Raichur (Karnataka) — A shocking incident was reported from Raichur district on Saturday, where a woman allegedly tried to kill her husband by pushing him into the Krishna River while taking a selfie.

The husband, identified as Tatappa, managed to swim to a rock and cling to it, shouting for help. Locals heard his screams and rescued him using a rope. The incident occurred on a bridge over the Krishna River at Kadlur village, which borders Telangana’s Narayanpet district.

According to eyewitnesses, the wife asked Tatappa to take a selfie on the bridge. As they posed, she allegedly pushed him into the river. When villagers questioned him after the rescue, Tatappa told them, “I didn’t jump — my wife pushed me.”

A video of the rescue, now viral on social media, shows Tatappa holding onto a rope and being pulled ashore by 3–4 men.

While Tatappa claimed his wife intentionally pushed him due to ongoing marital disputes, the wife said it was an accident. The couple, who married in April 2025, have reportedly been in conflict since soon after their wedding.

Locals intervened, calmed them down, and called their parents. Both were eventually taken back home.
