Romaine Mundle happy to begin Sunderland pre-season with win

00:00Sunderland winger Romain Mundell has said that he was happy to begin the Black Cats pre-season

00:05campaign with a win over local side South Shields on Saturday afternoon.

00:11Yeah, it was a good 45 to be back out there. Obviously, game fitness and just starting strong.

00:17Starting how we mean to go on.

00:19How's the last few weeks been? Getting back in the building, back with the lads, new additions as well?

00:24Yeah, it's always nice returning from obviously going away and coming back and seeing the lads.

00:28And obviously new faces as well, so I think we're all coming together as well, getting more bonded with the new lads.

00:35And just, yeah, I think we're all well.

00:37You and Habib look like you had a bit of a connection out there.

00:40Yeah. No, Habib is a very, very, very good player.

00:44So just the more you understand the way we want to play and stuff like that, I'm sure he'll do well at Sunday.

00:49I know, as you just said, it means we want to go on and we want to carry on with this positive momentum.

00:54As we head to Portugal this week and will that just be a case of more minutes in the legs, as you said, the group continue to bond?

01:02I mean, yeah, obviously the main objective is to get fitness from these games, but obviously we want to win every game.

01:06So we're going to go into every game that we want to win. I mean, that's what we've done here.

01:09So when we go away to Portugal, we're going to train and obviously look to win.

01:14And one of Sunderland's new signings, Simon Odinger, who recently joined from Brighton and Hove Albion,

01:20has revealed that he spoke to former Sunderland loanee Ahmad Diallo before joining the club.

01:26Both Diallo and Odinger hail from the Ivory Coast.

01:29When you say Simon Odinger, it's more about dribbling and speed. Yeah. Scoring goals, assists.

01:41One Ivoryan who's also been here at the club in the past is Ahmad.

01:47I'm sure you've had plenty of conversations with him about Sunderland.

01:49Yeah. Yeah, I know him very well in the national team.

01:53Yeah, I spoke to him and yeah, he spoke very well about this club.

01:58He told me how big this club is. And yeah.

02:02Any other people you know within the squad or is it just a case of getting to know all your new teammates?

02:08Yeah, I think I'm getting to know their new teammates.
