00:00A few tears before, are they different tears of the peers you had back in May?
00:03They're a bit less ugly than they were in May.
00:06You know, I am so proud to be part of this team
00:09and it's been fantastic the last six weeks to get out right across our electorate
00:15and to talk to Tasmanians about the issues that are important to them.
00:20It's the very thing that has driven me forward for 15 years, you know, in public life.
00:26It is such a privilege to be able to serve the people of Bass
00:30and to be able to have the opportunity to continue to do that.
00:34It's the greatest privilege of my life.
00:35It's impossible to say that everything's perfect at the moment in the state.
00:38Economic management is also a concern.
00:41That'll be a focus for you, no doubt, as well?
00:43Of course it is a focus going forward,
00:45but I think it is also incumbent to look at how far that we have come.
00:49How far Tasmania has come in the last 10 years.
00:53And I go back to when I joined the Liberal Party,
00:56which was in the wake of the last Labor-Greens government
00:59and the destruction that was wreaked across northern Tasmania
01:02and communities like Georgetown, where I live, and across the northeast.
01:06Some of those communities that have only been recovering, you know,
01:08in the last few years from that.
01:11This government, over 10 years, has done so much in Tasmania,
01:17has brought so much progress to Tasmania,
01:20and we shouldn't lose sight of that.
01:22It's easy to lose sight of that.
01:24Of course there is more to be done.
01:26There is always more to be done,
01:28and we must dig in and, with resolve, move forward.
01:31But we shouldn't lose sight of where we have come from
01:33and the progress that has been made to date.
01:37And it's important to build on that
01:38and to continue to keep that momentum going
01:40and to keep moving forward.
01:42Thank you, of course, to the people who voted for me,
01:45but also thank you to the people who might not have voted for me
01:50and I give you my undertaking
01:52that I will do my very best to represent you
01:55whether you have voted for me or not.
01:58That has been my promise since the very first time I was ever elected
02:02and that is my promise to people going forward
02:05that I will continue to try and do everything I can
02:07to be a genuine and authentic representative for you
02:10to put the best interests of Tasmanians first.
