00:00Okay gentlemen, you both received your instructions, so bring my command at all times, protect yourself at all times, anything from here on up is good, anything from here on up is good. Talk to us, good luck to you.
00:13Alan Higgins, a third man in the ring for Eric Priest, who's 15-0 with eight KOs, a definite big test for Eric Priest tonight, as the veteran Luis Adias, who's a plus 500 underdog here in Las Vegas, is thinking upset because he feels different, and Sergio, you're saying he's a live dog.
00:40Very live dog, look man, I've been following Luis Adias for some time now, when he went the distance with Daniel Jacobs, I was impressed, when he beat Jared Hurts, I was really impressed, this is a guy that's a, he's kind of one of these guys that never gets an opportunity, but when he does get an opportunity, he can either upset you, or just give you everything, and really make it tough for you, we're going to find out a lot about Eric Priest in this fight, because it's do or die, last chance for Adias.
01:06Yes, yeah, Adias said, I'm not a gatekeeper, I don't want to be a gatekeeper, he's on the B-side tonight against the undefeated, hot prospect Eric Priest, who, with the distance with Tyler Howard in his last fight in January, controlled that fight, and everybody could tell, this is going to be your toughest test, pass that with flying colors.
01:25Which is training with Julian Chua, they feel like they have a different connection now, one of the things is, letting him sit down on his punches for Priest in the white.
01:38Yeah, right now, I like what I see with Priest, he's using the entire ring right now, he's not staying in front of Adias too long, he's using, he's going left, he's going right, keeping the fight in the middle of the ring, that's what he's going to have to do, to beat a tough guy, like Adias, stay off the ropes, keep the fight right in the center.
01:55And Jorge Capatia, the trainer, Adias said, we need to come out aggressive and be first, and he's doing that.
02:00It's shot by Adias, he's having a good right hand, Priest, eight down.
02:04Don't push the ball, don't push the ball.
02:07And for Adias, with those four losses and a draw at 34, yeah, I don't want to be the gatekeeper, but if you're losing, you're getting pushed that way, a win turns things around.
02:17That's actually one of the first questions I have for him, when we spoke to him in a fighter meeting, I wanted to see where his head was at, where his pride was at.
02:25And you know what, he gave me the right response, he had hunger in his voice, he said all the right things, it's a last chance and he knows it.
02:32There's so many fighters, you know, they start off young, the hot prospect, bigger shows, and you see him in their mid-30s, like, okay, do they have it, or are they just here for the check?
02:42It's Adias like, no, I got that fire still.
02:45It's a perfect opportunity for him to upset the apple cloud.
02:49I mean, Eric Priest, there's a lot to like about him.
02:51Absolutely.
02:51But he needs to get tested.
02:53I want to see how he reacts when he gets, you know, in a rough fight.
02:57Adias likes to make it rough.
02:59The only way that Luis Adias wins this fight is if he makes it a tough and rugged fight.
03:04And Priest shouldn't allow that.
03:05Yeah, Priest should be boxing and controlling this fight, which is a hot prospect, right?
03:09Which is what he's doing right now, like the bounce in his feet, you know, he's keeping the range, he's using his advantages, I like that quick jab right there.
03:16So far, so good, but when you're dealing with veterans, you know, these early rounds, they're letting you be the young man, they're letting you use your youth and vigor.
03:25The experience will come in later.
03:28Ten seconds to go in the opening round.
03:30This was scheduled for ten.
03:32Our co-feature, Golden Boy Fight Night from Las Vegas.
03:36Good, no rush.
03:48You don't got to rush anymore.
03:49Take a deep breath.
03:50Hey, I don't want you to get that in your head, though, all right?
03:53Listen to me.
03:54I don't want you to get that in your head, okay?
03:56Look, keep working that stiff jab, okay?
03:58Yeah.
03:59Every time you guys have distance between each other, you use that stiff jab.
04:02If you think he's going to counter, you feint him, okay?
04:04Yeah.
04:04Now, when you get to the ropes, you know he's going to look for either that right hook to the body or the right hand over the top, okay?
04:10Remember, your priority is to pivot off the rope, okay?
04:13You get him back on that jab.
04:14You go back around, yeah?
04:16Of course.
04:16Okay.
04:17Yeah, okay?
04:18Keep letting all your combinations come off your jab.
04:20Don't try to throw anything without it.
04:22You understand?
04:23Yep.
04:24Your combinations come off of your jab.
04:26Yes, sir.
04:26Behind the jab.
04:27Yes, sir, yeah.
04:28Right?
04:31Priest saying he doesn't hit hard, and Julian Chu telling him, don't worry about that.
04:36Yeah, power's always at the end of the list.
04:38Like I said earlier, Beto, it's technique, it's speed.
04:41It's a lot of things.
04:43Punch placement, punch selection.
04:45Power comes in the end.
04:47But Priest asking, was that my round?
04:50Should he worry about that?
04:51No, he shouldn't worry about that.
04:52He should just be worried about jabbing, keeping the fight in the middle of the ring, and following instructions.
04:56I love Julian Chu.
04:58I love listening to Julian Chu in the corner.
05:00It's concise, it's to the point, and it says all the right things at the right time.
05:05Julian Chu trained at Wild Card with Freddie Roach and Marvin Samorio now at Brickhouse Boxing in Southern California.
05:12He has Surdo Ramirez there.
05:15Good environment at the Brickhouse Gym.
05:21Well, Arias, who's been going for a different change.
05:23He was at Churchill in Southern California.
05:25He was with Salas here in Las Vegas.
05:26Well, these two actually sparred once, but neither of them really remembers.
05:32Nothing memorable there.
05:34Yeah, Arias is going to have to move his head, make Priest miss in order for him to get off balance.
05:40He's put Priest off balance.
05:41Priest has really good footwork.
05:43Nice in-and-out style.
05:44Okay, got it.
05:45So in order to get him off that rhythm, you're going to have to foot bend.
05:50You're going to have to get him in position, you know, get him to react to something that's not there.
05:54Then you attack with your aggression.
05:56That's what Arias needs to do.
06:00See, that's what you don't want to do is make an easy target for Priest.
06:05You know, you don't want to give him a target.
06:06You want to keep your head movement, defense.
06:09Don't let him touch nothing.
06:09Even though those punches aren't landing, Beto, they're still, they're not landing cleanly on the face or they're laying on the glove.
06:19You get, you get a good, it's good to you.
06:21You get a rhythm.
06:22You find some comfort.
06:24But when you make them miss, you're making them second guess.
06:28That's what you want to do with, with, with young fighters.
06:30Make them miss.
06:33There's Aria who's missing.
06:35Let it go, let it go.
06:36Stop.
06:36And Aria's rough.
06:38Stop, okay?
06:39Listen.
06:40All right.
06:41Salty, that moves right there.
06:43Yeah, and that's what you're going to expect from Luis Arias.
06:46That's what you're always expecting when you're going to see an Aria's fight.
06:49Once he gets on the inside, he works the body, both hands, comes over the top.
06:55He makes it rough in there.
06:56That's his fight.
06:58It's our co-feature, the main event, Stoicam, of Darius Bulgerman, Beck the Bully here in Las Vegas.
07:07That's a good jab right there by Priest.
07:09On the inside, on the outside.
07:11I like that.
07:11Watch your hands.
07:12Watch your hands.
07:12Watch your hands.
07:13Watch your hands.
07:17Watch your hands, okay?
07:18Watch your hands, okay?
07:21Referee Allen Huggins with a warning for both of them.
07:25Be careful.
07:25That's the second round is winding down.
07:29Good shot from Pierce.
07:31Good shot.
07:32That's a perfect timing there by Eric Priest.
07:34And that time is Arias.
07:38Hit after.
07:38One point deduction.
07:39And he's getting a point deducted.
07:41Oh, already?
07:42One point deduction.
07:44I told you before.
07:45Listen, okay?
07:46No hitting on the break.
07:48Time in.
07:49Box.
07:49Allen Huggins is not messing around.
07:53Arias has been born.
07:55Hit on the break and loses a point.
07:57I'm not going to have it, okay?
07:58Listen to me, all right?
07:59I don't like that point deduction, Beto.
08:01Way too early.
08:03It's the 10-8 round for threes.
08:05The final club to qualify for the highly anticipated FIFA Club World Cup 2025 will be tournament
08:11tomorrow when LAFC takes on Mexican squad Gloob America.
08:17They're going to go head-to-head in a high-stakes playing match at Pimo Stadium in LA.
08:23Remember, all tournament matches will be live-streamed for free on TheZone.com beginning June 14th.
08:29Nice right hand.
08:30Beautiful shot right there.
08:32He caught, he caught Arias coming in.
08:34And look, man, one punch was free.
08:37One arm was free.
08:38He was able to punch with that free hand.
08:40I didn't like that point deduction at all by Allen Huggins.
08:42Let the men fight on the inside.
08:44That's how Arias is going to win this fight, by making it rough.
08:48Yeah, Huggins was holding their hand.
08:50Yeah, that was, that was terrible deduction.
08:54Yeah, you would be born of a warning.
08:56One harsh warning would have done it, but right away to duck the point.
09:00Not good.
09:01That's big.
09:07Eric Priest in 2024.
09:10Had decision wins over Luca Loso and Jose Sanchez-Charles.
09:14He swept the cards, but they were pedestrian-like.
09:17He didn't leave anything where you're like, oh my god, I gotta see him.
09:21Got the work, got the experience.
09:22Good shot.
09:23But he looks different today.
09:25Good shot by Priest.
09:26Beautiful right hand.
09:27Priest coming out aggressive.
09:29This isn't the Priest we saw last year, and he's letting his hands go with combinations.
09:32No, it is not.
09:33This is exactly what we want to see from Eric Priest.
09:36It was a nice, short right hand that hurt Arias.
09:39Arias trying to get off the ropes, and he does it to the middle of the round, but he's got his hands up as Priest is controlling this round.
09:46Oh, Eric Priest in the first minute.
09:49I did not expect this from Eric Priest, man.
09:52This is beautiful combination punching.
09:55Every punch in the book.
09:56Being responsible defensively.
09:58Not smothering himself.
10:00Excellent work by Priest.
10:01I've never seen Priest look like this, and I've called all of his Golden Boy fights.
10:05Don't swing him around.
10:06Don't swing him around.
10:07That's exactly what you gotta do is swing him around.
10:09Yeah.
10:10Yeah.
10:11Pantry.
10:12Pantry.
10:13Pantry.
10:14Pantry.
10:16Pantry.
10:18Pantry is swinging missing.
10:19Finally gets an uppercut through.
10:20Priest keeps on coming.
10:22Halfway through the third round.
10:24Man, he's looking really good.
10:26Look from Priest as he gets out of there.
10:31Bouncing on his toes in white and red.
10:34Back, step back, step back.
10:35No kidney punches, okay?
10:36Box.
10:37Box.
10:43Keeps on throwing that jab is Priest.
10:45Then he follows it up with a hook.
10:46Arias with the hook of his own.
10:48Right hand and a hook from Arias.
10:50He's fighting back with a minute to go in the third.
10:52Nice hook there by Arias.
10:53That's just something that Priest shouldn't do.
10:55He fights tall, shouldn't pull back with his head in the air.
10:58Even though his hand was up, he can still get clipped.
11:01Arias with a body shot.
11:02You gotta stay low if you're a taller fighter.
11:04You gotta stay low and pivot out.
11:06Stop!
11:07Step back.
11:08Priest!
11:09Nice jab right there.
11:10Popping that jab.
11:11It's been so effective here in the third round for Priest, that jab.
11:16Big swing in a minute for the kid from Kansas.
11:17Yeah, Priest was trying to set up that uppercut, but, you know, it's a dangerous punch to throw as a lead punch.
11:33Arias was coming over the top of the right hand.
11:36Priest was looking for that uppercut.
11:38It'll serve Eric Priest right to start jabbing and boxing like he was in the first, second round.
11:44Don't exchange.
11:45Not this early against Arias.
11:46Not against a veteran.
11:47Excellent.
11:48Third round for Eric Priest.
11:49Good!
11:50Hold it.
11:51Hold it.
11:52Hold it.
11:53Come in.
11:54In through the nose.
11:55Hold it.
11:56Feel your heart slow.
11:57Come on, hold it.
11:58Hold it.
11:59Hold it.
12:00Hold it.
12:01Hold it.
12:02Hold it.
12:03Come in.
12:04In through the nose.
12:05Hold it.
12:06Feel your heart slow.
12:07Come on, hold it.
12:08Hold it.
12:09Hold it.
12:10Hold it.
12:11Hold it.
12:12Good.
12:13Slow it down.
12:14One more.
12:15Okay?
12:17This is Eric Priest.
12:19An aggressive Eric Priest right there.
12:22That right hand was nice, but he landed a delayed jab and broke the monotony and then popped him with that right hand.
12:28Perfect shot.
12:29See, it wasn't a one-two right off the bat, Beto.
12:31It was a one with a pause, then he came with that right hand perfectly.
12:35And this is where the referee, Alan Huggins, is getting a little bit too much involved.
12:39This is exactly what fighters do.
12:41Yes, he used his arm to maneuver him around, but that's what you see in the gym.
12:45That's what you do often.
12:46That's what you get taught.
12:48It wasn't worth the harsh warning for that.
12:50I don't like to see referees get involved way too much.
12:53We already seen a point deduction.
12:54You don't need to get involved anymore.
12:56And Priest prints out of his corner.
13:00Already had a 10-8 round in the second, and Adias had a point deducted for hitting late.
13:06This is a different Eric Priest.
13:09Good right hand right there by Adias.
13:11That's what he needs to do.
13:12He needs to use his disadvantage in height.
13:15You know, you can get yourself smaller and come over the top with the looping shots of a total fighter.
13:20But you got to set that up with jabs downstairs, with foot feints, and get the younger fighter to get overconfident to come over the top.
13:28The game plan from Capetillo for Adias was come out, be first, be aggressive, take charge.
13:35It's not working, Sergio.
13:36No, it is not.
13:37Not yet, at least.
13:38Yeah, we were talking about it before, about how Priest has been the slower starter, hasn't got out of third gear many times.
13:47No, no, not tonight, at least so far.
13:50No, he needed it.
13:51I think he needed it against a veteran like Luis Arias, you know.
13:54You got to let him know that you're not the young in here.
13:58Just because you're the young bull doesn't mean that you're going to let the old bull take control.
14:02You see the total punches thrown through three rounds.
14:14Adias should be jabbing at the belly.
14:16There you go.
14:17That's what you need to do as a shorter fighter.
14:18Aim at the chest.
14:19Watch your feet.
14:20And jab your way in, aiming at the midsection of Priest.
14:25And more upper body movement.
14:28That's what I want to see from Adias.
14:29In order to break that distance, you got to do it responsibly.
14:32Moving your head, making yourself smaller and smaller.
14:34He's able to escape whenever he wants.
14:36There you go.
14:37That's what I want to see from Adias.
14:38You want to start digging the body.
14:40Good jab from Adias.
14:42That's what I don't want to see from Adias.
14:44It's looping over the shot, over the top, missing like that, falling off balance.
14:48As an older fighter, that takes away your legs when you miss.
14:51Overhand right.
14:53Surgeon to that point.
14:55Capetillo was telling me when Adias was getting his hand grabbed.
14:58He's like, Adias has a tendency to fall in love with the overhand shot.
15:02We don't want that.
15:03We want to go to the body.
15:04Hands free.
15:05And look, there's nothing wrong with those overhand shots.
15:08But you got to fool your opponent into them.
15:10You got to get your opponent to get lazy.
15:12And just start thinking of body.
15:13You know, you jab him downstairs.
15:14Throw all right hands to the body.
15:16Let him get a little bit overconfident.
15:18Then you come over the top.
15:21You know, smart young fighters like Eric Priest, they're not going to fall for that right off the bat.
15:26You got to make, fool them into it.
15:28You got to lie to them early.
15:30There you go.
15:31And he goes upstairs as Adias in red.
15:35That was a good combination of the body by Luis Adias.
15:39Final seconds of the fourth round.
15:45This was scheduled for 10.
15:46Our co-man is starting to heat up.
15:48There he is.
16:06D.F.G.
16:07Our main event for Golden Boy Fight Night.
16:1014 and 0.
16:1212 KOs.
16:13They show him inside the building.
16:15A big reaction for the man from Houston.
16:23Uzbekistan's own, Bectamir Malikuzyev.
16:28Trading in Indio, California.
16:31The bullies, the nickname.
16:3315 and 1.
16:3410 KOs.
16:35Two young fighters.
16:36Putting it on the line.
16:37That's coming up next.
16:38Go back.
16:40Go back.
16:41Go back.
16:42Two back a bit.
16:43I didn't expect it to go.
16:44Middleweights going at it.
16:58And he's just Eric Priest with a different energy tonight.
17:03I like it.
17:04Yeah.
17:05And he needs it, man.
17:06He needs to be alpha in there and dominate a guy.
17:09You can't give a guy like Adias too much confidence.
17:11He's been in there with the better names, the former champions.
17:14You can't let him get comfortable.
17:18You gotta make him feel like the older fighter.
17:21Adias coming off a win 84 days ago where he went to India.
17:27Knocked out Shiva Takran, a big time fighter in India.
17:31Like, how did the kid from Milwaukee end up there?
17:33He's like, I was just looking for a fight.
17:34They offered it, and I win.
17:36Anthony Pettis, the MMA fighter said, I have a connection for you.
17:39And that's what he did.
17:40Halfway, halfway.
17:42But he's 4-4 and 1 of the last night after starting off 18-0.
17:51Let's go to Julian Chua.
17:55Julian, we have a very active person right now.
17:58What do you like from him so far?
18:00No, I like what he's doing.
18:01He's following our game plan.
18:03He spent a little bit more than I wanted him to when he bursted over there.
18:08But for the most part, he's boxing beautifully.
18:12And he's controlling the fight.
18:14What have you been telling him in between rounds?
18:16Just to not load up so much, you know?
18:18He just needs to let his punches flow just like that.
18:21Smooth shots.
18:22Don't tense up before he punches.
18:25Good defense.
18:26Good defense.
18:27Come back off that roll.
18:28Thank you, Julian.
18:29Smooth shots.
18:31Yep, I agree with Julian Chua.
18:33You know, you don't want to overload and put too much power in between with the shots
18:38and with the veteran.
18:39Guys like Adiaz can catch and counter really easily.
18:41You want to make it difficult for them.
18:42You got to use the entire ring.
18:44Use your youth, your vigor, your jabs.
18:46No need to match.
18:47Come out.
18:48Come out.
18:49Yes.
18:50Priest with a couple of body shots landed as Adiaz is making the effort to the body.
18:55Right hand from Adiaz.
18:56That connects flush.
18:57Priest with the jab.
18:59with the jab the early rounds you can expect the younger fresher fighter to do well it's the second
19:08half where the veteran in adias should he should do better this if he plans on winning this fight
19:15and getting back to a big fight he needs to make it rough this is his fight right here
19:20once he gets on the inside make it rough i have been there done that
19:24and jab your way in there you go jab your way in dick to the body
19:42ten seconds to go in round number five
19:50everything that freese is throwing is a big reaction from his fan base
19:55yes
20:08Nice body work there by Adia, so you could see that Priest was just looking to catch
20:34encounter in between the shots. Staying real cool, real calm in the mix. I like that little
20:39uppercut right there, but he needs to watch out with the looping shots. That's what he told us
20:43that Adia does really well. He makes it rough and rugged and comes over the top.
20:54Reminder, that was a 10-8 round in the second round after Adia was deducted a point for hitting
20:59late. Thank you. Good job. This is the toughest fight of my career, but the battles between
21:09me and me. That's what he said has been the problem with him is even though he's undefeated,
21:15he's been having battles between myself on how I want to do and then the result that
21:20I put in, but I know how good I can be.
21:31Priest looking sharp with that jab right now. Look at that. Trippling it up. Moving to his
21:36left, not letting Adia do that. Nice body shots, but missed that overhand. Right, that's the
21:42one that Adia is looking for, that lightning in the bottle, one-punch knockout. He's not
21:46going to fight him as long as Priest is looking this sharp, not staying in front of him, and
21:51not getting lazy. Being calm and collected, Eric Priest.
21:55The specific conditioning coach telling us that his resting heart rate is at 37.
22:01Hands free, hands free. Nice and in control.
22:05Do not hit behind the head, you understand that? Well, back up, back up, back up, back up.
22:09Box.
22:16And go.
22:17Adios.
22:18For a guy who wanted to be in charge, he's being moved back.
22:24Yeah, this is an important round for Adios, who needs to make a statement, needs to land something,
22:32Who needs to make a statement, needs to land something, you know, meaningful to turn this fight around.
22:39Because right now, the younger fighters are having his way.
22:43As you want another point, you've warned him again.
22:50As Eric Priest said, I saw him fight when I was in high school when he fought Gabe Rosado.
22:57That was a draw back in 2018.
23:02That was a fight where both guys put a $10,000 side bet.
23:06Nice shot there by Arias.
23:10Priest stuck down to his right and stayed there a little bit too long.
23:13You can't do that with veterans.
23:14Watch your heads. Watch your heads.
23:16Is Arias doing anything or enough to win the round?
23:19Not yet, but at least he has landed some shots in this round.
23:24Good shot from Priest.
23:26That's good.
23:28Eric Priest is looking good.
23:30He's looking sharp, really sharp.
23:32And taking chances.
23:33It's not like he's not, you know, staying there for Arias' success.
23:38He's breaking down, Arias.
23:40He's moving him back.
23:41He's pushing him.
23:42I like that push right there.
23:44Take charge.
23:45Take charge.
23:46Absolutely.
23:46Forget the referee.
23:47He's warning you too much.
23:48This is a fight.
23:49This is a fight.
23:49This is a fight.
23:49This is a fight.
23:50This is a fight.
23:50This is a fight.
23:51This is a fight.
23:52Deep breath.
23:57Deep breath.
23:57Deep breath.
23:57Deep breath.
23:58You're good.
23:58Yeah, yeah.
23:59You're more than good.
24:00Listen to me.
24:01Listen to me.
24:01Okay?
24:01When you're stepping up to him, I want you to whip your right hand on the body a couple of
24:06times, then drop and go over the top, okay?
24:08Like I said, you're going to have to trick him into something, right?
24:11The regular shit is not going to work.
24:13IBF Heavyweight Champion Daniel Dubois looks for redemption against the WBA, WBO, and WBC
24:19Heavyweight Champion Usyk.
24:21Highly anticipated rematch for the undisputed title July 19th at Wembley Stadium.
24:27The first fight was won by Usyk, but was now without controversy following a hotly debated
24:32low blow.
24:32Look at the replays.
24:36Yeah, you can see that Arias was looking for something over the top, but he's not setting
24:43it up with body shots.
24:44Look at that body shot right there on the inside by Priest.
24:47Nice little short hook in the inside.
24:49Loved everything I'm seeing by Priest right now.
24:53Everything behind a responsible long jab, too.
24:58Pass me, pass me, don't pass.
24:59Jorge Capetillo says Arias and texts every morning, you've got to work.
25:07Pretty sure that's the message now because I'm running out of time and Arias coming out
25:10with a different energy, but Priest is right there to counter.
25:13This is where we're going to find out if what Luis Arias told us in the fighter meeting.
25:17This is your last chance for him.
25:19You need to make it like it's your last chance.
25:21You've got to take the fight for this younger fighter.
25:25Take chances, put yourself at risk, and throw caution to the wind.
25:30As you said, I'm not being used here.
25:31I can make something happen.
25:33But it's Priest who's making everything happen.
25:36Controlling the fight, dominating the fight, Eric Priest.
25:39This is the best I've seen Eric Priest.
25:41Absolutely.
25:41This is the prospect that they signed.
25:44And you can see that the veteran, the sly veteran in Arias trying to set up a nice wide
25:50left hook right there, but it's not, Priest is not falling for it right now.
25:54Priest is very responsible defensively behind that jab.
25:59Listen.
26:01Time out.
26:03Listen.
26:03I'm giving you a hard warning, okay?
26:06Don't do that anymore.
26:07Knock it off.
26:08Next time it's going to cost you.
26:10Time in.
26:10Hard warning, not a point.
26:13He should have gave a hard warning earlier before he took away the initial point.
26:18You heard it here in the seventh.
26:19Hands free.
26:21Remember Julian Tuohu was told by Eric Priest at the end of the first round, he doesn't
26:26hit hard about Arias.
26:28So Priest is just standing there.
26:30Hands free, hands free.
26:30Well, Arias has never been a puncher.
26:33You know, he's more of a workman-like guy, a tough guy.
26:36He doesn't punch hard, but he takes a big punch.
26:38And his experience, he knows how to make himself small.
26:41He's a rugged fighter.
26:43Oh, nice jab to the body right there by Priest.
26:45Walking back, walking down, Arias now.
26:50No respect for the veteran.
26:52None at all.
26:54So what did Julian Tuohu mean when he said we're going to have to trick him into something?
26:56Well, the instructions that he was getting to Priest was exactly the instructions that
27:02I was telling, I was saying that Luis Arias should be doing.
27:05He should be jamming the body, trying to fool Priest into something over the top.
27:09That's what you do.
27:10That's what they're wanting on the side of Eric Priest.
27:12Touch him downstairs and come over the top with a looping punch.
27:15Good body shots there by Eric Priest.
27:21Watch your heads.
27:22Watch your heads.
27:23Quick.
27:24Stop.
27:25Stop back.
27:26Watch.
27:28Yeah, you can see that Arias, the older fighter, 34-year-old fighter.
27:31He didn't like those body shots.
27:32You can see how his elbows are going down a little bit.
27:34I don't know if Priest recognizes that.
27:36See Priest just jump on him right away.
27:38More body shots, especially double up those shots.
27:42Aging fighters don't like body shots.
27:43Well, who does?
27:46Well, who does, yeah, but it takes away their legs a lot faster.
27:49Watch your head.
27:49Watch your head.
27:5010 seconds.
27:51See, you can see there's not that much power.
27:52The arm punches.
27:53Yeah, there are arm punches.
27:54The power's away from Arias.
27:57The strength is away from those punches thanks to those body shots.
28:01Priest closes round number seven strong.
28:13Virgin Hotels, where we're at.
28:15Used to be the Hard Rock.
28:17You got some memories here, don't you?
28:18I do.
28:19I mean, my last fight as a professional was right here.
28:22Hard Rock.
28:23And Eric Priest trying to show you something, Sergio Mora.
28:25Yes, he is.
28:26And look, man, a little short shot.
28:27That's a veteran move right there.
28:30He was able to use his left hand.
28:31He was able to use his left hand to paw off Arias to come with that right hand.
28:37The referee didn't give him a warning.
28:39That you can't do, but yet he gives Arias a warning for holding right there.
28:44You can't paw with your left hand and try to set up a punch and then have zero in with
28:49that right hand.
28:51So your last fight here against who, Margarito?
28:58No, it was Perro Angulo.
29:01Oh, Perro Angulo, my bad.
29:02In 2018, with Alfredo Angulo, that's when I knew it was done for me, though.
29:06Did you win?
29:07Yeah, I won.
29:08But you still were like, no, I'm done.
29:10I knew I was done.
29:11I was 38 years old, I believe, and I didn't have the legs anymore.
29:15Well, that's one of the three.
29:16Arias, who said, I run 10 miles with Brandon Moreno.
29:19I feel great in the conditioning.
29:21I've been pushing myself.
29:23But still, 34, a lot of wear.
29:25It looks like he's starting to slow down in round number eight.
29:29Yeah, but you know what?
29:30The older you get, you know, the running is not really what you should be doing.
29:35It's more, you know, quick twitch muscles, sprints, you know?
29:39You don't want to do just long distance running.
29:42That's actually working against you.
29:44Let's hear what the corner of Arias has to say.
29:46Here with the right hookup of Theo, the trainer for Arias, what do you see from him?
29:50What does he use with Josh?
29:50What I want him to do is to get inside and stay in the pocket using the laterals, you know?
29:56Using the uppercuts, using the body shots.
29:59Luis, in the pocket, in the adentro.
30:02Ahí, Mico, move la cintura, viene el jab.
30:03Gancho recta, Luis.
30:07Vamos, Mico, mide, mide, mide.
30:08And what about the point deduction from that second round?
30:11What do you think of that?
30:12I think it was too quick to be honest, but it's what it is.
30:15You know, we've got to stay focused, and we've got to keep the chair, make sure that he's good, that I think he's doing good, and we'll see, we'll see.
30:21You know, everything can change in a blink of the eye, and I hope it can make it for his family.
30:25And what's the message to him going to be in this next round?
30:28I want him to stay in the inside, in the inside pocket, touching and breaking his body, looking for the hook.
30:34Thank you, Jorge.
30:39Arias looking for that check left hook, but Priest is being responsible, keeping that right hand up.
30:45You can see that Arias can't compete with the youth and the punches with Priest, but he's trying to set up Priest in between the shots.
30:54That's what veterans do when they can't compete with the youth anymore.
30:57They're just trying to time you into one shot.
30:59And it's Priest who's slipping punches, ducking punches.
31:03He's not falling for any of that.
31:04No, he's not.
31:05That's what I mean, responsible.
31:06Because right now, you can see Arias is a winded fighter.
31:09The power's not behind those punches anymore.
31:11Now he's just looking for one shot, that Lupin shot.
31:15He doesn't have that one punch knockout power, does he?
31:18No, he doesn't.
31:19He's never had that, but he's a strong puncher.
31:23But, no, I just think he's dealing with someone really sharp today.
31:26And I don't see Priest making any kind of mistakes.
31:29Nope.
31:29He's bare.
31:30And he's sharp tonight, man.
31:32And he's locked in.
31:33I would like to see more body shots by Priest, but other than that, man, he's looking great.
31:41And what a feather in his cap if he can be the second man to stop a tough guy like Luis Arias.
31:48Yeah, Erickson Lubin stopped him.
31:52And Lubin's a big puncher.
31:53Yeah.
31:53You know, so that would be a big statement by Priest if he could do that.
31:57But if he's going to do it, he's going to have to keep chopping him down and body shots.
32:07I think he got the deal getting into the corner.
32:10His son Brandon.
32:13You good?
32:15Breathe.
32:16Don't give up.
32:17Listen, when you back up is when they have success.
32:21I need you to get angles on it.
32:25I need you to touch him upstairs and rip him downstairs.
32:29You got to stay on top of him, man.
32:30When you get on the inside, wrestle him.
32:31Get rough.
32:32Get up.
32:32Get some water.
32:36Get some water.
32:37Get, señores.
32:38Gracias.
32:39Aguita, señores.
32:41Vamos, hijo.
32:43Oíste, Luis?
32:43Got the mouth, Luis.
32:44Matista.
32:45Come on, Luis.
32:47Vamos con esa niña, Luis.
32:49Two rounds.
32:49Two more rounds, come on.
32:51You got to give out everything.
32:52Show me your heart in this round.
32:53Vamos, Luis.
32:54Capetillo's going to the emotional part.
32:59There's some instructions there, but it's also digging into the hearts.
33:04Yeah, that's what you want from your corner, man.
33:06Yeah, I mean, you want that voice that you trust with the instructions, but you also want
33:12someone to motivate you with passion.
33:16Adios is running out of time.
33:17It's just Eric Priest looking so good here at our co-main.
33:22Yeah, this is, so far, the best I've seen Eric Priest.
33:26He's sharp, responsible, you know, throwing the right combinations, smart combinations.
33:33Yeah, in 2023, Priest had a fight with Hedikino, Simon Madsen, who's from Cancun, but he's
33:42from Norway, and they went back and forth.
33:45Priest, it was rugged, but he passed that test.
33:49And then the way he looks tonight, just completely different.
33:53The jabs from Priest, 214 thrown through eight rounds.
33:58Yeah, that's what I really liked in the beginning.
34:00You know, when he came out, he came out jabbing.
34:03That's a beautiful thing to see from a young kid with only 15 fights.
34:06You know, you pop him with that jab, use your full work.
34:08Make the older fighter feel every bit, he's 34 years old.
34:13You know, that's how you take the fight out of veterans.
34:15You know, you make them feel their age.
34:18You can see that Adios is falling off balance.
34:20He doesn't throw more than two shots anymore, because now it's costing him too much.
34:24It takes too much strength.
34:26This is when Priest, if he wants a knockout, this is when he goes chasing.
34:30Step back.
34:31You know, the crew at CompuBox, they're just sitting there looking at every jab that Priest was throwing.
34:37He has to stop throwing that jab.
34:40He's been very effective from the get-go.
34:46Your body shot there by Adios.
34:51Priest just looks like he's having fun.
34:52Oh, it will stop.
34:54Okay, pick it up, okay?
34:55Come on.
34:56Just pick it up, okay?
34:57All right?
34:57Pick it up.
34:58It wasn't even...
34:59Step back, step back, step back, step back.
35:01Yeah, things are going your way.
35:03And he went right back to it.
35:04And it was the exact same shot on the shorts.
35:08Yes.
35:09That's the fighter frustration of Sergio Mora.
35:12It is.
35:13It really is, ref.
35:13I mean, look.
35:14A referee has a very difficult job.
35:17Absolutely.
35:17But you also don't want to always be, you know, nagging a fighter.
35:21That's how he fights.
35:22He's a rugged fighter.
35:23He's going to test the boundaries.
35:25And Priest, to this credit, just keeps coming, controlling this fight, going toe-to-toe with
35:34Adios.
35:34Yeah, it's like he's looking for the...
35:36He's looking for the stoppage, you know.
35:38He wants to send that message.
35:39He wants to make a statement.
35:41Heading towards the 10th and final round of our co-feature, Eric Priest dominating in Las Vegas.
35:59Main event still to come.
36:05Here at Golden Boy Fight Night, DFG, Darius Fulgham.
36:12Undefeated.
36:13Big test for him tonight.
36:15Huge step up.
36:18He has 12 knockouts.
36:19He gets limited competition early on his career.
36:21He's been looking strong lately.
36:22And he takes on Beck, the bully, with Joel Diaz in his corner.
36:30And Akuvia, 15-1, 10 KOs, an Olympia for Uzbekistan, a silver medalist.
36:39Gave in under the 168-pound limit.
36:43He's looking great.
36:44His last fight was in this building where he didn't look as strong.
36:47What would he give us tonight?
36:49That's going to come, though.
36:50Main event.
36:51Golden Boy Fight Night.
36:52Well, here we go, ladies and gentlemen.
36:55This is the 10th and final round.
37:07Crowd letting it be known.
37:08We've been entertained by Luis Adias and Eric Priest, who's just dominating.
37:15Is Priest going to step on that gas?
37:17Is he going to put it in the final gear?
37:19He's going to have to.
37:20I mean, I expected him to do this.
37:21A little earlier, but I just think the legs, the sharpness of Eric Priest has been given
37:28the older veteran an opportunity to land something big.
37:31That's when you actually got to start just focusing on the body of the younger fighter.
37:35You know, you touch the body and be content with that.
37:42Don't load up for shots like that.
37:46You know, you break down.
37:48You break down younger fighters that are fresh on their feet, quicker with their hands.
37:52You know, you break them down to the body.
37:53You make mistakes.
37:54Get them to get overconfident.
37:56Then you leave the shots over the top.
37:57Middleweight division is very, very interesting.
38:06You're climbing your way of Eric Priest.
38:09I think he's done a good home with Julian Chua and the Brickhouse Boxing Crew.
38:12Oh, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.
38:13Let's do it.
38:14Okay?
38:15All right.
38:15Step back, step back.
38:16Boxing Crew.
38:19He's only 26 years old.
38:22There you go.
38:22That's what I wanted to see for Marias earlier, is ripping the body with the hooks like that.
38:27That's what's going to actually get the younger fighter to fall for an overhand right.
38:32But, gee, if you're not lining him up, if you're not setting up, if you're not setting that punch for the later rounds, like right there, that left hook, that would have been set up if he was throwing left hands downstairs.
38:41Too little, too late?
38:42Too little, too late.
38:43Yeah, because now Priest already got the range down.
38:46He got the speed down.
38:47He got the timing down.
38:48So he's not going to fall for it now.
38:50As the fight progressed, it just Priest got stronger and looked like he got also really smarter.
38:55Yes, sir.
38:55Watch it.
38:56Watch it.
38:56Be more comfortable.
38:58Yeah.
38:59You know, and that's what you want to do with youth.
39:01You know, whenever you're fighting a younger fighter, you want to make, you want to start fast against them because you're the veteran.
39:07You don't want to let them get, you know, comfortable in there.
39:11Make them feel your, impose your will, impose your experience.
39:1545.
39:1645, Eric.
39:17But it was Eric Priest who imposed his will.
39:19And Arias never got comfortable.
39:21Oh, there's that right hand.
39:22That rocks Priest momentarily.
39:25A hook from Arias.
39:26who's just kind of empty the kitchen seat he's just going upstairs and why is priest doing this
39:31and this is what i needed to see from who's ideas earlier but priest is staying on the inside not
39:37moving his head letting out his land that overhead right and still coming forward but why even play
39:44with fire if you're controlling this fight because he has no respect for him he has no he's asking
39:48eric priest asked for it he got it final seconds about coming a good one and it did all eric priest

41:19right on top of the head that's what audience is looking for the entire fight and those body shots
41:24still trying to loop over the top and what does eric priest do get on his front foot and want more
