00:00So the Dallas Cowboys are already dealing with a major headache going into training camp and today
00:06we're trying to answer will it be fixed or not? Hey what's up everyone it's Mauricio Rodriguez here
00:14at ADZ Sports Dallas. Today we're talking what is perhaps one of the two biggest headaches for the
00:21Cowboys front office one week away from training camp. We obviously know about the Micah Parsons
00:27contract negotiations they're dealing with all of that but in a way that will take care of itself
00:32you already have some numbers and there's really everything that they can do is under their control
00:37right they can negotiate a deal they can pick up the phone called Micah's agent which they haven't
00:42done or at least the last we heard is they hadn't done that but they can fix all of that that is no
00:47problem but there's some other contractual drama that they're dealing with and we've talked a little
00:51bit about this on the channel and that is Donovan Ezeraku. The second round rookie has not signed
00:57his contract and he could very well be a holdout for the Cowboys training camp but the thing about
01:04the Ezeraku contract is that this isn't a problem that is exclusive for the Cowboys and Ezeraku. This
01:11is something that is happening NFL wide and for those of you who have missed the updates who have missed
01:16the news I'll catch you up here very quickly and then we'll get into whether or not these will be
01:21fixed in time. As of right now 30 of the 32 picks made in the second round have not signed their deals
01:28and the reason is the third third pick and the 34th pick and that is linebacker Carson Tresinger for
01:34the Browns and wide receiver Jaden Higgins for the Houston Texans they signed fully guaranteed deals
01:40so naturally every other second round rookie and more importantly their agents are thinking
01:46well why not us so everyone is kind of playing this little waiting game because no one wants to
01:53cave in and get their player a non-fully guaranteed deal but also teams absolutely want to stay away
02:00from the precedent of signing second round rookies to fully guaranteed contracts because it obviously
02:05would be something that billionaires wouldn't like because they're running a business at the end of
02:10date. Now a quick side note here if you're wondering why has this never happened before especially
02:16this late in the year the reason is there's Tyler Show from the New Orleans Saints who is expected to
02:23start at a quarterback he has leverage because he is the quarterback right he can be like I'm not
02:28going to sign unless the deal is guaranteed and according to a report from CVS that is the guy that
02:34everyone is waiting on if the Saints sign Tyler Show to a fully guaranteed deal then we might be in a
02:41spot where many players will get fully guaranteed deals as well but the biggest question and certainly
02:48the one that Cowboys fans care the most about is will Donovan as a Raku be reporting to training camp
02:55or not I don't know if he will be there but just won't participate if he will be there at all or if he will
03:02not care and practice without a contract but here's the thing as a Raku is also under pressure as well
03:09as many other of these second round rookies because he needs to be at training camp he needs the reps in
03:16the sense of sure he will be in the 53 man roster but Donovan as a Raku is somebody who was brought in
03:22to start or to have a chance to start early on his calling card is that he has refined technique that he can
03:30be a day one contributor it's not like he is a project that will take a year or two to develop
03:37before he becomes a starter Donovan as a Raku is going to get to Oxnard California and right away
03:43he's going to be battling the likes of Marshawn Nealand, Sam Williams, Dante Fowler Jr. to be the
03:49other starter at defensive end besides Micah Parsons in other words Donovan as a Raku and many of these
03:56players will be pressuring their agents as much as the agents are pressuring them to be patient
04:01these are rookies at the end of the day they want to get on the playing field they want to compete for
04:07roles so if I had to make an educated guess I do think NFL teams are going to win this one out
04:14especially because if you look at it realistically I mean the teams can kind of get over not having a
04:20second round rookie at their own training camp I would argue in this sense they do have much more
04:26leverage than the players do so you might get messy at first but I think sooner rather than later
04:31Donovan as a Raku is going to show up he's going to sign his deal and I don't think he's going to
04:37skip much of a beat as the Cowboys training camp commences over in California next week let me know
04:43what you guys think in the comments and I'll make sure to read your thoughts
04:46you
