Bristol Rovers assistant head coach Rhys Carr was happy to maintain the Gassers' momentum
00:05
during their pre-season campaign so far as they won 2-1 against Yeovil.
00:12
We're pleased, number one, because we want to win games of football.
00:15
Whether it's a friendly, whether it's every single game we compete in, we want to win.
00:19
There's certain areas that we want to improve as well, but we'll take away the positives.
00:24
But every game we play, the staff will come together, we'll review it, we'll debrief it with the players,
00:28
we'll keep nipping away and trying to make little areas better so that it all comes together in the next game too.
00:34
Now one of the certain positives was Kofi Shaw, goal and assist him today.
00:38
What sort of impact do you think he can have?
00:40
Yeah, he did great, didn't he? He's very energetic, he can cover the ground for us.
00:44
He's an attack-minded midfielder and ultimately they get judged on goals and assists as well
00:48
and he's come up with both today.
00:50
I think until he stuck that one in the top corner with his left foot,
00:53
we're probably all thinking perhaps you should slide this one to the runner,
00:56
but he's got that quality and stick it into the top corner and then have the assist as well.
01:01
Yeah, good performance from him.
01:02
Oli made a real big impact in Spain.
01:04
We don't want to put too much pressure on the young players,
01:06
but how good is it to see that they can make an impact in games like these?
01:09
It's brilliant, you know, and they're getting opportunities
01:11
and when they get opportunities it's important that they take them.
01:14
Our newly appointed Bristol City Assistant Head Coach Craig Fleming
01:18
has said that he is excited to join the club.
01:21
Yeah, great, very excited.
01:22
Yeah, it's been a bit of a whirlwind, but yeah, thoroughly excited.
01:25
Can't wait to get going.
01:26
You mentioned a bit of a whirlwind,
01:28
but you've been involved in some sessions out with the lads.
01:30
How's that been?
01:31
Yeah, really enjoyed it.
01:33
Yeah, I mean, I'd heard nothing but good things about the boys as it was,
01:36
but when you get out there you can see what a good bunch they are,
01:38
what good quality they've got and what a great place it is to work.
01:41
And talk to us briefly about your connection with Gerhard
01:44
and how you've come to be here.
01:46
Yeah, I think Gerhard was looking for an assistant.
01:49
I think my old guy was Ralph Hassenhutl.
01:54
They both came from the Red Bull stable, both Austrian.
01:56
And I think my name cropped up in conversation
01:58
and I came to meet Gerhard, we hit it off
02:00
and the rest is history.
02:02
And your last role was in Wolfsburg with Ralph.
02:05
How was that experience?
02:06
Yeah, really good.
02:06
Really enjoyed it.
02:07
There's not many English guys get the opportunity to work abroad.
02:10
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
02:10
I think it's a great country, great league.
02:12
Yeah, it was good, but good to get back home.
