00:00Hello my dear friends, and welcome back to another Star Wars video.
00:04It is I, coming at you once again, your favourite galactic hostess, Star Wars Meg.
00:08And today, we're going to take a break from the Star Wars rumour mill,
00:12and instead, we're going to be returning to the Star Wars Galactic Map.
00:16The updated, canon map of the entire Star Wars galaxy.
00:21I covered some of the details from this the other day.
00:23We spoke about connections to Skeleton Crew, Andor, The Bad Batch, The Mandalorian,
00:28and over the last couple of days, there have been some fan complaints about it,
00:32because they've omitted most of the planets from the Acolyte.
00:35I was on Twitter and I saw some fans say,
00:38well this is outrageous, this is more proof that Disney is like,
00:41completely ridding themselves of that show.
00:43And you hear this from Acolyte fans who want a season too.
00:46They think omission of Acolyte planets was deliberate, but it really isn't.
00:50The map was made before the Acolyte released, and when Skeleton Crew was in post-production,
00:55which is why we have the planet of Atatin, but none of the others.
00:58from that show, and pretty much nothing from the Acolyte.
01:02But I've been analysing this map in quite some depth.
01:05You might say I've been a bit too obsessive over it,
01:07and I've been imagining different routes, different battles and conflicts in certain regions,
01:12and I guess I've been a bit mind blown,
01:14with the proximity of certain worlds who think have nothing in common,
01:17very important events taking place very close to each other,
01:20and on the other hand, how some planets which had some interactions,
01:23for better or for worse, were actually very far away from each other.
01:26I'll give you the best example of this.
01:29If you take a look at the top left section of the Unknown Regions,
01:32we see Ilum, Starkiller Base.
01:35Now remember how in The Force Awakens, the First Order destroys Hosnian Prime?
01:39Well do you realise just how far away Hosnian Prime really is?
01:43It's all the way down here my friends, on the bottom right of the core.
01:47So let me get this straight, Starkiller Base fired its shots through sub-hyperspace
01:52from halfway across the galaxy. That is an insane distance.
01:56So like I say, I've been thinking about some of these things,
01:58but what I really wanted to talk about in this video my friends,
02:01is something else I discovered in the Unknown Regions.
02:05Lucasfilm may have just teased the upcoming Dawn of the Jedi movie by James Mangold,
02:09because check this out, on the map right next to Arcto,
02:12the birthplace of the Jedi Order, is the home of the Rakatans, Rakata Prime.
02:18If you're familiar with the Infinite Empire from the Expanded Universe,
02:21then you know how significant this is.
02:24If you don't, don't worry my friends, that's the reason I'm here, I'll explain everything.
02:28But the overarching question is this,
02:31with Beau Willimon and James Mangold already working on the script,
02:34does Lucasfilm already know the incorporating aspects of Star Wars Legends into the film?
02:38This is the one that goes into production after Star Wars Starfighter.
02:42I know that's not saying very much given the state of Star Wars movies at the moment,
02:46constant cancellations and projects being shelved,
02:49but this is one of those I think will actually come to fruition.
02:52And given the model they're going for with the Mandalorian and Grogu in 2026,
02:57Star Wars Starfighter in 2027,
02:59this one could be the third one up,
03:01maybe in 2028,
03:03but definitely before the Rey movie.
03:05But look, going back to Dawn of the Jedi,
03:07this is the one set 25,000 years before the Skywalker Saga.
03:12So in a way, there's a lot of pressure on it.
03:14It's one of those movies they have to get right,
03:16if they're going to explore the origins of the Jedi,
03:19the Ashla, the Bogan,
03:20the lights, the dark,
03:22what it took to form the Jedi Order,
03:24the galactic conflicts going on at the time,
03:26and how the Jedi formed out of the Jedi Order,
03:28their predecessors,
03:30who were hunted down by Force Hounds,
03:32Inquisitors sent by the Rakatans.
03:33But this is where things get even crazier.
03:37The Jedi tried to right the wrongs of the Jedi,
03:40because they misunderstood Force Balance.
03:42Because a lot of this info is legends,
03:44and we don't know how much they're going to draw from it,
03:46in modern canon terms,
03:48the Jedi were more like the Bendu,
03:49trying to walk a middle path embracing both light and dark.
03:53But this spelled disaster for them,
03:54and even started a civil war,
03:56between those who turned fully to the dark,
03:58and those who remained in the light.
04:00Trying to walk a tightrope between the two,
04:02at least according to George Lucas,
04:04is impossible.
04:05And that's where the Jedi differed.
04:07They realized the Jedi were mistaken.
04:09You can't be somewhere in the middle.
04:11The light itself is the balance.
04:13Balance isn't light and dark,
04:15because the darkness always tempts you into it.
04:18There is no true middle path.
04:20But regardless of how they do it,
04:22they have to make this movie count.
04:24This is the origin story of everything Force-related that we know.
04:27The first Jedi who was called Jedi Prime,
04:30and apparently according to rumors from 2024,
04:32that is going to be the name of the movie.
04:34Everyone calls it Dawn of the Jedi because that's the time period,
04:37but the rumors going round,
04:38say it's going to revolve around this first Jedi who was called Jedi Prime,
04:42and that's the name of the movie.
04:43We don't know anything about him,
04:45but what we do know thanks to the last Jedi visual guide,
04:48is he founded the Jedi Order on Arcto,
04:50the islands that Luke exiled himself to,
04:53which housed the sacred Jedi texts.
04:54Something I do want to clarify, though,
04:56is that in Disney Star Wars canon,
04:59there is some dispute about the true location of the first Jedi temple.
05:03Some argue it's Tython,
05:05some say Osas,
05:06some say Jedha,
05:07Coruscant,
05:08but, you know,
05:09it's pretty well documented the birthplace of the Jedi Order was indeed Arcto,
05:14and that's where I would expect the bulk of the movie to take place.
05:17And like I said,
05:19right next to it is the Rakatan Empire's home planet.
05:22They've gone with the name Rakata Prime,
05:24some simply refer to it as Rakata,
05:27and others know it as Lihon,
05:29but regardless of the name you want to use,
05:31it is very significant.
05:32So, as of late,
05:34Disney Star Wars canon has made several allusions to the Rakatans,
05:37but we have yet to see them on screen.
05:39I think that's where Dawn of the Jedi comes in,
05:42because they've placed them right next to Arcto.
05:44Let me just give you a quick overview, my friends,
05:46and how it might connect to the James Mangold movie.
05:49I'm just going to cut to it right to the meat and potatoes,
05:51and we begin approximately 36,000 years before the Battle of Yavin,
05:5611,000 years before the start of the movie.
05:59Sounds like a lot,
06:00but there was a lot that happened,
06:01and I just want to skim over some important events.
06:03Once upon a time on Dathomir,
06:06that's right,
06:07we begin on a very familiar planet,
06:09but there was an unfamiliar species known as the Kwa,
06:12powerful, force-sensitive reptilians.
06:15And one day,
06:16they travel to the planet of Lihon,
06:18the homeworld of the Rakatans.
06:20They travel there via what they call the Infinity Gate,
06:23an advanced piece of technology that allowed them to travel across the galaxy.
06:27And as they'd done on many worlds before,
06:29the Kwa became Rakata's benefactors.
06:31They taught them about the force,
06:33and passed on the aforementioned technology.
06:34But the Kwa then discovered something very disturbing about the Rakatans.
06:39They're a cannibalistic race,
06:41that ignored the Kwa's teachings of balance,
06:43and drew only from the dark side of the force.
06:46So pairing their inner aggression and desire for conquest with Kwa technology,
06:50the Rakatans became invincible.
06:52They expanded out from Rakata Prime,
06:54and began conquering other worlds in the Unknown Regions.
06:57Soon enough,
06:58they became the Rakatan invaders,
07:00and this transformed into the Infinite Empire.
07:03They targeted worlds rich in the force,
07:06and they further instaved entire populations.
07:08Using the Kwa's wisdom,
07:10they developed even more advanced dark side technology,
07:13including the ability to induce fear and hatred into other force sensitives.
07:18This was a full-blown terrifying empire,
07:20and I think one of the craziest things they ever did,
07:23was converting the dark side emotions of their slaves,
07:26and using the energy to fuel their warships.
07:28These guys had no compassion,
07:30zero humanity.
07:31They were pure darkness,
07:33and even killed off the Kwa,
07:34those who helped them in the first place,
07:36and gave them their technology.
07:38But now we fast forward to 27,000 BBY.
07:41So just a couple of millennia before the movie,
07:44the Rakatans discovered the planet of Korriban,
07:46and the Sith.
07:47They had a bit of a clash,
07:49and the Sith really didn't like them.
07:50They drove them off-world.
07:52So instead,
07:53the Rakatans conquered a number of core worlds,
07:55including Coruscant.
07:56But then in 25,000 BBY,
07:59the decline of the empire began.
08:00There was a plague,
08:01a civil war,
08:03a stave uprising,
08:04and it brought the Rakatans to their knees.
08:06If that wasn't bad enough,
08:08a mutation caused the Rakatans to lose their connection to the force.
08:12Many populations were culled,
08:13and those who survived were forced to adapt,
08:16but their technology became inferior.
08:18The infinite empire finally collapsed.
08:20The survivors abandoned their conquests,
08:23and retreated to Rakata Prime,
08:25their home planet.
08:26And so this is where James Mangold's movie begins,
08:29after the fall of the Rakatans,
08:31long after their heyday.
08:32But,
08:33various factions of the Rakatans vied for dominance,
08:36over what was left.
08:37And this led to a Rakatan civil war,
08:39which almost wiped out the entire species.
08:42So,
08:42I don't know if the movie is going to allude to any of this,
08:45and if the Prime Jedi has to deal with Dark Side Force users,
08:47there could be some kind of Rakatan connection.
08:50But the Mangold movie is in the writing process,
08:53things are going very well.
08:54Like I said,
08:55the co-writer is one of the Andal writers,
08:57so I do have high hopes.
08:59The inclusion of Rakata Prime on the map
09:01does seem like a deliberate addition though.
09:03So maybe some conversations about what's going to be in the movie have happened,
09:06and the higher-ups at Lucasfilm are aware of it.
09:08What do you guys think?
