00:00Hello there my dear friends and welcome back to another Star Wars video. It is I coming at you
00:16once again your favorite galactic hostess, the one, the only, Star Wars Meg. And today we are
00:22returning to the Star Wars rumor mill. It feels like it's never ending, but today we have a very
00:28important update. So do you guys remember a couple of days ago, there was a rumor circulating that
00:32Kenobi season 2 might be in the works, and Star Wars fans were confused. We were thinking, well,
00:38after round all season 2 we've only got Ahsoka season 2 left, when you're talking about remaining
00:43Disney Plus shows. So it's a bit surprising to see that Lucasfilm might be returning to Kenobi,
00:48of all shows, the miniseries. And the reason this really didn't sit right with me and it didn't
00:52really make any sense, is because Lucasfilm is going back to the big screen. One of the main reasons
00:57being that the Disney Plus shows, even though there were some great ones, were just not profitable
01:02enough for Disney, with increasingly lower returns on investment, whether you're talking about the
01:06Acolyte, Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew, and even Andor season 2, which was fantastic, but had a gargantuan
01:13budget. So why would they want to return to the miniseries, who to many fans was very disappointing.
01:19You know, Kathleen Kennedy came out and said, this is going to be the rematch of the century.
01:23It was originally going to be a movie trilogy containing Commander Cody, it was generally
01:28going to feel more George Lucas-esque, if you're talking about what we know of Stuart Beatty's
01:32script. It was more true to a natural progression of what Obi-Wan was up to after Avenger the Sith,
01:37mostly staying put on Tatooine. So different to the Leia and Reva focused, Deborah Chow and
01:42Joby Harold version. Protecting Luke, not leaving Tatooine, to ensure the rise of the new hope,
01:49can happen in episode 4. And so here we are in 2025, the return to Star Wars movies, and this is
01:55something Kathy alluded to, is an attempt to steer the franchise back on course. So with such a firm
02:00change of priorities, of all Star Wars shows, why would they return to Kenobi? Despite all logic,
02:06the source for the rumour, Daniel RPK, said, no no no, it's happening. But now my friends, a more
02:11reliable insider has chimed in, Jeff Snyder, who promised a couple of days ago he'd address the
02:16rumour in his newsletter, and he finally just did. And it's exactly what you expect. Now when it comes
02:22to Jeff Snyder, he's proven time and again he has reliable sources. Now granted he has made a couple
02:28of mistakes in the past, and Daniel Richmond certainly has gotten a couple of things right,
02:32but overall Jeff Snyder is someone to trust. He was the first person last year to tell us there's
02:36going to be a Mandalorian movie. That was before the Mandalorian in Grogu was ever announced.
02:41And so now my friends, he has two pieces of so-called bad news. The first, concerns the rumours
02:46about the Indiana Jones reboot. He thinks that while it's inevitable, the rumour that they're
02:51going to do anything soon is bogus. And the second report he debunks is the one concerning Kenobi
02:56Season 2. So check this out. Jeff Snyder says, I don't know if this will make you happy or break
03:02your heart, but no, there isn't an Indiana Jones reboot in the works. Nor is the company working on
03:08Season 2 of Obi-Wan. I know that Ewan McGregor was hopeful he'd get to don the robes again, but
03:13insiders say that despite rumours, there are no plans for a second season of the show. When it comes
03:18to the galaxy far, far away, Lucasfilm has bigger fish to fry. And like I said, at the moment, that
03:24is Ahsoka Season 2, where Ewan McGregor definitely can appear again, and the upcoming movies, but no
03:30Kenobi Season 2. That being said, my friends, with Lucasfilm there is very little transparency.
03:35Sometimes announcements, confirmations of projects, big updates, casting announcements come out of the
03:41blue. At the moment, it's a he said, she said situation. I'm inclined to believe Jeff Snyder on
03:46this, but you never know. Kathy and Kennedy flip-flops and changes her mind all of the time.
03:52There is nothing set in stone either way. But there have been rumours since Kenobi Season 1 came to
03:56an end, and like I said from reliable sources, that Lucasfilm does want to do more with Obi-Wan.
04:01From a business standpoint, that makes sense. Whether that becomes a movie trilogy, or a big screen
04:06sequel to the first season, whatever they decide to do, we will get more of him. But is it going to be
04:11Kenobi Season 2, another iteration and instalment of the same thing? I very much doubt that.
04:17But in other big Star Wars news, Daniel Richman has yet another update to share. He thinks that on top
04:23of the Rey movie, and the Simon Kinberg trilogy, there is going to be another sequel film. This one is
04:29apparently a spin-off of a known side character, and immediately I'm doubtful of this. And the reason I smell
04:34BS is he can't name the character this film is going to be about. That is extremely sus. So, let me get
04:41this straight. He's been told there's going to be another sequel film. It's not about Rey, it's about
04:46another character from those films. But he can't name which. With all due respect, and like I say,
04:51he's gotten many things right, the reason I don't believe this rumour is because I think he's just
04:56making an educated guess, based on a little bit of this, a little bit of that, various things we've heard
05:01over the last few months, and creating a very vague scoop. It's fan guesstimation. He knows
05:07there have been talks about a Finn project, there have been rumours about a Kylo Ren project,
05:11and if either of those turn out to be true, by way of not being specific, this ends up looking
05:15like a legit scoop. When all he did was bank on a good guess. So no, I don't believe this for one
05:21second. Whether they're making a Finn project, whether they're going to do The Rise of Kylo Ren,
05:26this rumour that he's heard about something is probably nonsense. And I would urge you to take this
05:30with a huge grain of salt. But if you want a legit Star Wars movie update, look no further than and
05:36or genius Tony Gilroy. He recently revealed he's heard some very good things about the upcoming
05:41state. In particular, the James Mangold Dawn of the Jedi movie. I covered the first details of the
05:46film the other day. It's probably titled Star Wars Jedi Prime. It's the next one to go into production
05:51after Star Wars Starfighter, and there was recently a massive clue for it in the brand new galactic map.
05:56But now Tony Gilroy had something to say about it, as well as a few other Star Wars projects.
06:01On Dawn of the Jedi, he says, quote,
06:03It's interesting because it has freedom. It can explore so much, given how far back in the timeline
06:08it set. 25,000 years ago. The only character who might be familiar during that time is Hu Yang.
06:14But it's also fascinating Tony Gilroy's the one who said this, because Andor had some easter eggs
06:19going back to the Rakartans. So it's good to hear that Tony Gilroy, such an amazing writer and director,
06:24is in the know about these things. And one of the reasons I think James Mangold's movie is going
06:28to happen, and isn't just going to be shelved, is because of the people working on it. Bo Willimon
06:33already worked on Andor, and James Mangold, or Jim, as he's also known, worked on Indiana Jones,
06:39and is good friends with Kathleen Kennedy. And so for Jedi Prime, it's both exciting, but terrifying.
06:45On the subject of other Star Wars projects, as you probably know by now, Tony Gilroy's a big fan
06:50of Skeleton Crew. And talking to Empire Magazine, he says, quote,
06:54I watched some of it, and I thought it was really, really cool. I love how committed it is to its tone,
06:59and it seems really well done. Tonally very different to our show, he's talking about Andor,
07:04but just as awesome. And what I find so great about this, is you can never imagine Tony Gilroy
07:09writing a show like Skeleton Crew. Something so amblin', something so light-hearted,
07:14unserious, for the most part, no politics, and just generally a fun ride. Something for the
07:20entire family to enjoy. The polar opposite of the political drama Andor, which was fantastic,
07:26but so different in terms of writing style, character archetypes, dialogue, cinematography,
07:31but both can exist in the Star Wars universe. And it really is a testament to how much of an
07:36open-minded creator he is. That he's not putting the show down, that he's not comparing it to his own
07:40and saying mine was better, our show was superior, despite not being the biggest Star Wars fan,
07:45he respects the universe. I've said it before, but these days, Star Wars can be so many different
07:50things. But with that said, my dear friends, share your thoughts on all of today's news in the
07:54comments down below. Do you want to see an Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2? Why so? Or why not? And if you
08:00enjoyed this one, please be sure to give me a big fat thumbs up, subscribe if you're new,
