00:00Please can you tell me what an MP is?

00:03So as a Member of Parliament or an MP I am your representative for Monmouthshire in Parliament

00:11so I try and listen to all the views and issues that people have down here in Monmouthshire

00:16and then take them to Parliament to talk to Ministers to raise in speeches in the Chamber

00:21and try and get the change that you want to see.

00:24What would a typical day look like for you?

00:27So every day is different as an MP but Monday to Thursday I'm up in Parliament in Westminster

00:33so up there I'll be maybe going to give a speech in the Chamber on an issue

00:38then I might have a meeting with a Minister say on the rivers

00:42and then maybe I'll be at the Women and Equality Select Committee

00:46or welcoming people, constituents from Monmouthshire often come to Parliament to see me

00:51which is fantastic and then obviously if I'm in Westminster they'll be voting.

00:56Down here in Monmouthshire a typical day is I'll go out and do a surgery at a community centre

01:05so I can hear directly from people about their issues and try and solve them.

01:09I'll go maybe and visit say the Chepstow Community Bridge or a community group or go and see a farm

01:17and maybe in the evening I'll have an event I need to go to like maybe the Caldecott Male Voice Choir or something like that.

01:24So every day is different but the main thing I seem to think that I do is listening to people

01:30and trying to help them and solve their problems.

01:34What are your priorities as MP in Monmouthshire?

01:37So my big priorities are first of all the economy. We need to get the economy growing

01:42so that we've got more money for people in their pockets every day in Monmouthshire.

01:47My second big priority is around the environment. I know how deeply you all care about the rivers

01:52and about the wildlife in those rivers so we need to clean up our rivers.

01:56And then my third priority is around equalities and campaigning on violence against women

02:03so that we can end violence against women.
