00:07The provincial forums are coming.

00:10The idea emerged a year ago within the framework of the Northeast Forum

00:14sponsored by Listin Diario and the Universidad Católica Nordestana, UCNI.

00:19It consisted of promoting a broad regional movement

00:22to commit the four northeastern provinces to a strategic integration plan.

00:26The objective is for these provinces, located in the same sub-region of the country,

00:32to work in unison on their development efforts for the first time.

00:36That is, for them to transcend their administrative borders

00:39and promote plans for the common benefit.

00:42For the resources and strengths of each province to be shared with the others

00:45in a dynamic of mutual cooperation.

00:49This vision was widely appreciated

00:50and as a result of the first major regional event,

00:54Listin Diario and the UCNE decided to take the next step.

00:59This is the holding of four provincial forums.

01:02With these, we aim to update the assessment of each district

01:05to articulate policies and strategies

01:07under the principle of unity and regional integration.

01:10The first will be held this Thursday in Nagua,

01:13followed in the coming weeks by the provinces of Hermanas Mirabal, Samana and Duarte.

01:17The most notable aspect is that these new forums will include other universities in the region,

01:23civil society institutions and the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development,

01:29which has provided support from the beginning as co-sponsors.

01:33Listin Diario believes in the maxim that unity is strength.

01:37That is why it firmly embraces the cause of regional integration in the northeast,

01:42hoping it will serve as an example and incentive for other areas of the country

01:47where the provinces share common realities.
