading up the kitchen is Michelin-starred chef Tristan Lee, whose menu is short, seasonal and full of flavour. Highlights include ham hock doughnuts with piccalilli, plaice goujons doused in brown butter, pork schnitzel with samphire and fennel remoulade, trout with roasted shallots, bacon and watercress, beetroot tart with ricotta and cherries, chocolate mousse and lemon meringue pie.
