00:00Not a commissioner yet, more commission to bring down the Batman.
00:03Here's your look at McFarlane Toys, DC Multiverse, Batman Year One, Gold Label Collection, Lieutenant James Gordon.
00:09Batman Year One
00:39I don't know if it's Carmine Falcone who's responsible for not getting us a Gordon, because it has been a while.
00:45We've gotten enough Batmans, and yet we haven't gotten a commish.
00:48And even though this really isn't Commissioner Gordon, it's still a Lieutenant Jim Gordon from, of course, the Year One of Batman.
00:53Let's take the tape measure now and see how tall the figure stands.
00:55Now, of course, we'll bring in a Batman for comparisons.
00:58Jim Gordon, Lieutenant or otherwise, is going to still stand at 7 inches in height,
01:02or the figure's going to work out to be about 18 centimeters tall.
01:05Well, thinking before that if they ever gave us Commissioner Gordon, they would just simply be boring over the body of Hush,
01:10not really seeing the sign, bad or otherwise, that the Page Puncher's Constantine was the better choice.
01:15In fact, outside of just changing up the head sculpt from head to toe or neck to toe,
01:20he's using pretty much Constantine's body.
01:22That still also goes for his hands.
01:24The only thing they actually have retooled differently was Constantine had a little rip right above his knee.
01:29Commissioner Gordon never goes to work with ripped knees,
01:32so they would have had to re-sculpt a brand new leg piece.
01:35Other than that, though, it's still the same Constantine body, just with a brand new head sculpt.
01:39Because, of course, this isn't yet Commissioner Gordon and we're still sticking with lieutenants,
01:43this is also the Year One time of Batman, so we're going to bring in that Batman right now.
01:47Now, we've already had a look at the Year One Batman.
01:49Nice-looking figure.
01:51The only thing still that's become ever more apparent,
01:53when you look at Hush, even though it's not the body,
01:55and you look at Commissioner Gordon that was originally Constantine,
01:58and now you look at Batman, it even becomes more apparent how Batman's limbs are a little too short,
02:03that being his arms.
02:04Speaking of arms, Lieutenant Gordon does in fact come include with a firearm,
02:07which is really strange.
02:09We're going to talk about that more in a moment.
02:10First, though, that isn't so strange.
02:12The figure does come include with the display stand.
02:14Let's just turn the steering wheel around.
02:15It's got the DC logo branded down below.
02:18Don't really need the sound effect for that.
02:19It's the same, in fact, DC logo that we've already gotten countless times already,
02:23so nothing changes at all.
02:24These are next to impossible to stack on top of one another.
02:27Have you ever tried to balance how many of these display stands you think you can balance on top of one another?
02:32I get to about four, and then the whole thing just topples over.
02:35But you get yourself a display stand.
02:36There's nothing really wrong with that at all.
02:38There's nothing wrong at all, either, that we get ourselves a year one version of Lieutenant Jim Gordon.
02:42This is the Jim Gordon trading card.
02:45I can't seem to be holding on to it right now.
02:46This is the year one Batman card.
02:48So I do like that they have an old classic look to them.
02:51The back of the card, though, is also sticking to the classic idea that he's still a lieutenant,
02:55as his real name is Lieutenant Jim James.
02:58Jim Gordon.
02:59There's a very small, easy-to-digest paragraph.
03:02You can so easily read that yourself.
03:04I've already taken the liberty of reading it for you.
03:06Let's put these cards off to the side.
03:08Yeah, so the figure does come included with a firearm.
03:09When was the last time that you can count that we had ourselves a gun of anything to come included with a figure?
03:15I guess because now he's just part of the police,
03:17we can excuse the fact that a figure now finally comes included with a gun.
03:21The gun itself, I think, has been used before.
03:24I'm trying to actually think of the figure that probably would have maybe used this.
03:27But still, though, we get ourselves a firearm, a peacemaker of some sort.
03:30Maybe that's a magnum.
03:31I guess that would be more of a magnum.
03:33That's a little excessive, I feel, for a firearm.
03:35Not that I'm part of the police force.
03:38The thing, unfortunately, about that, though, is while I do like the look of the gun,
03:41there doesn't seem to be an easy way to fit this into his hands.
03:44From what at least I can see, he's using essentially the Constantine body from right around here to right around here.
03:51He also seems to be using the exact same hands.
03:53So while these hands may look on paper like they have a trigger-firing finger,
03:58I find like the gun is not impossible, but very difficult to get in there.
04:03It's almost really like the hands don't belong to this gun.
04:06And that's probably the case.
04:08Yeah, you can get the gun in his hand,
04:10but you can clearly see, though, as you're doing it,
04:14the hand is never really to be designed to hold this gun.
04:16It's almost like the grip is completely designed differently.
04:19I can get it in there, but, I mean, I can't get it to the point where it holds it comfortably,
04:24where it holds it like it feels like it belongs there.
04:26This gun needs to feel like it belongs there, and it just doesn't.
04:30Now, you can also try on the other side of the hand as well,
04:33but the only problem with this, too, if you look at the fingers, they're too close to the palm.
04:37You can't really pry them away from one another.
04:39So you're really only really relegated to having the gun on this side.
04:43I have dropped since the gun.
04:45It's on the floor.
04:46I can see it right now.
04:46We're going to come back to that more in a moment.
04:48Getting, though, a closer look at Lieutenant Gordon.
04:50What a nice-looking head sculpt.
04:52It does really beg the question of why we've waited so long to get a Commissioner Gordon
04:55or a Jim Gordon, for that matter.
04:57I mean, we haven't gotten one from, like, the Nolan trilogy.
05:00We never got one of that.
05:01We haven't even gotten a classic Gordon.
05:03So this is pretty much the first time we've gotten it.
05:05If you don't think really outside of, like, the Batman animated series, Jim Gordon,
05:11which technically really McFarlane Toys did do a reissue of, because initially it was done
05:15by DC Direct.
05:16But this is really, like, the first true DC multiverse version of Jim Gordon.
05:21I actually really think that it's a nice-looking head sculpt.
05:23The mustache, the glasses, are all things that you would check off if you want to really
05:28have yourself a Gordon in your collection.
05:29I think the head sculpt looks really good.
05:31Now, the glasses do seem like they're something you'd be able to take off.
05:34Not knowing really how bad it would be once you take off the frames, I'm willing just to
05:39leave it in place.
05:40The glasses, unfortunately, do distort a bit of his eyes.
05:43You can still make out that they've painted the eyebrows above that.
05:45The eyebrows do seem like they're a little more on the reddish side, where the mustache
05:49is still well-painted, and at least it matches the coloring of his hair.
05:53Yeah, there's really no at all complaints I would give, really, to, I want to say Commissioner
05:56Gordon, Lieutenant Gordon.
05:58Nothing at all I really would have changed the head.
06:00The head, despite really using Constantine's body, proportionally, it does work rather well.
06:06The jacket, though, is only really attached here and here.
06:09So, even though it's loose and does seem like it would be a separate piece, don't try to
06:13pry the jacket off.
06:15I would imagine that you probably would cause paint damage here to the sides of his torso,
06:18and you don't want that.
06:20The tie, the jacket, even like the lower pants, all seem to still be borrowed over from Constantine.
06:26The only thing, as mentioned earlier, the only thing that Constantine would have had,
06:29he would have had a rip right here in his knee, or just right above his knee.
06:33Now, they would have had to, I guess, retool a brand new leg piece.
06:36I actually have the Page Puncher's Constantine.
06:38I never just really got around to reviewing it.
06:40If you guys would like to have me go back and re-review, or I guess go back and review the
06:44things I haven't reviewed before, like that Constantine, I also got the Page Puncher's
06:48Black Adam.
06:49I still haven't yet to review either one of those.
06:51But yeah, like the body seems to be exactly the same.
06:54The jacket also is the same.
06:55Constantine would have had this jacket all more in a mustard yellow.
06:59Commissioner Gordon prefers to have his jackets more in brown.
07:01The shirt is a little more of the bluer side.
07:04Constantine would have had that shirt in white.
07:05And the pants would have been more of a dark gray.
07:07Okay, Commissioner likes his lights.
07:09Because of that, the figure is going to have all the same retained articulation, starting
07:13first with his head sculpt.
07:14Head's going to be on a ball joint.
07:16It does, in theory, in theory, rotate all the way around.
07:20It gets a little tight for obvious reasons.
07:22First of all, the human head would not really...
07:24Human head should never be turned that far, because that would just kill the person.
07:27But also, too, because it's going to be rubbing against the back of the plastic.
07:30He's got a high collar, after all.
07:32You're going to have a harder time.
07:33Head does move up and down, though.
07:34You can also move it back and forth.
07:36No issues there.
07:37You can take the arms and rotate them all the way around.
07:39This body, despite being a little bit older, still pulls off a 90-degree angle bend.
07:44Or T-pose.
07:45Capital T.
07:46The figure does have a swivel in his bicep.
07:49It does also possess, as well, a double hinge on his elbow.
07:51And the hands rotate all the way around.
07:53The upper torso, just watch, though, the tie, because the tie is a separate piece, is on
07:57a ball joint.
07:58So, if you kind of hold on to everything, it does move on its own.
08:01It does have a good bit of motion, despite being so self-contained inside the jacket.
08:06The lower abdomen area also has some good mobility going for it, as well.
08:10The legs split out.
08:11As you're doing that, you probably can also hear.
08:13Let's not get so close to the man's crotch.
08:15You can also hear that it's got a nice ratcheted joint.
08:19Stop that.
08:20Legs go forward.
08:21They do.
08:21They go also back, as well.
08:22There's a swivel at the top of the thigh.
08:24Commissioner.
08:25Lieutenant.
08:25I did that again.
08:26Lieutenant Gordon does have a double hinge on his knees.
08:29They are a little on the tight side.
08:31But he does have ankle pivot, ankle rocker, and toe articulation, as well.
08:35I want to really stop what I'm doing before I kind of start with a new train of thought.
08:39One thing I did also want to mention, as well, is he also is using still the same feet as
08:44Constantine.
08:45I did notice, though, on this foot, it's really loose.
08:48I've only really had to figure out the packaging for maybe about 45 minutes.
08:51Yeah, there's an in-between take from the time that opened up the packaging to the time we
08:54kind of start talking about it, just so that I can look at the figure, so I can kind of
08:58get the full lay of the land of what exactly is going on.
09:01And in that time, I have noticed Commissioner Gordon's one ankle is loose.
09:05Very, very loose.
09:06And it really shouldn't be the case.
09:08Despite that, though, and despite the gun that I got to go pick up off the floor before
09:11we jumped to the rotisserie, I like the look of this Commissioner Gordon.
09:15Really, again, I was surprised that when we had the Constantine come out, the logical
09:20thing would have been the fact that they would have just used that body again and given us
09:24a Commissioner Gordon.
09:25Now, again, it's not Commissioner.
09:26It is Lieutenant, because it's the first year of Batman.
09:29But using the Constantine body is a perfect, suitable choice.
09:33This body, I think, could also be used as well for maybe like a Bruce Wayne.
09:36I don't know if it's a little bit too simplified that they maybe could even, well, it probably
09:41I think is a different jacket than a Ben Affleck trench coat that he wears, but I'm sure
09:45there's probably mileage that can also be made from this mold.
09:47The fact that we finally, though, have ourselves a Gordon, Lieutenant, or otherwise, to finally
09:51be displayed with short arms, year one Batman, or for that matter, you can also display with
09:56any other Batman.
09:57Nothing is necessarily telling you that it has to be confined to year one.
10:01If you like, for example, the Nightfall Batman, which always seems to be the go-to for me,
10:05easily, this is a Gordon that could easily be upgraded, could get himself in a promotion,
10:11and then could be displayed with any Batman that you have currently on your shelf.
10:15Jim right now is thinking, I wonder where I left my gun.
10:18I know exactly where you left your gun.
10:19It's still on the floor.
10:20I chose not to put the gun in your hand, first of all, because you're using the Constantine
10:23mold.
10:24These hands were never really designed to hold guns anyways, and when you try to do
10:28that, you're going to notice that the hands and fingers specifically aren't placed the
10:31right way to fit around the handle.
10:33On top of that, too, Kamish can also solve his problems without using guns.
10:37He can also use his brain.
10:38And his brain isn't just thinking, I wonder where my gun is.
10:40His brain's also wondering, I wonder where that vigilante Batman is.
10:43Well, we've already had a look at short arms Batman.
10:46Even though he does have short arms, I like the look of both year one Batman and year
10:51one Lieutenant Gordon.
10:52I want to say Commissioner Gordon.
10:53We're not yet in the status of Commissioner.
10:56I wonder, though, now looking at Lieutenant Gordon, if we are, in fact, going to get a
11:00Commissioner Gordon before, of course, the license runs out for what McFarlane is going
11:04to be doing for DC.
11:05I do hope that we get ourselves another version of Commissioner Gordon.
11:08Um, if we don't, though, I mean, certainly as a serviceable stand-in, a Gordon any other
11:14way, whether he's ranked or not as a Commissioner, this is still a great looking figure to be
11:18displayed, whatever, like whatever ranking you want to actually give him.
11:22What do you guys think of Lieutenant Gordon?
11:24Let me know down below in the comments section.
11:26Being that this is really the only Gordon that we actually have in our collection from
11:30the DC, I don't think it's that bad of a figure at all.
11:33But do you agree with that?
11:34Let me know what you guys think of the figure down below in the comments section.
11:37Now, I did actually go looking.
11:39I didn't have to use a bat symbol to do that.
11:41I ended up finding this one actually on the Facebook selling group.
11:44Popeye the Toy Man had a listing for Commissioner Gordon, Lieutenant Gordon.
11:48I did it again.
11:48I picked up this one at the same time I picked up the year one Batman.
11:52Kind of worked out well that I actually got two figures from the exact same time period.
11:56But if you guys are interested and would like to check out what Popeye the Toy Man is
11:58currently listing on his site, you can click the link down below in the video description.
12:03If you guys, in the meantime, did enjoy this video, you can do it a solid throw to like.
12:06You guys want to stick around for more?
12:07So, yeah, I hope so.
12:09We're wrapping up things right now with not yet Commissioner Gordon, even though I've
12:13flubbed it a couple of times and called him that.
12:15But there are going to be more DC Multiverse reviews coming your way.
12:18As always, thanks for watching.
12:19See you guys next time.
