00:00Who saved Nimisha Priya? That's what the fight is all about now. Even though the Kerala-based
00:07nurse is still imprisoned, taking credit for getting her execution delayed has become a
00:11matter of political clout and pride in Kerala. Kanthapuram AP Abubakar Musliyar is a renowned
00:16Muslim cleric from Kerala and is said to have made last-minute efforts to haul Priya's execution
00:21with support from a Yemeni Sufi scholar as per news agencies. However, Samuel Jerome,
00:25who led the Nimisha Priya Action Council and has been advocating for her release for years,
00:30said that no religious leaders were involved in the postponement. Users on social media are also
00:34criticizing the Kerala media for hyping Musliyar's role, saying it overshadowed India's diplomatic
00:39efforts. While the Kerala CM and MP Shashi Tharoor lauded Musliyar's efforts, with the ruling CPM
00:45praising him for showing the world the real Kerala story. CPM's alignment with Musliyar-led AP Group,
00:50which is a Muslim community-based group, may also explain the praise. Meanwhile, MEI spokesperson
00:55Randhir Jaiswal said on 17th July that they had no information to share about Musliyar's role.
