00:00Red Sox contenders, according to Jeff Passan, Crochet, I'm sorry, Chapman, going nowhere,
00:06Bregman, going nowhere, Red Sox will be buyers, they're contenders, and in the words of Boston
00:13Connor, suck it.
00:14Yeah, go ahead.
00:15I mean...
00:16Go ahead.
00:17Tell Passan to get in line, by the way.
00:19Suck it!
00:20We were already on this.
00:22Good point.
00:22We were talking World Series contenders way before Passan was.
00:25The idea that, and this came from your guy, Ralph Keith, which really, you should stop
00:29listening to him, I don't know why you even went there, but your guy, Jim Bowden, said,
00:34oh yeah, if they can't work out an extension, the Red Sox might trade Bregman, which was
00:38nonsense at the time.
00:39And he named like three teams that I think are all below them in the standings, like,
00:42I don't think they're going to trade Bregman to the Mariners.
00:45No.
00:45That's what he was saying.
00:46And Chapman, when the Red Sox were below .500 and losing six games in a row, or whatever
00:51it was, and getting bombarded by the Angels a week or two ago, or two weeks ago, whatever
00:56it was, I was like, yeah, they might wind up selling Chapman if they fall out of it.
01:01Yeah.
01:01You get a lot for them, but no, you're good.
01:03No.
01:03So those guys are going nowhere.
01:05They're going to be buying, and they are contenders.
01:07I agree with all of it.
01:07Yeah.
01:07I mean, the question is going to come down to, you know, how big of a buy does it end
01:12up being?
01:13Like, what are they willing to part with?
01:14What are they, how aggressive will Breslow be?
01:18I think it's fair to say the most aggressive Breslow has been in his tenure here was probably
01:23acquiring Garrett Crochet.
01:24A hundred percent, and Kyle Teal's a top, top prospect.
01:28He was, he was originally in their big three before Campbell made it a big four.
01:31Now it's back to a big three again, but he was willing to trade him in the off season
01:35and got a massive return.
01:37Although Crochet, despite never having pitched, you know, close to 200 innings or anything,
01:41he was viewed as almost like a lock.
01:44Like when they got him, he was a top three, five and a Cy Young candidate for, for this
01:49year.
01:54The time that he has spoke, I feel pretty confident though, that he's not just going
01:58to lean back on the, any additions, a good addition.
02:00You know, he sort of mapped out the players that they have, who's pitched well, you know,
02:05what they can rely on, but they need an impact arm.
02:08So how many impact arms are even available?
02:10How many impact arms are even going to be on the move is another question.
02:13Okay.
02:13So NBC sports, Boston had a quick list of 10 impact starters.
02:17Let's hear it.
02:17Oh, you're putting quotes up.
02:19You tell me, you tell me if these guys are an impact starter or not.
02:22We'll just tick through their list.
02:23Cause I, it's shortened to the point.
02:25All right.
02:25Joe Ryan impact starter.
02:27Yes.
02:28Did you see crochet and Bregman are like full on recruiting him at the all-star game?
02:32Did you see this?
02:32So Bradford, Bradford's there.
02:34Brad was loose with Joe Ryan.
02:36Brad fo was hounded him right in his face.
02:38A good one-on-one with Joe Ryan.
02:39You'll hear Brad full on Thursday at 1130.
02:42He joins us every week.
02:43You can check him out.
02:43Baseball isn't boring for a sit down with Joe Ryan by a turp.
02:47That is Alex Bregman on Instagram.
02:49It is Bregman in his all-star uniform with crochet and Joe Ryan who wants out of Minnesota.
02:56Yeah.
02:57So there you go.
02:58That is a, that's one impact arm.
03:00Dylan cease.
03:01That's a tough one.
03:02If you asked me this a year ago, I would have said impact arm.
03:05So maybe, yeah, I would, maybe yes.
03:06I would still lean.
03:07Yes.
03:07But it's, I, it's not a slam dunk.
03:09Ryan's a slam dunk.
03:10I would lean.
03:11Yes.
03:11Though Mitch, Mitch Keller.
03:14Yes.
03:14Yes.
03:15Yes.
03:15I was.
03:16What are his numbers?
03:16I was a no on that one.
03:17I don't know.
03:18He's Mitch Keller.
03:18Oh, you don't like Mitch Keller?
03:20348 ERA over 20 starts, 114 whip.
03:22That's pretty good.
03:23Good.
03:24Mitch Keller?
03:25Impact arm?
03:26Impact arm.
03:27Impact arm is you hit the, the Red Sox trade for him and you, you have to pull over and go,
03:31wow, I can't believe that just happened.
03:32Mitch Keller was an all-star two years ago.
03:34That'd be breaking news, Sounder.
03:35Mitch Keller.
03:36It's Mitch Keller.
03:37Mitch Keller is impact starter.
03:39Here he comes.
03:41Now he doesn't have a nickname, so we can work on that.
03:43That's no problem.
03:44We can give him a nickname when he gets here.
03:45Oh yeah.
03:45We could definitely do that.
03:46More like pitch Keller.
03:48Am I right?
03:49Ugh.
03:50So he's, no, but a 348 ERA and he's got, oh, he's not a big K guy.
03:54No.
03:54All right.
03:56You want to take it back?
03:57Yeah.
03:57Okay.
03:58Yeah.
03:58Taking it back.
03:58Freddie Peralta.
04:00No.
04:00I like him.
04:01I wouldn't call him an impact arm.
04:02Like I would, I would like for the Red Sox to trade for him.
04:04What's Freddie P up to?
04:05I would aim higher than that.
04:06Oh, he's at the all-star game right now.
04:07Yeah.
04:07He was there last night at the Homer and Derby.
04:092-6-6 ERA for the Brewers.
04:11Yeah.
04:11All right.
04:12This year, impact arm.
04:13I'll change it.
04:14You'll revise that up to impact arm.
04:15That one would be.
04:15Okay.
04:16Give me that one.
04:16How about Edward Cabrera?
04:17Fan.
04:18I'm a fan of his.
04:20So would you call him an impact arm or you're just a fan?
04:21I would, I would call him an impact arm.
04:23Yeah.
04:23Yeah.
04:24And maybe this is inconsistent with Peralta.
04:25I just know Peralta in the past has like walked a million guys.
04:28Yeah.
04:28Yeah.
04:28I don't know that I love the rollercoaster ride with Peralta.
04:31Just over a K per nine, 3-6-1 ERA talking about Cabrera.
04:35So, okay.
04:37Yeah.
04:37I think all these guys would be not the way Baio's pitching.
04:41They wouldn't be better than Baio with the exception of Joe Ryan.
04:43Everybody else though would be better than Giolito.
04:46So I think everybody, you would, you would make this, whoever, all the names you've mentioned
04:49would probably be their third starter.
04:50Here's a good name.
04:50I heard baseball Brett mentioned it today.
04:52I don't know why the Rangers would trade him, but I'd love it.
04:54Nathan Evaldi.
04:55Yeah.
04:55Okay.
04:56I know it is weird.
04:57It's sort of like, you know, we make fun of like the Patriots when they always like
05:00bring back old guys and stuff.
05:01Who would you rather have?
05:02Evaldi or Ryan?
05:04Um, Joe Ryan.
05:06I think I'd want Evaldi.
05:07I mean, he got his nails.
05:08He's having a good year.
05:10He's awesome in the postseason.
05:11I know he works here.
05:12He's lights out this year.
05:13Like, I think I would, out of those two, if he's really available, I'd rather him.
05:17And I bet he'd cost less.
05:18Uh, yeah, but Joe Ryan to me is for this year and beyond.
05:21So he helps you win maybe, uh, as much as you could possibly win this year.
05:26And then now I have crochet Ryan for the next handful of years.
05:29Whereas if you're like, Hey, you have Evaldi next year.
05:31Okay.
05:31It's more of a, they both have term, but it's more of an all in move.
05:34Yeah.
05:34Yeah.
05:34Yeah.
05:35Uh, let's breeze through these next ones.
05:36Chris Bubich.
05:37You like him?
05:38Bubich?
05:38Yeah.
05:39I got to check the stats on Bubich.
05:41I would say no.
05:41I think we're starting to get into the 248, 116.
05:45He's an all-star.
05:46Okay.
05:47All right.
05:47Seth Lugo, also from Kansas city.
05:49And then two D-backs pitchers.
05:51They wanted Seth Lugo a year ago and he was awesome a year ago.
05:55Uh, two D-backs pitchers, Merrill Kelly and Zach Gallon.
06:00So I think all these guys would help.
06:02Honestly, all those guys are pretty good.
06:03That's, that's a little bit deeper than I thought it would be at this time of year.
06:07Uh, and, and a lot of those guys are on bad teams.
06:09So a lot of those guys I think would definitely, if the price is right.
06:13But it's also, you didn't mention a single Padre.
06:17Nope.
06:17And now, well, Cease, yes.
06:18Oh, sorry.
06:19You mentioned Dylan Cease.
06:20But like, all right.
06:20So just leave it there for a second.
06:22I wouldn't trade Duran for Dylan Cease.
06:24Me neither.
06:24And I think most people wouldn't.
06:25Hopefully, Breslow doesn't.
06:26The rest of those names on there, those teams might not even want Duran.
06:29So now you're talking about minor leaguers.
06:31I wouldn't trade Duran for anybody on that list.
06:32Now, we wavered last week.
06:34Yeah, Ryan was a tough one.
06:35I would rather get Chris Bubich.
06:38I would rather get Mitch Keller.
06:40Yeah.
06:40And give up prospects than trade Duran for a guy like Joe Ryan.
06:44Yeah.
06:44Lugo's good again this year.
06:46I didn't realize.
06:46If that's what it takes to get Joe Ryan, I'm not giving up Duran.
06:48And I would just go to the next notch down, whether that's Evaldi, whether that's Lugo,
06:53whoever that, I'd rather another name on that list and keep Duran than give up Duran and get Joe Ryan.
06:59Yeah.
07:00And I don't think it's even going to take Duran to get Joe Ryan.
07:02It costs you less to get Garrett Crochet.
07:05617-779-7937.
07:09Jeff Passan says the Red Sox are contenders.
07:11He says they will be buyers.
07:13Bregman going nowhere.
07:14Chapman going nowhere.
07:16The question is, do you trust Craig Breslow to get this done over the next week plus leading up to the trade deadline?
07:21Or really two weeks leading up to the trade deadline.
