00:00Anybody that wants to ask a question, please.
00:02Yes, ma'am.
00:03Thank you for the question.
00:04Some members have said that this assassination attempt a year ago kind of shone light on issues with lawmakers' safety
00:10and have called for more protection for members of Congress as well as for the president.
00:14Do you think that there's anything that needs to be done in the immediate future on this,
00:18and does that include more funding for micro-security or anything else like that?
00:22Yeah, I think probably all of the above, but I don't care how much funding we put into it.
00:26I don't care how much protection we have.
00:28There's always going to be a danger.
00:31I don't know if any other members want to speak on this, but I don't see that the resolution â
00:35it is what we feel in our hearts and what we think needs to be said.
00:40And I wish that an overwhelming vote in favor of that resolution would solve the problem.
00:47I would hope that it goes deeper than that and it strikes a chord with people.
00:54So I don't know how much we could fund it.
00:56Yes, come on.
00:57Yeah, I think it has become an extremely serious issue.
01:02I've been swatted dozens of times.
01:04My family has been swatted many times themselves individually.
01:08I hold some of the highest amount of death threats of members of Congress and there was a man working in the Voices of America just arrested and will be prosecuted by the Department of Justice for making death threats to me through the studio and Voices of America.
01:28And that's just another one on top of countless others.
01:32The Capitol Police don't have enough resources and all of my colleagues here can tell you all of their personal stories of death threats they've dealt with.
01:41And I think we do need protection and we don't have any.
01:47And that's something difficult.
01:49Many of us have to pay for it ourself or pay for it through our campaigns and it needs to stop.
01:58And I've had there's multiple people that have been convicted and served time in prison for planning guilty to planning to kill me.
02:05But I'm just one of 435 that and it happens to all of us.
