00:00Prost on pole, Senna alongside him, Turby and Freitze on row two.
00:04We go green in London and it's a lot of wheelspin for Bruno Senna.
00:07Looks as though Prost has got a good start.
00:09Senna tucks into second position, a lot of darting in the middle of the pack.
00:12Turby in third, Freitze doesn't get a good getaway.
00:14Daniel Aft is on the inside there as they come in towards the left-hander
00:18at turn three at Prince Albert, and it's Prost who holds the lead.
00:21And now Sam Bird trying to go around the outside as Jean-Eric Byrne
00:24is getting very tight in there.
00:26Both of the championship protagonists are through.
00:28In fact, everybody is through safely as they hurl their way now
00:31through the first sequence of chicanes.
00:33Absolutely nose to tail, but Prost got a good start.
00:36Senna managed to recover even though it looked like he got quite a bit of wheelspin, Dario.
00:40Yeah, the championship protagonists, they're in line of stern as they were.
00:43There's one position between them.
00:45But Sam Bird made a cracking move around the outside there.
00:48And then into turn three, got close up to his teammates,
00:50so then thought better of it.
00:51But I think he's made a couple of spots up here.
00:53He's got past Daniel Aft, crucially, in the Aft car.
00:56So that's not good news for their championship battle,
00:59as they now come out between the two lake chicanes.
01:01Now into the second left-right sequence that takes them into the long left-hander at Rosary Gate.
01:06And the two virgin cars almost hitting each other.
01:08So close to one another, but Jairus Byrne and Sam Bird just get away with it.
01:13Bit cheeky there, bit cheeky, but it's a very late defensive move on your teammate.
01:17Degrassi is tucked right up behind Nick Heidfeld.
01:19Are we going to see him attack coming down into the Millennium Chicane
01:22in front of the Millennium Sports Stadium on the left-hand side?
01:25Heidfeld defended there.
01:26Nice defending and, yeah, just taking it easy so far.
01:30So here they come down towards the final corner at Chelsea Gate.
01:33We're on board with Lucas Degrassi.
01:35You hear him lifting off a little bit early.
01:37That's because he's got to try and save energy.
01:39Look at the leaves.
01:40The problem is if these end up in the inlet, in the radiator inlet,
01:43it can skyrocket the temperature of either the motor or the battery.
01:47And the battery temperature is pretty critical in most of the races we go to.
01:51So this is a bit of a problem for the drivers, and more importantly for the teams.
01:55So end of lap one of 33.
01:57Cross, Senna, Turby frames, Verne, Bird at Heidfeld.
02:00Degrassi, Duval the top ten.
02:02Buemi down in 11th position.
02:04Degrassi is on Heidfeld's gearbox.
02:06He almost pushed him through turn three there.
02:08He's desperate to try and make up some positions if he can.
02:10Degrassi's dropped back a little bit, in fact, on the exit of Prince Albert.
02:13We go on board with Sebastian Buemi,
02:15the man who is one point behind Degrassi in the battle for the lead of the championship.
02:19He's 11th at the moment. Points go down to 10th position,
02:22and he's trying to get past that red Loic Duval dragon racing entry in front of him.
02:27Remember, these guys will have to make a pit stop at about half-distance,
02:30jump into their second car, and then carry on.
02:33If you want to get in touch, use the hashtag London E3
02:35as they hurtle their way down towards the second lake chicane now.
02:39Now, because they're all lifting and coasting,
02:41you'll see them, everybody comes down,
02:42and just before they do it, they glance in the mirror.
02:44How close is that car behind? Is he gonna make a lunge?
02:46And you've definitely seen some of that here.
02:49Business will pick up once they realize what, you know,
02:53how much energy they've got left for the rest of the race.
02:55And that on the tower on the left-hand side,
02:57that percentage is the amount of usable energy
02:59that the drivers have remaining in this car.
03:02So you obviously don't want to get to zero,
03:04because that means you're out of energy.
03:05You need to manage it until you come in and swap over into your second car.
03:09Look how close Degrassi is to the back of Heifel.
03:11Turn number one, though, not really an overtaking opportunity.
03:14Cross, Senna, Turbi, the top three. Degrassi pulls out.
03:17Is he gonna try and go past Heifel in the turn one?
03:20He's not, but he's just gonna show his nose to the German
03:23to make sure he knows he's there.
03:24We're on board with Degrassi.
03:25A mistake up in front.
03:26The two DS Virgins are gonna attack each other,
03:28and App hits one of the DS Virgin cars as well.
03:31So they're all starting to pull back in towards Degrassi.
03:34So that's Daniel App in the other yellow and red and green car.
03:38That's Degrassi's teammate.
03:39This is dangerous times for any of them,
03:41but especially the championship guys,
03:43because they're so close together.
03:45The car in front just lifts it so slightly.
03:47You damage that front wing.
03:48We've seen it in Berlin.
03:49You're gonna get a black flag.
03:50You're gonna have to come in and change that wing.
03:52That happens.
03:53Your race is effectively ruined,
03:54so you need discretion here.
03:56Oh, there's Boemi on the inside.
03:58Great move.
03:59Just perfect.
04:01Absolutely perfect.
04:02Doing what he needs to do.
04:03One at a time here.
04:04Sebastian Boemi then up in the tenth place.
04:06Just one position behind his championship rival,
04:09Lucas Degrassi.
04:10And Degrassi is gonna look in his mirrors
04:12and see that blue and yellow Renault car
04:14right up behind him.
04:16As we heard in the pre-race,
04:17these boys have got a lot of respect for each other,
04:19but it is war out there.
04:20They both want this championship badly.
04:22They're not here to play games.
04:23And is Degrassi gonna be close enough behind?
04:25But he goes for it.
04:26Into the Millennium Chicane,
04:27and he gets the job done.
04:28That's interesting.
04:29It was almost like as a reaction to Boemi,
04:31but I'll just keep one between us.
04:32Just keep one car between.
04:33Now watch how he closes the gap to the car in front.
04:36Watch as he closes up.
04:38Out of the final corner then comes Nico Cross,
04:41who continues to lead the race.
04:43He is 1.4 seconds clear of Bruno Center in second place.
04:46Oliver Turvey doing a great job in third position,
04:48but he is using more energy.
04:50Look, he's got 79% of usable energy remaining
04:52compared to the 82%, for example, of Nico Cross.
04:55And is that an attack from Boemi now up the inside,
04:58coming into Prince Albert?
04:59Yes, it is.
05:00And Boemi follows through.
05:01And he is now...
05:02Oh, a little bit of contact further back.
05:03But Degrassi now 8, Boemi now 9.
05:07But the next car ahead of Degrassi is his teammate, Daniel Lab.
05:10So that's gonna be easier for him to pass.
05:12And the next two cars ahead of Boemi
05:14are gonna make it bloody difficult.
05:16So it could be interesting here.
05:18Through the left-hander they come up at turn number 8.
05:20This is on board with Boemi
05:22coming out into the chicane
05:24and just later on the brakes.
05:26Yeah, just lifting coast a little bit.
05:28He caught him napping,
05:29and there you go, that's it.
05:30The lifting coast thing,
05:31and you've gotta carry that speed through the corner
05:33to make it work.
05:34And Boemi has done that well all season long.
05:39So this is on board with Degrassi.
05:41Look at him, just look at him set him up here.
05:43And then he's lifting a little bit.
05:45Just barely kissing the brake pedal,
05:47slowing it down for that chicane there in 14, 15 and 16.
05:51And that's the move.
05:52How long is it gonna be, though,
05:53before Daniel Abbe sort of lets him through?
05:56And he won't slow down to let him through,
05:58but he will not make it difficult
05:59for his teammate Lucas Degrassi.
06:01Race leader Nico Pross through the final corner
06:03at Chelsea Gate,
06:04and he is continuing to lead this race,
06:06but Senna is pretty much sticking with him.
06:08Pross first, Senna second.
06:10Welcome to 1993.
06:12Pross leads Senna.
06:14And we're on lap five of 33 now.
06:16Turvey's still in third, doing a good job.
06:18Freight's in fourth.
06:19Verne in fifth and sixth
06:21for his VS Virgin teammate Sam Bird.
06:23Then it's the Abbe Degrassi-Boemi fight,
06:25and there is Daniel Abbe trying to put pressure on Sam Bird.
06:30Fastest lap of the race goes to Sebastian Boemi,
06:32and you get two championship points
06:34for getting the fastest lap.
06:35So that isn't just an interesting little fact,
06:38a little keepsake.
06:39It's actually vital for the championship.
06:41Yeah, that is key.
06:43Getting that pole position today was so important
06:45because of those three points.
06:46We'll probably be talking about that tomorrow.
06:48If this stays as close as those fastest lap points
06:51will be key to what's gonna happen.
06:53And look how close Daniel Abbe is to Sam Bird.
06:56Sam Bird is being held up by Jean-Erik Verne.
06:58Jean-Erik's been very, very defensive there.
07:00None of those guys have signed up for next year, we think.
07:03So there's all to play for, and they got it.
07:07Well, there's the move.
07:08There's Degrassi going past Daniel Abbe.
07:10So neatly executed.
07:12Oh, lockup from Degrassi.
07:13Does he get it stopped?
07:14Yes, he does.
07:15I was wondering what was gonna happen
07:16on the other side of that shot there.
07:17But now Degrassi ahead of his teammate Daniel Abbe,
07:20and his championship rival is right up behind him,
07:22and Daniel Abbe now is going to drive
07:24the widest app-shaffler Audi Sport Formula E car
07:28you've ever seen in your life.
07:29Now, Wemi thought that Bruno Senna
07:31drove a wide car last year.
07:33Wait till he sees what he's gonna have to put up with here.
07:35Now, if he can hold him up,
07:36he might not be able to hold him up for the whole race,
07:38but if he can hold him up to allow Lucas Degrassi to get away,
07:42that's his job done.
07:43But, you know, if he can keep him behind all day,
07:45the more the better for the app team.
07:47Cross leads.
07:48Senna second, two seconds behind.
07:50Oliver Turby is third in that sort of black and blue.
07:54Next EV TCR car.
07:55Here's the look from Sebastian Buemi,
07:56but Daniel Abbe says, I'm having the inside line.
07:59If you want to get past, you're gonna have to do a better job than that.
08:02Now, what Buemi's doing, he's starting to sell in dummies.
08:04He's putting them out of position,
08:05and all these corners link into each other in a rhythm,
08:07and he's hoping to get them out of position
08:09so he can make that move.
08:10Probably his latest turn, I would say, 11 or 12.
08:13And equally, it's all about position, admittedly,
08:16but equally, if you can force down your laptop line,
08:18will he therefore be using more energy
08:20because he's not taking the most efficient line through the corners?
08:23Well, he can't really lift and coast too much, can he,
08:25when you see him down his neck?
08:27Well, absolutely, right.
08:28Any pressure he can put on will become a time in this race
08:31where he's got to sort of pay the bill for that,
08:33where Daniel Abbe has to pay that bill,
08:35but it doesn't matter.
08:36Honestly, it doesn't matter if he doesn't finish this race.
08:38He's just got to disrupt Sebastian Buemi as much as he possibly can.
08:42And Lucas de Grasse, meanwhile, has got to try
08:44and get past the two DS Virgin cars in front of him,
08:47but it's that car emblazoned with the Union flag on the rear
08:50that is going to be the first that he's got to try and get past.
08:54That is Sam Bird, the Londoner.
08:56And Nico Cross has done the fastest lap now,
08:58he's taken those points away from his team-mate at some point.
09:02If Buemi gets clear air, he's got to try and get that, absolutely.
09:06On board with Buemi.
09:08And I asked him how much risk he was willing to take today.
09:11He said, no, maybe not today, it's tomorrow,
09:13but this is that risky situation here.
09:16You know, this is when he has to sort of decide
09:19how much do I want this.
09:20And any move he makes, he has to make a move.
09:23You can't sort of, oh, I should make, oh, no, I won't make.
09:25You've got to be decisive with anything you do here.
09:27And that would seem Buemi to be decisive before.
09:29I've also seen him make some mistakes.
09:31Yeah, absolutely.
09:32Lap 7 of 33, Cross lead center, then Turby third,
09:35Robin Franks fourth for Andretti, then fifth and sixth,
09:38the two purple and silver DS Virgin cars.
09:41They fly through that second chicane.
09:43Phenomenal stuff.
09:44Watching those cars in a four-wheel drift through that chicane
09:48is absolutely brilliant, isn't it?
09:50So usable energy-wise, you can see Prost has 62%,
09:54Senna down to 60%, Turby down to 59%.
09:58So that next EV car struggling to keep up with the pace
10:01up at the front, which isn't surprising.
10:03They're really, Turby only started third
10:05because of the wet weather in qualifying
10:07that we had earlier on today.
10:08Look how close Buemi is.
10:10But he can't, you know, you can't risk a move around the outside
10:13or something, because Daniel Lapsell just sent you straight
10:15to the barriers.
10:17Here's a replay on board with Buemi.
10:19And, oh, he's turned off the rain light.
10:21Yeah, just a little kiss on the rain light from him.
10:23That shows how close they are.
10:25That's the great thing about Formula E,
10:27with the aerodynamics being very tightly controlled
10:29and everybody running the same stuff,
10:31it's not that, oh, I can't get within three car lengths.
10:33You can sit on the person's gearbox, you lose the front wing,
10:35it's a peak and massive amount of difference.
10:37We've seen the rear wings have the same effect sometimes,
10:39so that makes good, good racing.
10:42Look how close Degrassi is to the back of Sam Bird
10:44as they come down towards Turn 1,
10:46really tucked close behind the gearbox of that DS Virgin car
10:51through the left-hander of Turn 1.
10:53Is he going to be close enough to make a move?
10:54Bird goes defensive. Degrassi looks to the outside,
10:56but he can't afford to take any risks.
10:59On board we go with the Brazilian,
11:01the championship leader leading the standings by just one point.
11:05Bouncing over the kerbs now.
11:07And he knew there was nothing being done there.
11:09There's nothing into eight.
11:10He's got to set up a pass for 11.
11:12That's where he's got to try and do it in three corners' time.
11:14Here we go through Turn 8.
11:15That's where that move's got to happen, I would say.
11:17Robin Freintz is now starting to become a bit of a moving roadblock
11:21in fourth position, allowing the drivers in front to pull away
11:24and the drivers behind to queue up.
11:28And this is the winners of the fan boost then.
11:31Sebastian Buemi has won the fan boost,
11:33as has Lucas Degrassi.
11:35So all is fair, which is nice to see.
11:37Nick Heidefelt is the third man to try and use the fan boost.
11:43Now, as we were watching that,
11:45Daniel Lapps was getting a bit weavy in front of Sebastian Buemi.
11:49Yeah, he was, he was, and he's got to be careful of that
11:52because they both said they wouldn't do anything dirty.
11:54That's not dirty yet, but it's very, very aggressive.
11:57And, yeah, you've just...
12:00The problem is they're getting held up in front, like you said,
12:02Robin Freintz is probably holding the guys up a little bit.
12:05And this is the situation where he...
12:09Daniel Lapp has to be...
12:11Make sure the door is closed.
12:12He's got a warning flag there for changing direction more than one.
12:15Daniel Lapp has to be...
12:16Every corner has to defend, even if he thinks...
12:18Sebastian Buemi is too far back,
12:20because Buemi will catch him by surprise at some point.
12:24So they're basically saying,
12:25you can cover the inside line, that's fine,
12:28but you can't then come back and then back and then this way and that way.
12:31You've got to choose your line and stick to it on the run into any given corner.
12:36Which I completely agree with.
12:37I hate that weave and...
12:38The defending's all bad enough.
12:40But look how close Sam Bird was through there.
12:42Yeah.
12:43Nothing, nothing doing there.
12:44It's just...
12:46You naturally block the line going into turn eight.
12:48Let's see if he can catch his teammate Knappen,
12:50because that's about the only...
12:51The only chance he's got right now of getting past.
12:53So the head of this queue is the white and blue Andretti car.
12:57There, of Robin Freintz running in fourth position.
12:59Then it's the two silver and purple DS virgins of Verne and Bird.
13:03Then it's Lucas de Grasse, championship leader in seventh place.
13:07Look, he's made up three positions since the start of this E-Prix.
13:10And again, Buemi just looking to the outside line.
13:13Again, de Grasse nudging the back of Sam Bird.
13:16We go on board with the Brazilian now,
13:18through the long left-hander at Rosary Gate.
13:20He's not going to be close enough, though, for a run down into the chicane,
13:23unless he is, but he's not.
13:25Nah, just too far back there.
13:27Look how late Daniel Abt break there.
13:29He's kind of defending by running the speed in, which is the way to do it.
13:33He's got to be careful and get off the corner.
13:35He does not make a mistake.
13:36He cannot afford a mistake right now,
13:37because, number one, he'd let Sebastian Buemi pass.
13:40Number two, he might run into the back of Lucas de Grasse.
13:43And there's our leader by 3.7 seconds.
13:46Nico Prost just doing a fantastic job today.
13:48Great to see him back at the front.
13:50Yeah, and he's just set the fastest lap of...
13:53No, he said that earlier on, didn't he?
13:54But he has the fastest lap of the race, Nico Prost.
13:57As we see again, everybody running nose-for-tail
14:00down into the left-hander at Prince Albert.
14:02And it's just a case of who's going to make the mistake.
14:06Well, they're playing nice right now.
14:07Who's going to be the first one not to play nice?
14:09Who's going to be the first one to sort of make a half-move,
14:12to make a big lunge?
14:13Who do you reckon? Who's your money on for that move?
14:15I think Vern.
14:16I think Vern, too.
14:17So Jean-Éric Vern in that first silver and purple DS car,
14:20the first guy queued up behind Robin Fainz's Andretti machine.
14:24To me, I think he's going to be the one who's going to have
14:26to make the lunge straight away.
14:27And Sebastian Buemi was so close to the back of Daniel Apt there.
14:30And that is Buemi's car we're looking at from the rear
14:33of the machine of Daniel Apt.
14:37And once again, he covers the inside line.
14:39And a late move from Buemi.
14:40And he thinks this way, he thinks that way.
14:42And that was Buemi weaving around for a moment.
14:44I thought we were looking back at Mexico,
14:46where Buemi managed to weave into the back of Jerome D'Ambrosio.
14:50Through the long left-hander.
14:51Now Apt will have to stay to the right-hand side.
14:54And he manages to do so.
14:55Behind this battle, Heidfeldt's intent.
14:57Then it's D'Ambrosio and Duval for the Dragon team,
15:00not making much progress.
15:01Then Da Costa, Sarazan, Conway to Silvestro Piquet,
15:04and Martin Hua at the tail end of the field at the moment.
15:07And Buemi has to manage his frustration level,
15:11because that's what catches him out at times, that frustration.
15:14When he's calm, he's exceptional.
15:17When he gets that less frustration, get the better of him,
15:19we've seen what happens.
15:21He's got to just stay calm,
15:22because Daniel Apt is making it very difficult.
15:24And he's trying to egg him into a mistake.
15:27You know, when you talk about Sam Byrne and Jean-Erik Byrne,
15:29they can't break the golden rule.
15:31They cannot take their teammates out.
15:32They're racing for position here.
15:34But that's why I think Byrne can have a chance
15:36and I think Byrne can have that attack on Robin Fraintes,
15:39because everybody else is kind of hamstrung by him
15:41for some other reason,
15:42whether it's championship
15:43or whether it's your teammate in front of you.
15:45Lap 11 of 33, one-third race distance here
15:48in the Visa London E3,
15:49the first of two races this weekend
15:51around the streets of Battersea Park.
15:53Thank you very much for joining us,
15:54and what a race we're seeing.
15:55Frost is disappearing up at the front ahead of Senna,
15:58but this is where it matters for the championship.
16:01Degrassi, who's in the first
16:03of those green, yellow and red cars,
16:05he's the man leading the championship at the moment,
16:07and he's running in seventh place.
16:08Here they come!
16:09Oh, Sam Byrne trying to get past
16:11Jean-Erik Byrne in the DS Virgin car.
16:13Byrne, to me, looked a bit weeby there as well,
16:15but very tight between the pair of them.
16:18By crystal ball says,
16:20Byrne's about to get a warning for that.
16:22That's a bit beyond, especially with your teammate.
16:25That says to me he might not be staying there next year,
16:27just by his body language in the car.
16:30Here we go.
16:31So, look at this.
16:32Verne had the inside line covered.
16:33Looking in the left mirror.
16:34Moved towards the inside,
16:35and then moved even more.
16:36And then moved back.
16:37That's not right.
16:38That's just wrong.
16:39And then, look at it from Degrassi's,
16:41guys, thinking, oh, God,
16:42don't take each other out right now, guys, please.
16:44I'm not sure how they didn't take each other out.
16:46They hit him again.
16:48You might have hit him,
16:49but it's light working this time.
16:51It's Daniel App with the dead light, isn't it?
16:53After he got hit earlier on.
16:55So, fantastic battles throughout the order,
16:57after the game going defensive.
16:59And what a difference this is making for Lucas Degrassi
17:02to have that rear gunner behind him.
17:05It's a lovely feeling to have your teammates behind you.
17:07I've been lucky enough to have that,
17:08been in that position in championship fights before,
17:10whether it was Toni Canaan or Scott Dixon.
17:12And it is a great feeling to have them there.
17:14Know somebody is behind you that you can trust.
17:16Great sweep from Franzi,
17:19using the hashtag LondonE3.
17:21This is how I like my race.
17:23Exciting, fair, and a bit nerve-wracking.
17:25It's definitely nerve-wracking,
17:26particularly if you've got any interest
17:28in the championship outcome
17:29between Buemi and Degrassi.
17:30But these guys have got to be careful.
17:32They're just sort of not to cross that line of weaving.
17:35And Sam Bird is under pressure now from Lucas Degrassi.
17:38He's looking, he's doing it, he's going from the outside.
17:41He's not going to try and go all the way around there, is he?
17:44He's going to be careful.
17:46If he didn't have Daniel App behind him,
17:47he would be in all kinds of trouble.
17:48And here comes Buemi looking on App again.
17:50And there's the look from Degrassi.
17:53He's got the inside line.
17:54Sebastian Buemi trying to follow through.
17:56And Degrassi makes the move.
17:58He goes past Sam Bird and is up into sixth place.
18:01And the Renault Edam's team are going,
18:03oh, yeah, yeah, that's not what we needed.
18:05Because Buemi couldn't get past Daniel App.
18:07So now there's a two-car buffer
18:09in between the championship leader and the man
18:11in second place in the standings.
18:13Degrassi seventh, Buemi ninth.
18:15And what we saw there was him putting him out of position
18:17two corners before and then getting the pass done.
18:19Absolute textbook.
18:21Now, he's got to be careful,
18:22because Jean-Erik Verne has been climbing a very wide car
18:24and he's not afraid to weave about a bit.
18:26So this next one, he's got to be very careful
18:28how he makes this pass.
18:29So, as far as usable energy is concerned,
18:32Nico Prost on the left-hand side at 28% is looking good.
18:35Turvey looking a little bit weak.
18:37It looks like he's going to pit a lap earlier
18:38than anyone else, I would have imagined.
18:40Robin Frakes is doing a good job.
18:42He's got, I think, the most usable energy out there.
18:44Certainly in the top 16 drivers.
18:48Even though he is holding up this pack a little bit,
18:50well, an awful lot,
18:52he's still getting some good usable energy out of it.
18:54Now, what does Daniel App do then?
18:57In that second half-chafferati sport car there
19:00with the black helmet,
19:02does he try and attack Sam Bird in front of him,
19:05or does he just sit and wait
19:07and make sure that he keeps Sebastian Buemi behind?
19:10I think I'm sitting and waiting right now.
19:12I think, as a team player,
19:14you've got to sort of do that sitting and waiting.
19:16You want to get ahead,
19:17but it's not going to help Lucas Di Grassi's championship
19:19by him getting ahead of Sam Bird.
19:21His job is really to keep Sebastian Buemi behind,
19:25and if Lucas can pass another couple of cars,
19:28so much the better for them.
19:29That's sort of team tactics in a way,
19:31and if I'm Sebastian Buemi,
19:32I'm getting frustrated right now,
19:33but that's the game.
19:34Look at that move.
19:35Sam Bird had a go at blocking it,
19:38but realised it wasn't on.
19:39Yeah, got there nice and early, Lucas Di Grassi.
19:41Yeah, perfect.
19:42And there's the reaction in the app garage.
19:45A round of applause.
19:46The other thing to consider for Daniel Apt, of course.
19:49Oh, and there's Jean-Paul Trier.
19:51I wish I could lip read in French.
19:53Yeah, exactly.
19:54If Nina's listening, can you lip read in French?
19:56Here's the look from Daniel Apt.
19:57He's having to defend really hard from Buemi.
19:59Oh, and Buemi has to really get out of it.
20:01You were never going to get around the outside at turn three, though.
20:03No, but it was only a move that was open to him,
20:05but Sebastian knew at that point.
20:07He thought, if I don't get out of this,
20:08he's going to feed me into the barrier, so...
20:10Yeah, it's not correct.
20:13It's tough, and that would be...
20:16The steam would be coming at my ears right now,
20:17as it's starting to do with Sebastian Buemi.
20:20He has to be careful, though.
20:21So if you went to the outside at turn three like that,
20:24you wouldn't expect Daniel Apt to do what he just did?
20:27No, no.
20:28That was right, and Buemi pre-empted it.
20:31He just knew it wasn't on, so he just left it out.
20:33If he could stay all the way on the outside of him
20:35as he exited, fine.
20:38But he was only halfway alongside at best.
20:40And here comes Daniel Apt, and he's going past Sam Byrne.
20:42Oh, but he's locked up, goodness me!
20:44He almost takes out his team-mate!
20:45That could have been a catastrophe of epic proportions,
20:49but fortunately they all just carry on as normal.
20:52Breathe, Jack, breathe!
20:53But is Apt slowing down to let Byrne back through?
20:56What are these two doing?
20:57They're just kind of swapping positions for no apparent reason.
21:00It looked to me as though Byrne sort of let Daniel Apt through there.
21:03That was interesting.
21:04I have no idea.
21:05Boy, he's going, please let me through.
21:07And Robin Frains is still holding it up there.
21:09And Bruno...
21:10Nico Prost is now 5.7 seconds ahead of Bruno Senna.
21:14He's just driving away with it right now.
21:16He's doing a great job there.
21:17Impressive stuff from Nico Prost, who leads the way.
21:19Bruno Senna in second place.
21:20Oliver Turvey, the British driver,
21:22still in third position for next EV.
21:25And in fourth place is still Robin Frains.
21:27I'm going to work out if we need to stop a lap early.
21:29Sam Bird trying to push on the back of...
21:32...efficiency guys.
21:34I'm just getting past left, right and centre.
21:36This was the move from Buemi before.
21:38Got alongside, but you're not going to be able to do it, are you?
21:41Nah, he's not far enough along,
21:42and he knew what Daniel Apt was going to do.
21:44And Sam Bird's lost the place to Sebastian Buemi.
21:48And Sam Bird is...
21:49We heard him just on the radio there saying,
21:51efficiency-wise, I'm in big trouble.
21:53I'm losing places left, right and centre.
21:56So that was him having to just lift and coast here.
21:58He's had to come off the accelerator there
22:00just because he has to save the energy,
22:02and then, oh, my goodness.
22:03That was close.
22:05And then, you know,
22:06Buemi now has Daniel Apt between him and his championship rival again.
22:09And this was Buemi going past Sam Bird like he wasn't even there.
22:12Yeah.
22:13And again, that's that lifting and coasting.
22:15They were saying that a lot of the cars now are telling the driver
22:17when they have to lift and coast to make the targets each lap.
22:20And that's...
22:21You know, a lot of the guys have got this new system
22:24that allows them to...
22:25It tells them, you know,
22:26OK, lift and coast now.
22:27And if you want to...
22:28If you want to make the target, you've got to do it.
22:30If you sort of don't make the target,
22:33then the next lap's even worse.
22:34So at some point, you've got to pay it.
22:36It's like tax.
22:37Lap...
22:38Lap 16 of...
22:40Lap 16 of...
22:41That tickled me.
22:42Lap 16 of 33, then.
22:44And Prost leads,
22:46Senna second, Turvey third.
22:47Those two are on to their final lap before pitting
22:49because they've only got 6% and 5% respectively.
22:51Senna saved some energy,
22:53then nailed it and set the fastest lap of the race.
22:56And Prost and Senna are 14 seconds ahead of Oliver Turvey in third.
23:00Then it's Robin Frank still holding on to fourth position.
23:03Verne still in fifth.
23:04Lucas Degrassi up into sixth place.
23:06And in fact, yes!
23:07Buemi is through.
23:08Buemi's past Daniel Lapton.
23:09How did he do that?
23:10So Sebastian Buemi is up past Daniel Lapton.
23:13That is going to be frustrating for the Apt team.
23:15Watch out quickly.
23:16He reels in Lucas Degrassi.
23:18He's almost there already.
23:19And that's when, you know,
23:21if he puts pressure on now, on Lucas,
23:24all's fair.
23:25You know, where is he going to put that pressure on?
23:27And he knows now that he's dealing with a guy
23:30who's got an equal thing to lose,
23:32an equal amount to lose.
23:33So the risk is the same for both of them.
23:35So let's see how aggressive he is going to be in this situation.
23:37He looked in the mirror there.
23:38Did you see him glancing?
23:39Yeah.
23:40How far back is Daniel Lapton?
23:41Is he going to lunge me to get that position back?
23:43Lucas is now thinking,
23:44oh, God, I've got to get past Sean Eric Byrne quickly
23:47because my championship rival is right behind me,
23:50and I don't want that.
23:51Into the pitch then comes Bruno Senna.
23:53So, Prost leading.
23:54Senna was second with Turvey third,
23:56but those two have now come into the pits.
23:58Oh, here's Turvey.
23:59Yeah.
24:00And then, Braintz in fourth,
24:02Verne in fifth,
24:03sixth for Lucas de Grassi.
24:04Seeing a couple more pit stops coming in there,
24:06but then we had Buemi and Abt.
24:09So Braintz has gone for another lap.
24:11Good man.
24:12Well, yeah, he was going slowly,
24:14but seemed to be doing reasonably well
24:16on the usable energy remaining.
24:18So across the line they come,
24:19and the order will shuffle about now
24:21for the next couple of laps,
24:22because we will wait and see where they all come out.
24:25Into the pits comes Oliver Turvey
24:27from an excellent third position.
24:30Buemi and de Grassi are on the same lap as well,
24:32so we're not going to see them coming into the pits
24:34at the same time.
24:36Into the pits then comes Jerome D'Ambrosio,
24:39and further back in the order,
24:41lap 17 of 33.
24:4317 laps to go now.
24:45So we're pretty much,
24:46well, we're at the halfway distance now
24:48as they make their way halfway around the lap.
24:52So that means that Frost, Braintz,
24:54Verne, de Grassi, Buemi have all done a better job
24:56at managing their energy
24:57than the likes of Senna and Turvey.
25:00And de Grassi got caught,
25:02Buemi caught him two tenths that lap
25:04through the first sector alone.
25:06Yeah, impressive stuff.
25:08Bruno Senna's still the man
25:09with the fastest lap of the race.
25:10As they come out of the pits now,
25:12Jerome D'Ambrosio,
25:13and is that Bird?
25:15I think like Bird
25:17out behind,
25:18but behind one of the Aguri cars.
25:21It looked like he was behind Antonio Felix da Costa.
25:23Yeah, he lost two seconds in the pits there, Sam Bird,
25:26compared to the other drivers.
25:28So that's not good news at all for him.
25:30Now, look at this,
25:31Lucas de Grassi into the pits.
25:32He's got to be on the gearbox of the car in front.
25:34You know, that's how to make an advantage here.
25:36You've got to be on the gearbox.
25:37So in comes Freight in that blue and white Andretti car.
25:41Got to watch for unsafe releases here.
25:43Yeah.
25:44So you've got to make sure you release your car in a safe way.
25:48And in a very busy pit lane,
25:50that can be pretty tricky.
25:52Through they come.
25:53That's a look back at the blue and yellow Renault
25:55of Sebastian Buemi,
25:56who we go on board with now.
25:58Can these guys get past Turvey in the pit stop sequence here,
26:04who pitted a lap earlier.
26:05In goes de Grassi.
26:06That's another good point to watch out for.
26:08Turvey was in third position as Bruno Senna was in second place,
26:11but he was miles up the road as well.
26:13De Grassi gets strapped in.
26:14Buemi gets strapped in.
26:16These guys have enough time to change cars.
26:19It's not time limited.
26:20There is a minimum pit stop time,
26:22but it is pretty tight.
26:24You've got to get on and do it.
26:25Nico Pross, meanwhile, race leader,
26:26has pitted and then headed out.
26:28Look at the clock there on the right-hand side.
26:29Two.
26:30One.
26:31Go Lucas.
26:32Where's he going to come out?
26:33Oh, he's going to go right out behind Robin Fraince.
26:35And it's Verne in front of Fraince.
26:38So Verne out in front of Robin Fraince.
26:41Then it's de Grassi.
26:42Then it's Buemi.
26:44And line of Stern.
26:46And where are they all going to come out
26:47with regards to Oliver Turvey
26:49as they come out onto the straight again?
26:51Where's Turvey?
26:52Keep an eye out for that next EV car.
26:54Well, you won't see it from...
26:56There he is.
26:57So Turvey is still in a net third place.
26:59Then Verne in fourth.
27:01And Fraince in fifth.
27:02So that's the only swap we've seen.
27:04John Eric Verne doing a great job
27:05to get out in front of Robin Fraince.
27:07In fact, Fraince's lap was...
27:09Fraince's pit stop was two seconds slower
27:12than anyone else's.
27:13And he's defending already from Lucas Degrassi.
27:15And Buemi is on Degrassi's gearbox.
27:18There could be less lifting and coasting,
27:20I would say, in this sector of the race,
27:22in this segment, the second car.
27:24So we're going to see more action, I would say.
27:27Now they know where they are,
27:29what the situation is.
27:31It's going to be flat out now
27:33for the last 16 laps of this E-Prix.
27:35And we've still got our championship battlers.
27:37Nose to tail on the circuit.
27:39Lucas Degrassi one point ahead of Sebastian Buemi.
27:42There and there.
27:43The last two cars in that little queue of four
27:45are our championship leaders
27:47in sixth and seventh positions respectively
27:51for Degrassi and Buemi.
27:52Fraince covers the inside line.
27:54And then pulls out to the racing line though.
27:56So that's probably not on.
27:58They're pushing it a bit here, these guys.
28:00Drops of rain in the E-Village as well,
28:02I'm being told.
28:03Thank you to Sven for that.
28:04Because there's not enough drama right now, is there?
28:06Exactly.
28:07That's our race leader, by the way,
28:08Nico Prost.
28:09I've never thought we'd have Senna and Prost,
28:12or Prost and Senna leading the race.
28:14And we're not even looking at them.
28:15There's Oliver Terby in third position.
28:18Then there's John Eric Verne in fourth position.
28:21Then the blue and white Andretti car
28:23of Robin Franks in fifth.
28:24Let's see how quickly John Eric is catching.
28:28Well, he got him sort of, what?
28:29Nine tenths that lap.
28:30He's got Terby nine tenths though.
28:32I would expect a battle there at some point fairly soon.
28:36Sarah Merritt says it's raining here at turn three at the moment,
28:40even though the sun appears to be out.
28:42And James Harman says it's raining hard at turns six and seven.
28:45So we'll keep an eye out on that.
28:47No evidence of it on the screens just yet.
28:50Wemi said earlier, he said he really struggled today.
28:53So the car is really fast in the drive, struggled in the rain.
28:56So this is not what he wants to see right now.
28:59But it's still beautiful.
29:00We can see a few spots of rain on the camera lens, can't you?
29:03That might be a bug.
29:04Sun, sunlight.
29:06And here comes the grassy up the inside of Robin Franks,
29:08coming down into the lake chicane.
29:10And is he going to get through?
29:11Yes.
29:12The grassy up into fifth place.
29:14You could see him there just break a little bit.
29:16Look at the rain.
29:17Look at the rain.
29:18Oh, and he's raining.
29:19We've never had a wet race in Formula E.
29:20And here comes Sebastian Buemi up the inside of Robin Franks.
29:22He's not close enough.
29:23We've never had a wet race in FIA Formula E.
29:26These cars are on essentially racing road tyres.
29:30They don't need to come into the pits to change to wet.
29:32These tyres can work in wet conditions as well.
29:34Here comes Buemi.
29:35He's got around the outside and he's got past Robin Franks.
29:38Up the inside into the Millennium Chicane.
29:40So now it's fifth and sixth for the two championship protagonists.
29:44John-Paul Drio on the left-hand side there,
29:46can hardly deal with the stress as the rain continues to fall.
29:49Breathe, Jack. Breathe.
29:51But this rain is just going to throw yet another hand grenade into this whole thing.
29:56What? What's on the street?
29:58Look at that.
30:00Bouncing off the leaves there.
30:01And Buemi and Degrassi continue to shadow each other, moving up the grid.
30:06Yeah, absolutely incredible stuff.
30:08And off goes Daniel Lap, he's hit the wall.
30:10He's lost it.
30:11Oh, and he's hit Franks.
30:12What a horrible, clumsy accident.
30:15And heads in hands for the AP team.
30:17That's their championship in big, big trouble now.
30:20Yeah.
30:21Thanks to Daniel Lap's error.
30:22Because that had been caused by just a little bit of rain.
30:25Will that bring out a safety car?
30:26Will it bring out a full course yellow?
30:28So many questions here in Battersea Park.
30:31Oh, yeah, Francis.
30:32I think he damaged the left.
30:34Did he damage the left rear when he got hit?
30:35Not his fault at all.
30:37Safety car deployed.
30:38And so that eradicates...
30:40Oh, Prost and Senna's lead.
30:42Brings Jean-Erik Verne, Lucas Degrassi,
30:46and Sebastian Buemi right into it again.
30:49Goodness me.
30:50So safety car deployed.
30:51And it's raining.
30:52And it's raining.
30:53At least, you know, the guys who were out in the raining qualifying,
30:56yeah, they got disadvantaged by that.
30:59They've driven on a wet track.
31:00Yeah.
31:01There's a bunch of guys up ahead here
31:02who haven't been near a wet track yet.
31:03They don't know what to expect.
31:05Oh, the brakes shaking his head.
31:08And...
31:09He had a crash this morning that was his fault.
31:11This was not in any way, shape, or form.
31:13Now, where did he...
31:14His fault.
31:15Oh, he went to the outside of Freight's.
31:18He's trying to go around the outside of Freight's at two
31:20to get the inside line for three
31:22and gone offline.
31:23Pretty brave.
31:24Let's see here.
31:25Yeah.
31:26Oh, and the hit.
31:27Yeah.
31:28Now, did...
31:29Was that a question of Robin Freight's coming across
31:30or...
31:31or Daniel App just misjudging it?
31:33Wow.
31:34Well, judging by that, he thinks that Robin came across
31:36by the hand gesture.
31:37Oh, here we go.
31:38Discussion.
31:39So, there is the Qualcomm safety car.
31:44If you did hear any swearing on the team radio,
31:47we'd like to apologise.
31:49I didn't hear that, no.
31:50But...
31:51We think we're okay.
31:52But if you did hear swearing, sorry.
31:54Daniel App wasn't very happy, that's for sure.
31:57Now, there is...
31:59Oh, the safety car's picked up the wrong car, yeah?
32:01Oh, no.
32:02So he's got to wave everyone through.
32:04We're on lap 21 of 33.
32:06So this yellow's gonna last a bit longer than it probably should.
32:09What that means is more laps under caution.
32:12When this thing's turned green again,
32:14there's only one speed.
32:15There's no lifting coast.
32:16Yeah.
32:17Flat out as hard as you can go.
32:18Yeah, absolutely.
32:19There is Daniel App.
32:20And it could take a couple of laps to remove his car as well,
32:23because we've got two cars to pick up down there.
32:26It's an interesting scenario there for Daniel App,
32:30because...
32:31and for Robin Freight,
32:32because it's very rare,
32:34unless Franks was in real lift and coast trouble,
32:37and he had to come off the power really early.
32:39Hello to everybody watching on the big screens there.
32:44Unless he had to come off really early,
32:46to get a long side through two is quite an effort.
32:48It was a great move.
32:49No, absolutely no doubt.
32:50But one of them misjudged it.
32:52Whether both of them misjudged it, I don't know.
32:54We can't see clearly enough.
32:55But the result is the App car and the MS Amlin Andretti car are both in kit form now.
33:02Yeah.
33:03And that's the end of the day.
33:04They'll have to rebuild that for tomorrow,
33:06because we do it all again tomorrow for the championship finale.
33:08There's Bruno Senna running in second position at the moment.
33:12And Jean-Erik Bern in...
33:14Sorry, Oliver Turvey in third place.
33:16But these are the cars, the safety car is waiting to pick up.
33:19And then everyone will catch up to each other in a couple of moments' time.
33:24So this will bring everyone back together.
33:28If they want to go slowly, because obviously they got to let the...
33:33sort of...
33:34to let everybody else catch up as they catch up to the pace car.
33:36And they also want to use...
33:37don't want to use any more energy than they have to,
33:39but it's still raining.
33:40Yeah.
33:41Is that a summer shower?
33:42Is that what they call that?
33:43What's that?
33:44I was walking over to the commentary box earlier on,
33:46before FP2 or something,
33:48and it was raining, but the sky was blue.
33:50Yeah.
33:51No idea what's going on.
33:52How does that happen?
33:53I don't know.
33:54What has happened to this country in the last two weeks?
33:56You know?
33:57It's mad.
33:58Rain with no clouds.
33:59Exactly.
34:00Rain...
34:01Yeah, but anyway, there we are.
34:03So we have Prost and Senna up front battling.
34:06Yep.
34:07With Carlisle's finest, Oliver Turvey.
34:09Yes, in third position.
34:11Great to see a Brit on the podium.
34:13If Turvey can hold on, he's got less usable energy
34:17than Jean-Erik Bern behind.
34:20All the...
34:21Yes, Virgin.
34:23Sam Bird down into eighth position then.
34:25So those positions he lost coming down just before the pit stop window
34:30really didn't work out.
34:31But we've got the diggers out now.
34:33And...
34:34That will lift up down your lap.
34:37Now here we go again.
34:38So look at that.
34:39He had so much more speed.
34:40He sort of had to go to the outside.
34:42Got on the dirt.
34:43And then...
34:44Well...
34:45I don't think...
34:46I don't think Freight's moved over that much.
34:49To be brutally honest.
34:50I don't know.
34:51Perhaps was a bit frustrated.
34:52And then...
34:53Here's the...
34:54Interaction between them.
34:55A little shrug of the shoulders.
34:56You know, as a driver it was very rare that I thought it was my fault.
35:00Hello, guys.
35:01You alright?
35:02You having a fun day?
35:03Good.
35:04As a...
35:05This is the championship as it stands.
35:06Lucas de Grassi would move three points clear of Sebastian Buemi.
35:07So he'd gain two points.
35:08But...
35:09Still got fastest laps to try and set potentially for Sebastian Buemi and Lucas de Grassi.
35:11So...
35:12We've still got 12 laps to go.
35:13In fact...
35:14As well.
35:15Lap 22 of 33.
35:16And...
35:17Uh...
35:18We've still got 12 laps to go.
35:19In fact...
35:20As well.
35:21Lap 22 of 33.
35:22And...
35:23Uh...
35:24We've still got 12 laps to go.
35:26In fact...
35:27As well.
35:28Lap 22 of 33.
35:33And...
35:34Uh...
35:35This advantage for...
35:36This also doesn't...
35:37Um...
35:38Give Renault enough points to wrap up the title today.
35:41With the...
35:42We had a 13 point advantage coming into this one.
35:45But with...
35:46De Grassi still in fifth.
35:47That's a reasonable chunk of championship points.
35:49But it's not going to help...
35:51Uh...
35:52At all.
35:53And...
35:54Uh...
35:55They come down through the...
35:56Uh...
35:57First corner.
35:58And...
35:59Uh...
36:00Uh...
36:01Well...
36:02Let's see if we can talk to...
36:04Uh...
36:05Antonio Felix da Costa.
36:06Shall we, Dario?
36:10Antonio.
36:11It's Dario in the commentary booth.
36:12How's it going though?
36:13You've made a lot of progress from your start position.
36:17Hey Dario.
36:18Hey guys.
36:19Yeah, pretty good.
36:20Um...
36:21Uh...
36:22In the beginning I was just trying to save a lot of energy.
36:24And then I could get...
36:25To good...
36:26To good use of it.
36:27And uh...
36:28Yeah.
36:29Now just uh...
36:30Let's see what we can do from here.
36:31Uh...
36:32Everyone's going to have a lot of energy left.
36:33So uh...
36:34Yeah.
36:35But feeling good.
36:36Let's see what we can do.
36:37How hard are you going to push the two championship guys ahead of you?
36:42I don't really care who's in front of me.
36:44Uh...
36:45I just want to go forwards and...
36:46Try and end this season up on a high.
36:47So...
36:48Yeah.
36:49Just race him like any other...
36:50Any other two guys.
36:51And uh...
36:52We have a lot of respect between all of us.
36:53So...
36:54Let's keep it that way.
36:56Good luck.
36:57Thanks for talking to us.
37:01That guy is awesome.
37:02I just love his attitude.
37:03Yeah.
37:04Great stuff from Antonio Felix Dacosta then running in 7th place at the moment.
37:07From 14th start position.
37:09Yeah.
37:10Impressive stuff.
37:11Uh...
37:12One man that had a bit of trouble was Stefan Sarazan.
37:13He was 30 seconds longer in the pits than everyone else.
37:16Thank you to Carrie for pointing that out.
37:18Uh...
37:19But I'm not pretty sure what happened.
37:20So we'll try and investigate it in 15th place now.
37:22Stefan Sarazan.
37:23Safety cars still deployed here at Battersea Park.
37:27The penultimate round of the FIA Formula E Championship.
37:30The final round is coming up tomorrow.
37:33And uh...
37:34You'll want to join us.
37:35Because if it's half as entertaining as this it's going to be excellent.
37:37And also we've got the championship to be decided.
37:39Degrassi against Buemi.
37:40He's coming in this lap.
37:41He's coming in this lap.
37:42Confirmed.
37:43That's Sandbird being told the safety car is coming in this lap.
37:47So the lights will go off on the Qualcomm safety car.
37:50It'll pull into the pits.
37:52And the racing...
37:53And all hell will be pretty close.
37:55Just for anybody that's wondering why I didn't speak to Degrassi of Buemi.
37:59I'm too chicken to be honest.
38:00I think they've got enough on their plate just now.
38:02And I don't really want to interview.
38:03We're doing it when the safety car comes in.
38:04That's the time to speak.
38:05Oh yeah.
38:06Or in the braking zone.
38:07Yeah.
38:08That was always my favourite.
38:09Okay.
38:10Let's see.
38:11Let's see what happens here.
38:12Who's your money on?
38:13Well...
38:14I don't know.
38:15Because is Pross now going to have to be part of a team game?
38:19Or is he now just going to disappear up the road?
38:21Nah, he's too far ahead isn't he?
38:23I think Pross just going to go for the win.
38:25Okay.
38:26There's the app team.
38:27Their man Lucas Degrassi.
38:29Leading the championship.
38:30Fifth at the moment.
38:31Still that sort of drizzle coming down.
38:33It's probably going to make a pretty greasy surface.
38:36Turn three is going to be interesting in that first lap.
38:38How early is Pross going to go?
38:39That's a very good point as well.
38:41That's what I would be worried about right now.
38:43And now the safety car line also is where the timing line was before.
38:48So in theory you can overtake into the final corner.
38:51In comes the Qualcomm safety car.
38:53And we're going to get racing back underway here at Battersea Park.
38:56Nico Pross looks like he's gone already to be honest with you.
38:58Yeah, he does.
38:59Got to watch for the concertino effect though.
39:01So the green flag is out.
39:03And away goes Pross, Senna, Turvey, Verne, Degrassi, Buemi.
39:07That's the top six as it stands as they come into the final corner.
39:11Degrassi tucked right up behind the rear wing of Jean-Erik Verne in the battle over fourth position.
39:16Pross, Senna, Turvey the top three.
39:18And then there is Sebastian Buemi just showing his nose to Lucas Degrassi behind him.
39:23Ten laps to go.
39:24A ten lap shootout here in Formula E as they get on the brakes to come down into turn three.
39:28Degrassi not quite close enough to try and attack Jean-Erik Verne.
39:32And we've got Da Costa, the man we just spoke to in seventh place, doesn't care who these guys are.
39:37He wants to overtake them.
39:38Yeah, he will attack anybody, but I'm sure he'll do it in a way that it's very respectful.
39:43We're going to turn up to turn eight there.
39:46The rear right of Degrassi's car has just got a little bag.
39:50It had that earlier.
39:51I don't know if he caught the edge of the barrier or maybe it was just some debris from earlier.
39:55Yeah, it's not the actual rear pod hanging off, is it?
39:59So he should be all right, Lucas Degrassi.
40:01But it's certain.
40:02He's all over the back of Jean-Erik Verne, isn't he?
40:05Yeah.
40:06Where is he going to get enough room to make a pass?
40:07Is he going to do it through 13 into the last chicane there at 14.15?
40:11Look at Verne looking, he's so busy looking in the mirrors, he almost crashed in the back of Turvey.
40:16So Jean-Erik Verne in that purple and silver DS Virgin car.
40:19We're on board with Sebastian Buemi right out behind his championship rival.
40:22Is he going to be close enough for a look?
40:24Will he fancy a look?
40:25No, he won't.
40:26Degrassi late on the brakes.
40:28He'd have to pop out a little bit earlier than that to get that move done.
40:31I'm surprised Degrassi didn't try it though on Jean-Erik Verne.
40:34That's how the championship stands if it finishes like this.
40:36Degrassi extends his lead from one point to three points,
40:39going to the final race of the season here in Battersea Park tomorrow.
40:43Across the line they come.
40:44Nico Prost, son of Alain Prost, leading the way.
40:46Ayrton Senna, nephew...
40:48Bruno Senna, nephew of Ayrton Senna, running in second place.
40:51Oliver Turvey in third.
40:52Fourth place is that DS Virgin car of Jean-Erik Verne.
40:56The man who has 58 Grand Prix starts for Toro Rosso under his belt,
41:02under big pressure from Lucas Degrassi.
41:05And the reason that Stefan Sarrazan had 30 seconds in the pits
41:10was that his car was in the wrong power setting.
41:12So they had to get that all back together,
41:15and that's why he's down in 14th place.
41:17We're always told to do the obvious things right,
41:20and that's not doing the obvious things right, is it?
41:22That's making a mistake.
41:23Oh!
41:24Verne is defending there again from Degrassi.
41:27And any mistake from Degrassi will just open the door
41:30to Sebastian Buemi.
41:31Nerves are plenty in both the Apt and the Renault garages,
41:35and there's Degrassi, little nose out towards the inside line.
41:38Once again, here comes the look from Verne, locks up.
41:40He's not close enough to attack Derby,
41:42but he thought about it right at the last minute.
41:44Is that going to give Degrassi the opportunity
41:46as they come through turn 13?
41:48The long left-hander at Rosary Gate not close enough.
41:50Surely too far back.
41:52He's defending.
41:53Jean-Erik is defending early.
41:54And he made his intentions known,
41:56and there was no way, there was nothing for Degrassi to do there.
42:00On board with the Brazilian.
42:02They don't mind getting close, do they?
42:03They use that nose and nerf it away.
42:05It's incredible how close and how much contact
42:07there actually is just between the rear trash structure
42:11and the front nose.
42:12Well, it's like when you do a parallel park, isn't it?
42:15You have to nudge the car behind to check you're in the right place.
42:17I saw a guy do that the other day in Road America,
42:19and I applauded him when he got out of his car.
42:22On board with Lucas Degrassi.
42:24Not quite close enough.
42:25Yes, he goes for it.
42:26Degrassi at the inside and they hit each other,
42:28and that almost spins him around.
42:30Here comes Buemi.
42:31Buemi's got the overlap, and Degrassi says,
42:33no way you're coming through there, son.
42:35Goodness me, that got pretty close.
42:37That was that point I was telling you about, Jack.
42:38You've got to go.
42:39You've got to be decisive.
42:40He was not decisive.
42:41Oh, his wing's broken.
42:42Degrassi's front wing is broken.
42:44Well, let's have a look at how badly...
42:46Well, it's hanging over onto the wheels.
42:48If that gets caught in the steering mechanism,
42:50it is all over for him.
42:51Big trouble for Lucas Degrassi.
42:54The front wing lodged underneath the car,
42:56and we've seen drivers given a black and orange flag
42:59for similar incidents last time out in Berlin.
43:02What is going to happen now to Lucas Degrassi,
43:04the championship leader,
43:05could be seeing his challenge go up in smoke.
43:08Well, he's used fan boost.
43:09Up the inside comes Sebastian Buemi.
43:11He does back to the outside line,
43:13but he's not quite close enough to get that move done.
43:16But he's got... Oh, Degrassi's gone in very, very deep,
43:19and Buemi is all over the back of him.
43:21But you can't take the risk today.
43:22It's all about the championship finale tomorrow.
43:25Meanwhile, D'Antelio Felix da Costa
43:27has got past John Eric Verne as well.
43:29So Verne dropping down places.
43:31So far, there's been...
43:34That's Sam Verne at the back there.
43:35The wing's gone for Lucas Degrassi.
43:37That pod has disappeared, so...
43:39Oh, no, is it lodged under the front?
43:40Oh, there it goes.
43:41Oh, there it goes, no.
43:42So that means...
43:43Almost hit it.
43:44That Degrassi is sortable right now,
43:47because the car isn't dangerous in itself.
43:49Yep, agreed.
43:50Agreed.
43:51Whether the stewards see it that way,
43:52whether the Renault E-Dams guys will see it that way.
43:54Oh, big moment for Da Costa.
43:56Huge.
43:57He kept it all together, though.
43:59Goodness me.
44:00I pitched it in here.
44:01It's all happening.
44:02I'm like that Icelandic commentator the other night.
44:04Left 27 and 33.
44:06Lucas Degrassi still holding on to fifth place,
44:08but goodness me,
44:09is he under pressure from Sebastian Buemi,
44:12and that is around a left-handed circuit as well
44:15to lose the front right.
44:16Not ideal?
44:17It's definitely not ideal,
44:18but I don't know if it's a game-changer right now.
44:20You know,
44:21he seems to have a little bit more understeer in the car,
44:23but if he's smart,
44:24he can hold it,
44:25and that's all he needs to do.
44:26He needs to hold it.
44:27Here's Buemi's radio.
44:28So we'll keep the radio open,
44:31and live,
44:32so if Buemi starts shouting,
44:33we'll hear it,
44:34and Nino...
44:39That was the great thing about Alan McNich, actually.
44:41He can speak quick.
44:42He can, can't he?
44:43He's very cultural.
44:45I'm going to turn the comments.
44:47There comes Lucas Degrassi then,
44:49through the long left-hander.
44:50This is where it's going to hurt him, I would say.
44:52If you ask me where it's going to hurt Lucas Degrassi,
44:55in the break-in zones,
44:56but through that long-turn 13.
44:57And I need to apologise,
44:58I was wrong earlier on when I said Da Costa got past Verne,
45:01that was Sam Bird still in that fight,
45:02so Verne in the DS Virgin car is still in fourth place.
45:05My apologies,
45:06that was Sam Bird battling with Antonio Fenix Da Costa in seventh place.
45:10And Nico Prost has taken the fastest lap back from Senna.
45:14Okay, six laps to go.
45:16Lucas Degrassi has just set the fastest lap.
45:18He's just come across the line there...
45:20With a broken car.
45:21...to set the fastest lap.
45:22So, Dario, how will that affect the car?
45:23Make it lighter?
45:24Yeah, exactly.
45:25Maybe the car was too oversteering,
45:27that's just helped him out,
45:28just trimmed it out nicely for him.
45:29So, these are our championship rivals,
45:32Lucas Degrassi and Sebastian Buemi.
45:34There, fifth and sixth.
45:36As it stands, the gap would open up.
45:38Well, now it would open up to five points,
45:40because it would be three points...
45:42Well, here you can see it.
45:43Up to five points because of that fastest lap,
45:45but Buemi is going to do everything in his power
45:47to get past the man in front of him.
45:49On board we go through the long left-hander at Rosary Gate.
45:52No, no, sorry.
45:53We're heading down towards the chicanes.
45:54Little start around from Buemi.
45:55Buemi is so fast through the six-seven corners,
45:58but he cannot make a pass in eight,
46:00but it gets him this close,
46:01coming up here to 11 and 12.
46:03Can he make this move?
46:04Degrassi covers the inside line.
46:06Look how much more speed Buemi's got.
46:07He looks to the outside later on.
46:09The brakes.
46:10Are they going to get it stopped?
46:11Just about.
46:12Degrassi holds the place.
46:14Goodness me, these two are racing wheel to wheel.
46:17These are the two championship protagonists.
46:20Don't...
46:21This is where Buemi cannot lose his temper.
46:24There goes Sam Bird around the outside of Da Costa.
46:27What a great move that was.
46:28Bird now up into seventh position.
46:30We heard some team radio a moment ago
46:32to Sebastian Buemi.
46:34And it was Nina Rochette
46:40has said that they've said to Buemi
46:42stay cool.
46:43The FIA will do their job.
46:45Because he's getting a little bit wound up
46:46about Degrassi's problem, I suppose.
46:48And...
46:49Yeah.
46:50Yeah.
46:51Again, this is where they should be on the radio,
46:56so it's stay calm.
46:57Come on.
46:58Stefan Sarazan just set the fastest lap of the race.
47:00Now, here we go again.
47:01And this was Buemi looking for the outside.
47:03Degrassi holding the inside line.
47:05Kept it all together just about.
47:07Buemi did nothing wrong there.
47:08Absolutely nothing wrong there.
47:09Yeah.
47:10Absolutely nothing wrong.
47:11And you could say they both went all four wheels off,
47:12and they sort of did, but...
47:13It was avoiding an accident.
47:14Look at those two cars in front.
47:16It was no more cutting the camera than anyone else.
47:18Nothing wrong there at all.
47:19You know, Buemi did a great job of avoiding an accident,
47:22of avoiding taking himself out of the game,
47:24but Lucas Degrassi did nothing wrong.
47:27Here's Oliver Turvey now.
47:29He's running in third place,
47:30and he's not stopped much more usable energy remaining.
47:34And there...
47:35Oh, and there's contact!
47:36Is he pushing it?
47:37Is he pushing it?
47:38Oliver Turvey!
47:39I see.
47:40And that's allowed Degrassi to catch up back to the both of them.
47:42So, Turvey in third,
47:43and he's now got to try and save energy like crazy,
47:45because look,
47:46he has got 28% usable energy remaining.
47:48Mike Conway is on a charge there.
47:50Looked like he was getting involved in a fight.
47:52I'll try and figure out what on earth was going on there.
47:54But Turvey, 28% usable energy.
47:57Verne, 31%.
47:59So he's got so much more.
48:00There's our race leader, Nico Prost.
48:02Sliding out of the final corner comes second place man, Bruno Senna.
48:06Look how close Buemi is to Degrassi.
48:10Then it's third for Turvey, fourth for Verne, fifth for Degrassi.
48:14Look from Buemi, diving around, dancing around
48:17in the mirrors of the Brazilian,
48:18just to try and put him off a little bit
48:20as we come down towards turn three at Prince Albert.
48:22Could not believe on the grid how trimmed out some of these cars were,
48:25especially the E-Dams cars.
48:27The Renault E-Dams cars were really trimmed out,
48:30which was a big surprise after qualifying.
48:32Nelson Piquet is just at the fastest lap of the race,
48:36which takes those two points away from Degrassi.
48:39Through the quick left-hander up towards Sun Gate.
48:43Appropriate in these conditions,
48:45because the sun is coming out here.
48:47And there's a look from Buemi again,
48:51darting one way, darting to the other.
48:53But again, he's put him off line,
48:54he's put him off the natural line,
48:56so he'll be able to get a better exit out of this corner.
48:58He's forced him to defend again.
49:00If he can keep this up, he might have a chance
49:02through 13, into 14.
49:03Look! Degrassi has 26% usable energy remaining,
49:06Buemi has 30%.
49:08The two go side by side.
49:09Bang wheels.
49:10But Degrassi is having to save energy,
49:12save energy,
49:13just to get to the end of this E-Prix.
49:15And so Buemi can go a lot quicker,
49:17but at the moment can't find a way past.
49:19Oh, and look at Sam Bird!
49:21Late on the brakes,
49:22almost going into the back of the blue and yellow car
49:25of Sebastian Buemi.
49:27Degrassi hasn't used his fanbush yet, has he?
49:29I don't think he should.
49:30No.
49:31No, but if he's, you know,
49:33if he's in so much,
49:35if he's struggling too,
49:36he wouldn't use it.
49:37I think you have to use the first 50 anyway, right?
49:39Yeah, I think.
49:40Yeah, so.
49:41Yeah.
49:42Okay, here we go.
49:43Right.
49:44Three laps to go.
49:45Lap 31 of 33,
49:46here in London.
49:47He's close again.
49:48He's close.
49:49He's defending already.
49:50There's the attacking from front,
49:51and it is,
49:52Turvey and Verne going together.
49:53They just about keep it,
49:54all on the right lines.
49:55And now,
49:56Lemmy's got to be careful,
49:57because the more he attacks Degrassi,
49:59the more Sam Bird at his home E3
50:01will try and get feisty.
50:02Sam Bird,
50:03the only man in the history of Formula E
50:05to win his home race.
50:06Watch how quick Buemi is through this section,
50:08and this is when he gets close,
50:09and he starts making him defend.
50:11Defend again,
50:12and he's going to catch him out.
50:13If he keeps up,
50:14there's a good chance
50:15he will catch Lucas Degrassi out,
50:17and cause that one mistake,
50:18and that's all it's going to take,
50:19because he's, trust me,
50:20he's going to risk everything.
50:21Oh!
50:22Another defensive move there by Degrassi.
50:24Now, this is the place where
50:25Buemi has managed to get alongside
50:27for the last two laps in a row,
50:29but not been able to do anything about it,
50:31because he's on the outside line,
50:32coming into the chicane.
50:33On board we go,
50:34with Buemi,
50:35pulls to the outside again,
50:36and Degrassi's just going to hold it in,
50:38late in the day,
50:39take the apex,
50:40how close is Bird here?
50:42Pretty close I imagine.
50:43Watch him looking in the mirror,
50:44do you see that?
50:45That glance to the right,
50:46he's looking in the outside mirror.
50:47Is he going to make that slingshot?
50:48Here comes Bird at the inside,
50:50Sam Bird is through,
50:51he's up into some position,
50:52but the yellow flags are out,
50:54Turvey's in the wall,
50:55Oliver Turvey is into the wall,
50:57and that means Sam Bird overtook
50:59under yellow flags,
51:00surely he's going to give the position back.
51:02Buemi is gesticulating,
51:03Oliver Turvey is out of the E3.
51:06What a shame,
51:07it looked as though we were going to have a Brit on the podium,
51:09and is that going to bring out a virtual safety car?
51:12That could be the end of the race, potentially,
51:14and Bird is now moving over, is he?
51:16No!
51:17Come on, Sam.
51:18And Bird's all out of shape,
51:19is he going to keep it out of the wall,
51:20just about?
51:21And Buemi is going to be absolutely furious
51:23inside that cockpit.
51:24Rightly so.
51:25Rightly so, Sam.
51:26I mean, maybe Sam doesn't know there was a yellow,
51:27is Oliver Turvey.
51:28What a shame,
51:29such a great race he was having there.
51:30Really fantastic drive from Oliver Turvey,
51:32but it's ended now,
51:33and we're on the penultimate lap of the race.
51:36Two to go here in Battersea Park.
51:38This is the penultimate round of the season.
51:40If you've enjoyed this race,
51:41tune in tomorrow,
51:42because it'll be better.
51:44It's going to be wild though.
51:45That's the formulary guarantee.
51:47As they come now through the right-hander,
51:50and I'm surprised here, Bird,
51:52Bird must know,
51:54unless he was so focused over taking,
51:56his vision was blocked,
51:57and he didn't actually see the car there,
51:58because...
51:59You have energy at the control line.
52:01One more lap after this.
52:04At the end of this lap,
52:05you need 0.4 at the control line.
52:08Look how much quicker
52:10Buemi is on the power there.
52:12Problem is,
52:13there's going to be a yellow here again,
52:15so there's no,
52:16passing to the really important passing spot.
52:18But, you know,
52:19Sam's got to realise,
52:20Sam would have been looking right,
52:21the flags were on the left,
52:22but he would have seen the car parked on the wall.
52:23Yeah.
52:24But my point is,
52:25unless he was at the inside on the right,
52:26and Buemi's car was on the left,
52:28and, you know,
52:29that skewed the view of the car.
52:30I don't know.
52:31I don't know.
52:32But I'm still surprised the team haven't spotted it,
52:34or, you know,
52:35he clearly, to me,
52:36over took on the yellow flags,
52:37but that's something for the FIA to deal with.
52:38Nico Prost is leading this race on the final lap,
52:41but, I mean,
52:42we've hardly spoken about it in a call.
52:43Six seconds.
52:44And he's just driven a perfect race.
52:46Safety car, too.
52:47It was Buemi looking at another move on Sam Bird.
52:49Oh, Bird almost coming into the back of the grassy.
52:52Bird is in a feisty mood.
52:53He is.
52:54And he's very pumped up for this one.
52:58So frustrated after qualifying,
53:00and the way the rain happens,
53:02I bumped into him.
53:03I won't tell you where, but...
53:04Oh, look at Buemi through there.
53:05Yeah, so quick.
53:08Through the left-hander at turn eight.
53:10This is the final lap.
53:11This is how the championship positions would end.
53:14It would be a five-point margin for Lucas Degrassi
53:16going into the race tomorrow.
53:18But, meanwhile,
53:20it's Nico Prost who is leading this E3.
53:22We'll keep an eye out for him coming to take the checkered flag.
53:25Here he is now,
53:26coming down into the left-hander on the exit of the Lake Chicanes.
53:29But it's all about the battle between Bird,
53:32and, oh, is Bird going to be in front of Buemi?
53:34In front of Buemi he is just about.
53:36Degrassi holding on in front as well.
53:38We go on board with Buemi.
53:39Is Bird going to try a move here in that last lap?
53:41I think the yellow flags are still there.
53:42The yellow flags are still there.
53:44Yeah, he does. He's lifted. He's lifted.
53:45So Jean-Éric Verne backs off as well.
53:47We've got double-waved yellows down there for Turvey's car,
53:50and that means that through the final corner
53:52comes Nico Prost.
53:53He hasn't won in Formula E since Miami of season one,
53:57but now it's victory for Nico Prost
53:59and victory for Renault in Battersea.
54:01But who's going to come across the line
54:03in terms of the championship leaders?
54:05It is just going to be Lucas Degrassi
54:07to hold on to fourth place across the line.
54:09Fifth is Sam Bird. Sixth is Sebastian Buemi.
54:12And, no, sixth is Antonio Felix da Costa.
54:15So Bird dropped back. Bird dropped back on that last couple of laps.
54:20So Buemi does finish fifth.
54:22When did that happen?
54:24Correctness is restored. He's down to one percent.
54:26I can only imagine he had to back off.
54:28And look, the app team have just realized it as well.
54:30So Bird got out of it on the last lap,
54:33lost out positions to Buemi and to Da Costa,
54:36and he finishes in seventh place.
54:38So, let's have a look at it again.
54:40On board with Buemi.
54:42Out of the final corner.
54:44Last corner.
54:45And Bird...
54:46What happened?
54:47Oh, he hit him!
54:48Something happened. Something broke.
54:50Or he just had no power and had to back off
54:53to make it across the line with one percent left.
54:55This was on board with Bird.
54:56This was on board with Bird.
54:57Wow.
54:58Listen to the engine.
55:01Really tell from that, but...
55:02What happened there?
55:04Buemi is going to be furious with Sam Bird.
55:06Yeah.
55:07Well, you know, all's well that ends well, I suppose.
55:10Well...
55:11He will be furious with him,
55:12but the right result has occurred because...
55:15Yeah.
55:16You have to consider, though.
55:17There's a happy man.
55:18A deservedly happy man right there.
55:20Drove an epic race.
55:21He's had a challenging season with Nico Prost,
55:23and he's just driven an epic race.
55:25Well done.
55:26But, you know, Sam Bird not only made that pass under yellow,
55:29but then held him up and did that at the end.
55:32So, yeah, I think Buemi's going to have a little...
55:34little word.
55:36Here's a look at the results after a thrilling 33 laps
55:39in the penultimate round of the season,
55:41the Visa London E3.
55:42Nico Prost the winner for Renault E-Dams.
55:44Bruno Senna finishing second.
55:46His first-ever Formula E podium
55:48and the best-ever result for Mahindra.
55:50Third for Jean-Erik Fern and Degrassi fourth.
55:52Buemi fifth setting up the title,
55:54decided beautifully for tomorrow's final round ten.
55:58Further back, Starazan lost time in the pits,
56:00and we had a couple of retirements.
56:02Loads with our Robin Franks and Daniel out.
56:04Well, if you enjoyed that,
56:06do make sure you come back tomorrow,
56:08because, goodness me, is it going to be thrilling.
56:10The title wasn't even on the line today,
56:12and we still had a stunning race.
56:16Now the top three are going to stop here
56:18and go over to the podium in the E-Village,
56:20and it'll be Nico Prost on the top step.
56:22But we don't have a champion.
56:24The champion will be decided tomorrow.
56:27And that's good news for Degrassi,
56:29just edging out that little advantage.
56:31Interestingly enough, he's on board with Degrassi.
56:33Oh, this is what happened to Turvey.
56:35So he just locked up by himself.
56:37Was the yellow actually out then?
56:38Because they were right behind.
56:39Well, that's an interesting point.
56:41Bird and Buemi were right behind.
56:42So we're giving...
56:43Well, here we go.
56:44So there goes Bird.
56:45Now to me, he's in the wall.
56:48Now where's...
56:49There's the yellow.
56:50There's the yellow on the right.
56:51It just came out.
56:52I think we're sort of giving judge and jury to Sam Bird.
56:56I think that yellow came out when the move was actually done.
56:58Sorry, Sam.
56:59That's interesting.
57:00And that's what Will Laken has said as well,
57:02using the hashtag company free.
57:03He says,
57:04he reckons you overtook him before the yellow flag was there.
57:06Will and I are in agreement there.
57:07Sorry, Sam.
57:08I think...
57:09But I don't think Buemi's going to have a word.
57:11Absolutely.
57:12But that...
57:13Astonishingly,
57:14Lucas Degrassi has extended his championship league,
57:16but it's the first time this season,
57:18in any race,
57:19we won't see him on the podium.
57:20Is that right?
57:21Yeah.
57:22He's been on the podium at every single race.
57:24Okay, he was disqualified in Mexico,
57:26but he still stood on the top step
57:28and partied like it was, you know...
57:31I loved that one, didn't he?
57:32A couple of years ago.
57:33Yeah, exactly.
57:34So...
57:35Oi, oi, oi.
57:37Crikey.
57:38I'm going for a nap.
57:39I tell you what.
57:40We've got to do it all again tomorrow here in Battersea Park.
57:43If this was your first experience of Formula E,
57:45I hope you enjoyed it.
57:46It's been a fantastic season.
57:48Make sure you join us again tomorrow,
57:50but we've still got reaction,
57:52podium presentations to come,
57:54and...
57:55Oh, the cars are actually driving through to the E-Village.
57:57That's cool.
57:58So...
57:59And he's got no idea what all the fuss is about.
58:01He hasn't seen any of these.
58:02He's driven around the park all day,
58:03like, and destroyed the field.
58:04All by himself.
58:05All by himself.
58:06All by himself.
58:07Destroyed the field as in the other cars.
58:09Yeah, just...
58:10Not in an anti-eco...
58:11No, no, no, no.
58:12As in the field of competition.
58:14Exactly.
58:15But...
58:16That is crucial for the team's championship,
58:18but as far as the drivers' championship is concerned,
58:21Lucas Di Grassi has 153 points,
58:23Sebastian Buemi on 150 points,
58:25so just three points in it now.
58:27Nico Prost has moved up into third place past Sam Bird.
58:30So, Guemi second, Prost third.
58:32That does the team's title for Renault the world of good.
58:36We'll look back at that in a couple of moments' time.
58:38Sam Bird dropping down to fourth then.
58:40Jerome D'Ambrosio fifth for Dragon.
58:42Oliver Turvey almost picking up some points.
58:45Mike Conway picked up a point as well,
58:47finishing 15th in the standings at the moment,
58:49but he finished 10th on the track.
58:53As far as the teams are concerned,
58:55Renault are now 37 points ahead.
58:5937 points ahead,
59:00and there's 48 points available tomorrow.
59:03So, kind of,
59:04done a really good job of approaching,
59:06wrapping it up tomorrow.
59:07I'm not going to speak too soon,
59:08because anything can happen in Formula E,
59:10and it's a little bit bonkers,
59:11as we've just seen over the last hour.
59:13Just a bit.
59:14But still, strong performance from Renault,
59:16and they've given themselves a great advantage tomorrow.
