When you download the free AccuWeather app, you'll receive fast notifications about all kinds of weather threats, including thunderstorms, tornadoes, flash flooding and even heat waves.
00:00It's been a lot of severe weather across the country including flash flooding in many locations and people are asking the question what can you do to stay safer and the AccuWeather app, the free AccuWeather app has many tools that you can use to make the best decisions as it relates to severe weather.
00:22I'm going to show you some of those tools here on our app segment today and when you go load the AccuWeather app, we're going to go down to Richmond, Virginia today but you can of course tap in the top there and go to any location around the country or around the world.
00:35This is the main dashboard and any warnings that are in effect, watches, warnings or advisories are going to be located up on the top.
00:42Now I'm using the AccuWeather Premium Plus version so I've upgraded this particular version of the app to the Premium Plus experience so I get AccuWeather alerts which are additional alerts that complement and extend the value of government warnings that we provide for free in the AccuWeather app and you can see those government alerts located here.
01:02That's a flood watch and when you tap on that you'll get more details including the full text of the warning, when it starts, when it ends and to the right a map that allows you to see the watch warning or advisory area.
01:15Now another very important aspect is push notifications and I want to go back over to the front screen here, the main screen of the AccuWeather app to show you how to activate those.
01:24And to the left of AccuWeather with that menu, tap on that and you go down to settings and then manage notifications.
01:32And when you tap on manage notifications, look at this government alerts.
01:36You want to make sure those are turned on and you want to make sure that those are turned on for your current location and any other locations that you care about to get those warnings pushed to your phone for free.
