Receiving alert notifications on the free AccuWeather app

It's important to stay safe and stay aware of severe weather threats. With the free AccuWeather app, you'll receive alert notifications from AccuWeather and the National Weather Service.

00:00There have been so many flash flood tragedies here across the country in recent days.

00:09We've got many tools to help you be best prepared for severe weather here on the free AccuWeather app.

00:13I want to show some of those today.

00:15Of course, when you download the free AccuWeather app, this is the main dashboard.

00:19AccuWeather's forecast with proven superior accuracy, hourly forecast, day-by-day forecast, radar and maps,

00:25other tools at the bottom of the screen, government and other warnings are always located up on the top

00:31if they're in effect for your specific location.

00:34And you could tap there.

00:35In this case, you could see capabilities from AccuWeather alerts on the top

00:39and then the government flood watch that's in effect in this particular location at this time.

00:44You could tap on that and you get all the details of that watch, warning, or advisory

00:49and then an interactive map on the right-hand side of the screen so you could see the area that's affected.

00:54You also can go into the maps capability and when we do that, you have the ability to zoom in

01:01and look all around the country at various types of watches, warnings, and advisories that are in effect.

01:06Another very important tool is the push notifications and you can access those

01:10by tapping in the upper left-hand corner of the screen, going down into settings

01:14and manage notifications right here and government alerts.

01:20Make sure those are turned on and you can turn those on for your current location

01:23or any other location that you care about.

01:26That could be where other family members live.

01:28Maybe your kids are going to school.

01:30You could tap on those locations and add them to receive those warnings there.

01:34Another free resource from AccuWeather, we make those warnings available faster on average

01:39than any other source.

01:41Having those warnings can save your life.
