00:00In Panama, the National Union of Construction Workers and Similar Industries rejected the lawsuit filed by the Panamanian Minister of Labor and Workforce Development to dissolve the trade union.
00:22Brazil's Supreme Court applied new sanctions against former President Jair Bolsonaro amid its ongoing coup plot.
00:37And after the failure of a ceasefire, new clashes had been reported in the Syrian's wider city, leading to 600 deaths, while the de facto government forces were preparing a deployment in the area.
00:52Hello and welcome to From the South. My name is Belen de los Santos. I'm from the Teleso Studios in Havana, Cuba. We'll begin with the news.
01:02And we begin the information in Panama as the National Union of Construction Workers and Similar Industries on Trucks rejected the lawsuit filed by the Panamanian Minister of Labor and Workforce Development, Jacqueline Munoz, to dissolve the trade union.
01:28The minister accused Suntrax of alleged irregularities against workers' sake.
01:34In this regard, the lawyer of the union, Antonio Vargas, said to Teleso that Suntrax had not managed to access the complaint.
01:41However, the attorney stressed that the suit must go through a due process in the judicial body.
01:46And in all, Suntrax has been a victim of political persecution by the Molino administration due to the leadership of the union in the rallies against the law 462 of the Social Security Fund.
02:00We are going to defend our trade union. It is not as easy as she said that the union be dissolved.
02:14And she thinks that this can be solved by the blink of an eye.
02:18She knows that for this dissolution to happen, a very long process has to take place.
02:23And workers are going to fight because the construction workers who daily make their efforts at the projects,
02:29they are aware that the union has historically defended them.
02:33It has represented them before the employer's abuses.
02:36And these abuses often occur in complicity with the officials of the Ministry of Labour.
02:41This is a great truth, and the minister does not recognize it.
02:44And from Panama, we go to Argentina as workers from the Garahan Children's Hospital mobilized on Thursday to protest against the working conditions
02:58to which they are subjected by the government of Javier Millay, as well as for a salary increase.
03:04In view of the impossibility of the government of Millay, to provide them with guarantees when the conflict started months ago,
03:11the collective marches from the Congress of the Nation to Plaza de Mayo,
03:17and were accompanied by several trade unions, social and feminist organizations, among others.
03:23In fact, over 90 organizations joined the march in defense of the Garahan Hospital.
03:28For her part, the General Secretary of the Association of Professionals and Technicians, Norma Lezana,
03:35said that the hospital belongs to the children and that Garahan is not to be touched.
03:40What I'm seeing in the economic impact affecting our impacts, starting with the cuts to the retirees' health care coverage.
03:54We are seeing more and more patients coming to the hospitals because they can't get their medication or access care at the health centers run by their insurance.
04:03People are falling through the cracks in the health care system and arriving in much worse health conditions
04:08because, unfortunately, they wait until the last moment to seek help, overcrowded emergency rooms, exhausted co-workers and overwhelmed facilities.
04:17That's what I'm seeing right now in our hospitals.
04:18There's been a sharp increase in the number of patients we are seeing.
04:25People who used to be able to afford private insurance or health care coverage and get treatment elsewhere.
04:32That's leading to an overcrowding in our N2 with overloaded schedules and so on.
04:38And then there's the issues of not being able to maintain chronic treatments.
04:42For example, someone with high blood pressure or diabetes can't keep up with their treatment because they can't afford their medications.
04:49That's the reality.
04:52Chilean social movements rallied for demanding the transfer to a hospital of prisoner Mauricio Hernández Narambuena,
04:58known as Commander Ramiro, after having registered several health serious problems in past weeks.
05:05The protest was held in front of the Santiago prison to denounce that the commander was being tortured and deprived of medical attention in the penitentiary center.
05:15It is important to highlight that 67-year-old Mauricio Hernández Narambuena has been serving a 26-year sentence since 2019,
05:26who was convicted for participating in the assassination attempt against dictator Augusto Pinochet in 1986, among other allegations.
05:35It has been difficult this last month.
05:46It has not been easy.
05:48He still doesn't have a diagnosis after a month and a diagnosis that interests us.
05:54Basically, he has spent 20 years in prison.
05:58He was in Brazil under torture.
06:02He has been tortured all his life.
06:05He has spent more of his lifetime in prison.
06:10Today the government
06:11to a specialist hospital.
06:20The government just sent him to a low-quality hospital
06:23in which he cannot be diagnosed properly
06:28and that's a basic human right any human being must have.
06:35This is a by-product of the false democracy Chile is living through right now.
06:41THRE is no good and evil.
06:44We only see evil in our reality.
06:47That is what prevails in this country, the capitalist system.
06:51And Ramiro's case is the best example of this society
06:53due to the far-right entrepreneurs will never release Ramiro.
06:56But we still want to fight.
06:58That is why we want to get him because we believe in him
07:01because we owe him the dignity Chileans accomplish at some point.
07:06We owe him and other comrades this country
07:07and we think it is urgent today
07:09that Ramiro be taken to a hospital to save his life.
07:12Now we have a short break coming up

07:52amid the ongoing coup plot case.
07:55The federal police carried out a search operation
07:57against Bolsonaro in the city of Brasilia
08:01which was authorized by the federal court.
08:03The authorities found the former president
08:05at his home in Jardim Botanico neighborhood
08:08where he was ordered to wear an electric ankle monitor
08:12due to a potential risk of escape.
08:15In addition, the police prohibited him
08:17from using social networks,
08:19communicating with ambassadors and foreign diplomats
08:22while he remained under investigation
08:23for the by the Supreme Court.
08:32And Brazilian President Luis Ignacio Lula da Silva
08:35reiterated his rejection
08:37of U.S. President Donald Trump's interference
08:39following his threats
08:41to increase tariffs on Brazilian products
08:43by up to 50% as of August 1st.
08:47The Brazilian head of state assured
08:48that his country in response
08:50to the Trump administration's threats
08:51would impose taxes on U.S. technology companies.
08:56In addition, President Lula criticized
08:57the letter published by his U.S. counterpart
08:59as the basis for the intended tariff increase,
09:03pointing out that it does not appeal to negotiation
09:06and that it links the tariff increase
09:08to the legal situation of former President Jair Bolsonaro,
09:11who is being tried for an attempted coup d'etat.
09:14Bolivian President Luis Arce warned on Thursday
09:23that if the opposition wins in the August 17th elections,
09:26it will privatize state-owned companies.
09:29The statement was issued during a public political rally
09:32in Tarija, in the south of the country,
09:34where the head of state stressed
09:36that the opposition's privatization
09:37would target strategic sectors
09:39such as hydrocarbons and telecommunications
09:42putting at risk the economic stability
09:45and national sovereignty achieved
09:46by his administration through state control.
09:50On the other hand,
09:50he called for the unity of all leftist forces
09:53to work for a prosperous future
09:55for Bolivia and its citizens.
09:57Less than a month away from the elections,
09:59the debate on the economic model
10:01has become one of the central issues of the campaign.
10:09And we're going now to Cuba
10:12as President Miguel DÃaz-Canel

10:16Ying Yong,
10:16as well as other prominent figures,
10:18including Cuban General Attorney
10:20Yamila Peña Ojeda
10:21and the Chinese Ambassador Hua Ying
10:23at the Havana Convention Center on Thursday.
10:26In this context,
10:27the Cuban head of state appreciated
10:29the crucial emergency aid
10:30that China had sent to the Caribbean nation.
10:34Likewise, the president praised
10:35the joint work of both aforesaid prosecutors
10:39to defend the rule of law.
10:42Meanwhile,
10:42the also-secretary of the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office,
10:46Ying Yong,
10:47attached importance
10:48to not only meeting up
10:50with the representatives
10:50of the Cuban justice entities,
10:53but also to the good relations
10:55between both countries.
10:56In this case,
11:06his visit stresses the importance
11:08of our prosecutors' relation.
11:10Therefore,
11:10this meeting is also a continuity
11:12of the moments we are living,
11:14marked by the excellent relation
11:15between the People's Republic of China
11:18and Cuba,

11:29that has overcome difficulties,
11:31so that today
11:32our bilateral relation is excellent.
11:34In Colombia,

13:49Welcome back to
14:06From the South.
14:07We continue
14:08with more information
14:09after the ceasefire failure,
14:11new clashes bursted out
14:12in the Syrians'
14:13wider city,
14:14bringing about 600 deaths
14:16while the de facto
14:17government forces
14:18were preparing a deployment
14:19in the area.
14:21Armed groups
14:21of various ethnicities
14:22confronted the government forces
14:24using both medium weapons
14:27and rocket launchers
14:28in the nearby
14:29Almazara,
14:30Canaker and Calcala towns.
14:33So far,
14:33sources estimated
14:34there was no coordinated
14:36official response
14:37to this conflict
14:38and as a result,
14:39the civilian population
14:40is taking shelter
14:41for fear of being a victim
14:43due to the generated violence.
14:48In this context,
14:53Syria's de facto
14:54head of government
14:55Ahmad al-Sahra
14:56allegedly left
14:58the capital Damascus
14:59accompanied by his family
15:00amid rapid changes
15:02in the country's security.
15:04Almazarin sources
15:05reported the supposed
15:06assassination
15:07of three prominent figures
15:08in the Syrian
15:09Transitional Administration,
15:11including Defense Minister
15:12Marahaf Abu-Kasra,
15:14amid a tense security climate
15:15and ambiguity
15:17surrounding the political scene.
15:19They also reported
15:20that a military unit
15:21entered the capital's
15:22radio and television building
15:24where it directly supervised
15:26media operations
15:27in an action
15:28described as surprising.
15:31These events coincide
15:32with ongoing tensions
15:33in southern Syria
15:34where the skies
15:36over Aswadad province
15:38have witnessed
15:39intense attacks
15:40by Israeli warplanes
15:42along with a number
15:43of drones and aircraft.
15:45The Aswadad governorate
15:55has experienced
15:56an increase in tension
15:57on the ground
15:58with violent clashes
15:59between Druze military factions
16:01and tribal factions
16:02in villages
16:03and towns
16:04in rural western area.
16:07In this new escalation,
16:08the Dara tribes
16:09declared a general mobilization
16:10in support of their members
16:12and to confront
16:13the Druze factions,
16:14a move that threatens
16:15to widen the scope
16:16of the fighting
16:17in southern Syria.
16:19Tensions have spread
16:20across the university
16:21campuses of Aleppo
16:24as well.
16:25further detailed that criminal
16:42Israeli bombings
16:43had targeted tents
16:44located in Amawasi,
16:48causing a large fire
16:49and killing some five cousins,
16:51including babies.
16:52In addition,
16:53health authorities
16:54estimated that
16:55thousands of victims
16:56were still trapped
16:57in the rubble
16:58in areas inaccessible
17:00to emergency
17:00and civil defense teams
17:02due to the recurrent
17:03Zionist aggressions.
17:05Overall,
17:05the offensive
17:05of the Netanyahu regime
17:07continued,
17:08despite calls
17:09for a ceasefire
17:10by the international community,
17:12who is urging
17:13to take resounding measures
17:14to stop the genocide
17:16and defuse
17:17the humanitarian crisis
17:19in the enclave.
17:20also in Palestine,

17:31are suffering amputations
17:33as a result of attacks
17:34by the Israeli regime
17:36in the Gaza Strip
17:36amid its genocidal escalation
17:39against the Palestinian people.
17:41The United Nations
17:41warned that
17:42between 4,000 and 5,000 children
17:45in the Gaza Strip
17:46lost limbs
17:47since the beginning
17:48of the Israeli offensive.
17:50They also warned
17:51that around 10 children
17:52suffer amputations
17:53every day,
17:54many of them
17:55without access
17:56to anesthesia
17:56or adequate medical treatment
17:59due to the humanitarian crisis
18:01in the region
18:02caused by the continuous attacks
18:04perpetrated by Israel.
18:06The Palestinian people
18:06face one of their worst
18:08health crises,
18:09while the international community
18:11remains inactive
18:13in the face
18:14of Israel's
18:15genocidal escalation.
18:17And the Comprehensive
18:24Strategic Partnership
18:25Treaty between Iran
18:27and Russia
18:27entered into force
18:29as declared
