00:00Listen to my instructions at all times, watch your head, no low blows.
00:03When I say break, step back, defend yourselves at all times, touch gloves.
00:07Touch gloves, thank you. Coming up to two years as a pro now,
00:11and the sixth outing in his fourth country, Adam Hamed continuing his career,
00:18very much under the spotlight. He calls for these sort of occasions, he looks skillful,
00:24fair amount of teamwork, and he's in with his equal, Greg Ores.
00:29Liking the look of young Hammer, Darren?
00:32Yeah, I really am, I like the way he's progressing, look, he's got a great team behind him,
00:36Jamie Moore, Nigel Travis, and they're really helping this man develop, who is,
00:41I have to say, learning on the job, but showing a lot, I promise, he really is,
00:46that for someone who doesn't have any amateur experience, he sets trap,
00:49he's always thinking about how you can find the next shot, and that's so important,
00:52you can see there, good movement, good defence, which is so important,
00:56and you're a novice going through the ranks, but Barry a lot to like.
01:00Yeah, I wrote down him, I noticed that he's starting to take shape,
01:02and I think that's important, I think he's really starting to develop.
01:06Again, with the lack of experience he's had, you know, turning pro pretty much off the cuff,
01:10you don't always inherit everything from your father, unfortunately, so he has to learn about
01:15things that are not going to go right, not going to go wrong, so it's not about rushing him,
01:18he fights like this where, you know, he should win, but he's going to learn a bit,
01:21bits of all himself in each fight, these are the fights that he needs to be in now to develop,
01:25and hopefully become a championship fighter.
01:28He was an exceptional tennis player once upon a time, Adam Hamed, who's being cheered on
01:33by his brother Sami at ringside alongside Naz right opposite us,
01:38how much entertainment he gave us over the years, and Adam wants to carve his own path,
01:45and that's the right way to do it, he's really focused, he wants this business,
01:50you can't play with boxing. I'll tell you what, there's some real nice subtle movements,
01:54I've already mentioned the footwork, but other than the obvious gliding out of range and bringing
01:59your feet when he throws the shots, after he's thrown the object, he'll just take a little step
02:02to his right or his left, he's looking for further openings, and that's intelligent boxing.
02:07I'm just stealing that space with the front foot, isn't he? We're not getting too close,
02:10make sure that jab's nice and long, that so-called jab's looking really well here for Hamed.
02:1527 fights for his equal, Gregorioz. He's known around Britain,
02:22he's only been stopped a handful of times.
02:25And that's the big thing you look at, Adam, when you look at a journeyman coming into a contest,
02:30you look at how many times they've been stopped, and you understand what kind of journeyman they are.
02:33Gregorioz, as you said, just stopped four times that 24 fight, so he knows how to survive,
02:39so it becomes a challenge in itself now for Hamed.
02:42Lovely jab went in about 15 seconds or so ago from that southpaw stance from Adam Hamed.
02:48Of course, Jamie Moore, his exceptional trainer, was a southpaw himself, and that's useful.
02:56I like the way he's tucked himself away with Jamie Moore, his dad just sort of looking on,
03:02a little bit like Conor and Nigel, letting the team do the work.
03:05It takes a strong character, but no, there's not to make it all about Naz here,
03:08but it makes a strong character to, you know, when you've been so successful and good at your job,
03:11to trust other people with yourself, and he's sort of done that, and rightly so,
03:15because he's with a good team here in Jamie Moore and Travis, but he's boxing well here,
03:20but just a little bit more turn into that hand, that left hand there, I think.
03:23I think you push up that back leg a little bit more here, Hamed.
03:26He's got the range with the jab, and I'll just have a little more weight in that left hand.
03:40Show them, big deep breath with Jerry Mack, perfect.
03:43Okay, two or three little wild brushes that we knew we would do, yeah?
03:47The only thing you can do better is when he does it, let him do it the third time,
03:54the second time, and as soon as he does it, step on and come on and drop that to him, yeah?
03:58But your feet are really nice, and when Conor comes on, coming on, and as he settles,
04:02he thinks nothing's coming back, yeah? We catch him by surprise.
04:06Other than that, there's a front hand.
04:07Stay busy with him.
04:09Stay busy with him.
04:10In the corner for Adam Hammond, what he flowed, didn't he, through that?
04:16And here you can see, the heavens have opened at Wembley Stadium.
04:22It was balmy yesterday, 30 degrees of heat, certainly in that box park for the weigh-in.
04:30But we hope for a little bit of late sunshine.
04:33I could just see a flicker over there at the other side of the stadium.
04:36It's sunny one side, raining the other side, so I don't know what that's all about.
04:40Where's the rainbow?
04:41There'll be a rainbow above, that'll be great.
04:43What I did like there in the corner, Adam,
04:45was Hamed really fixated on the eyes of Jamie Moore, listening to instructions.
04:50I can remember, even with my amateur pedigree, you know,
04:52boxing loads and loads of times as an amateur.
04:54When I turned professional, I fought the big shows.
04:56I was a deer in headlights, looking around, seeing where everyone was.
04:59So the fact that he's concentrating shows the temperament of the man.
05:02But you know when you've got a good fighter, from the trainer's perspective,
05:05when you don't have to tell him too much in the corner,
05:07when he's starting to learn to think for himself.
05:09So all the instructions in the corner is to gear him up,
05:12to take that information and use it in his own little realm.
05:15Because all these set game plans are no good,
05:18because things can happen in a round and a fight
05:20that you have to learn to think on your feet.
05:22And when you don't have that amateur pedigree,
05:24that long-stand amateur pedigree like Darren and ourself had,
05:26and certainly Karl up in the studio there,
05:28then you have to learn on the job.
05:31Frank Warren and Nassim Hamad, they were the team back in the day.
05:36And now Frank looking after Nass' son.
05:39He's entrusted Adam, and he's a lovely young man,
05:43brought up well Adam Hamad.
05:44I sat next to him at the Chisora-Volin fight.
05:47And he's really mature, and I like his attitude in the game,
05:52and I like the way he's going about this job against Ezekiel Gregores,
05:55who can make fighters look a little bit novice-y,
05:58but Hamad boxing well.
06:01Yeah, look, a massively losing record, Gregores,
06:05but I've seen him in the past, as you mentioned some of the names,
06:08and he can frustrate you.
06:10Never looks like he's going to win a fight,
06:12but he can make you miss, and he's a good fighter
06:14when it comes to surviving, if you like.
06:16But yeah, Hamad, he's staying switched on,
06:18working well behind the lead hand.
06:21Looking good.
06:22Turning to the left hand there, Hamad's a lovely shot.
06:25And that's got a bit of power in that backhand,
06:27and we need to see more of that from him.
06:29Because it's a step as well, Barry, wasn't it?
06:30Yeah, just push off that back foot, that's all the difference.
06:32You turn off that back foot, that back foot,
06:34then you turn the hips into the shot,
06:35and it becomes a real weapon.
06:37But I think he's got an opponent here
06:39who is just on the end of all his shots.
06:40He's not really, you know, his hands are high,
06:42but there's nothing coming back.
06:43So I think for Hamad,
06:44he can be a little more adventurous, I feel like.
06:47This is the round that the charismatic Greek,
06:49based in Britain.
06:50Estathios Antonis stopped Gregores in the second.
06:55That was in Liverpool in April.
06:59Maybe that's the secret there, just change that,
07:02just change the angle of the shot,
07:03rather than straight down the line,
07:04start putting the screw shot into play
07:06and hook him on the back of the glove.
07:08And what he's done as well in that last fight
07:10against Estathios Gonzalez,
07:12he used the momentum of Gonzalez
07:14to walk him onto a lovely right hook,
07:16and every now and again you see Gregores
07:18does sort of jump forward.
07:20There's an opportunity like that to throw that right hook.
07:22I'm sure he'll want to get the knockout, Adam Hamad,
07:26but also the rounds of education has been a little inactive
07:30at times in the last couple of years,
07:32so this is all good.
07:34Get it back, big deep breath, 10 seconds.
07:43Perfect.
07:44Next week, perfect.
07:46Do you see them when you're good, when you're confident?
07:48Again here, Hamad just controlling everything.
07:51It's all off that south floor right-hand jab.
07:53Everything, once he lands that solid jab there,
07:56he puts Gregores in a defensive position,
07:58and he's allowed to let his hands go then freely,
08:00though with a bit more confidence, no jeopardy,
08:02but then he can come in fact.
08:03He's boxing well, boxing control,
08:05and he could up the pace surely.
08:06Lots of things he could do better,
08:07but I think right now, for his development where he is,
08:10it's a really good display so far.
08:11The National Stadium,
08:17and the rainbow that Darren Barker predicted.
08:21Where's the pot of gold?
08:22So what's your prediction of the main event?
08:24Because that came true.
08:25Well, I'll tell you what, it's an intriguing matchup.
08:28It really is because of the form Dubois on,
08:31but he's in with a master.
08:32He really is.
08:34Lovely jab again from Hamad to start this round.
08:38What a setting to perform on for
08:42Young Adam.
08:43Nice take there from Hamad.
08:45Lovely work.
08:46That might not be the defense for him.
08:48It's just accelerated, hasn't he?
08:51The pace here.
08:53Still eyes etched with concentration as
08:56as equal Gregores just looks to cover up on the ropes in front of us.
09:05Nice work.
09:06Yeah, that left forget barriers you were calling for.
09:08A bit more poking it this time.
09:09That's just building in confidence, isn't it?
09:13As the round goes on, a bit more success and feeling more comfortable there.
09:16Just hold your feet for that little half a second longer than,
09:18than you were in the, in the earlier rounds.
09:20Lovely jab and Barry, you're right.
09:22He didn't have a, a long amateur career.
09:24He came to boxing fairly late.
09:26He's turned pro and he's, he's got to learn fight by fight with these different types of journeymen.
09:32He does, but your opponent doesn't care about that.
09:34So they, they don't, they don't allow you anything.
09:36Oh, he's just learning the training, so I'll take it easy.
09:38I mean, the opponents now will go learn in fights, but when he comes against a competitive opponent,
09:43they're going to want to try and rush it and try and get him up with rhythm.
09:46And it's all, for me, it's all about being able to think on your feet.
09:48Yeah, and you're learning about yourself when you, you haven't had the amateur pedigree
09:53and you, you're learning on the job, as you say.
09:55You're learning a lot about yourself, what you're good at, what you're not good at,
09:58and you want to improve in the areas, not so much.
10:01And I like a lot of the subtle movement with the feet.
10:05Yeah, he seems to just naturally do some very good stuff,
10:08and he just takes a little step to the right or the left to find the opening.
10:12Really, really good.
10:13You can't really compare him to his dad, who was a one-off and boxed largely as a southpaw,
10:18but also switched dances.
10:19But I tell you what Naz always had was great balance.
10:22And I think Adam might have that.
10:24I tell you what, though, I was just thinking about his dad.
10:26He's not trying to be his dad, I think that's good.
10:28He's not trying to box like his dad, he's not jumping in from,
10:30he tried that early in his career, he said jump in from outside like Naz would do so well.
10:34But he's got a different body frame, different experience, Naz boxed from a child,
10:38and had that power when he was nine years of age, so he hasn't got that.
10:41But he's boxing, he's being his belt, but he's boxing well.
10:43And even personality as well, Adam and Barry, you know,
10:46he's not trying to be a flash cocky individual, is he?
10:49He's a nice lad, he's very respectful.
10:51He's boxing nicely, yeah.
10:54You just called Naz would be cocky.
10:56Yeah, 100%.
10:57Work from Hammond again with the combination, here comes Kregoras,
11:03just trying to liven up at the end of rounds.
11:06There's the experience of the circuit fighter.
11:09He'll want to go the distance tonight, the Argentinian, so he can fight next week
11:14or the week after, that's how they do business.
11:18They don't want to get stopped.
11:20I'd just like to see Hammond throw one, two, do a little half step back,
11:23and then come back with that left hand on the middle.
11:25One, two, little step, and then push up that back leg for the second phase of attack.
11:29All three rounds though, to Adam Hammond.
11:33Now he's looking impressed, the other side of the ropes from us.
11:42And this is a guy that we're all very, very impressed with.
11:46Moses Itauma, the undefeated sensation really.
11:51The 20-year-old from Chatham has his big test or biggest so far
11:56against the man we've known for years, Dillian White, household name of course,
12:02and the headline act of eSports World Cup fight week.
12:06We're off to Riyadh, August the 16th. It's a busy summer.
12:11It really is, and I love that fight.
12:13And this is an intriguing fight as well.
12:15Sol Dacre's looking to bounce back after a big, big defeat against David Adelaide.
12:21He's in tough here though with Sorenko, 22 wins, 19 west off in Barry.
12:25He got a chance, because Sorenko's a bit of a plodder at times,
12:28and Dacre can be really low down his feet, and he's been criticized for that,
12:31but that might work for him in this fight.
12:32You go and tell him he's a bit of a plodder backstage.
12:38Adam Hammond cruising to victory here against his equal,
12:41and Gregora's heavyweight match-ups ahead.
12:45We could like heavyweight fight as well between Daniel Lappen and Louis Edmondson.
12:51That's one to really look forward to later on.
12:54Of course, all building up to Usyk Dubois,
12:58to the stadium beginning to fill up.
13:01Wembley Way packed all day.
13:05Boxfest was lively, and everyone looking forward to a fabulous night for British sport.
13:12Adam Hammond boxing really nicely behind the jab.
13:14He's keeping his cool. It's a mature display.
13:17And he's trying to change the angles with the shots here.
13:20I just see the school shot with the right hand there, with the lead hand,
13:22and just throwing the hook on the side. That's good, that.
13:25It's not just breaking the fence open, and then allow you to throw the punches on the line there.
13:29Yeah, and fair play to Gregora. He's having a go here, but that might suit Hammond.
13:34Might create further openings when he over commits, falls over the front foot,
13:37as he does there. There's an opportunity for Hammond to land that right hook.
13:41And all that is just, when you retreat, rather than come back high,
13:45you just come back a little bit low. That makes you bend that back leg,
13:48and allows you, and almost invites you, and force you to push back off it.
13:52That just showing some inexperience there, Adam. You just see him putting his head low, Hammond.
13:57I think the more that opponents come to him and let their hands go,
14:02sparring is going to be so important for Hammond in his development.
14:05Well, he's in a cracking stable, and one of his colleagues is behind us
14:11commanding for talk sport tonight, Dave Allen, who had that huge win over Johnny Fisher,
14:16Pat Brown rolling as well. Jamie Moore's stable is red hot, and he's going to learn a lot there.
14:23He has got so many different styles there, so you don't think of it's shot.
14:27Yeah, just troubled, Gregorio.
14:28That was lovely, wasn't it? And again, side to side, the Argentinian says,
14:35come on then, can Hammond finish in style?
14:38Well, Gregorio's showing his toughness there, but there's a lovely little variety of the work there from Hammond.
14:42I'll tell you what, though, Hammond, I will say, as good as he's been up until this round,
14:46he's lost his shape a little bit in this final round. Defensively,
14:49he's sort of been a bit wary of the shots coming his way, and he's put his head down a couple of times,
14:55so more work required defensively, I think.
14:59That's just concentration, Dan. He sees the last round. He's got so much his own way.
15:04He's probably trying to finish strong and do a flashy a little bit, maybe.
15:07I think he needs some momentum as well. That was a long time ago we saw him in Riyadh.
15:12This is a four-rounder. I think we want to see him active, don't we? September, maybe November, December.
15:17A couple more fights this year. Yeah, early in your career, it's very important to be as active as you can,
15:22fighting all these journeymen, getting experience, doing the rounds, different styles,
15:25and then that accelerates you closer to some sort of area of time if you're going to be good enough to get in that level.
15:32Family Hammond clapping at ringside.
15:36They'll be impressed with those four rounds.
15:39Busy night for Frank Warren with his home Daniel Dubois, aiming to become undisputed heavyweight champion Frank,
15:50who stuck by Daniel through all the ups and downs.
15:5688% believe Adam Hammond won that on fan zone. I don't quite understand that, Aaron.
16:00Yeah, 12%. I'm not too sure where that comes from. Look, Gregores had a go in that last round.
16:06He lost his shape, as we say, at times, Hammond. There were some good flurries of shots, though.
16:11The left hand, he started to really rotate a little bit more. Big smile on the face of Gregores.
16:16As you say, he'll probably be out next weekend, mate.
16:18He just wanted to hear the final bell. Queensbury have a good prospect in Adam Hammond.
16:24They've got a good build next week in Bournemouth. And also...
16:32In August, they have more action, too.
16:38It's make or break. Old GM ice dome. British and Commonwealth super lightweight champion Jack Rafferty
16:46putting his titles on the line against the man who was Turkey El Sheik's favorite a while ago.
16:51Portsmouth Mark Chamberlain. Really good domestic dust up there.
16:56Saturday, the 23rd of August. Another Queensbury show.
17:01Let's get it official. I think the fan zone could say 100%. Adam Hammond has won every round.
17:07Ladies and gentlemen, after four rounds of boxing, our referee in charge, Amy Pugh,
17:18scores the contest 42-36 for your winner, and still undefeated, Prince Adam Hammond.
17:30Sixth fight and sixth victory for Adam Hammond. He has to go the distance against his equal,
17:43Gregores, half by knockout, you can see now. Great team around him.
17:50And he's got a great future. Good performance, solid, not spectacular tonight.
17:56What do we like about it?
18:04What do we like about it?
