Movie review: Hoch watched the new Superman movie last night

00:00hawk before i get into uh sports headlines you mentioned that yesterday you went to go watch

00:04superman how how i imagine there was a long line right because it premiered last night no that was

00:10the thing so we get off the show at six i go on the ipic app now i can't imagine that this is a

00:15good sign for the superman movie i go on the ipic app and i see that there's some seats not great

00:24but like you know the ipic it's got the recliners they do the table service you know all that stuff

00:29so it was like row b but it's not horrible wasn't row a and uh so i i'm like i asked laurie and dj i'm

00:36like you guys want to go it starts at 6 30 like we could walk over right now okay so we walk over

00:42and even the seven o'clock showing had some seats available like it wasn't what you'd think on a

00:52summer blockbuster thursday night opening like it wasn't what you think i will tell you this though

00:58i could not have enjoyed it more it is in my opinion one of the best superhero movies i've ever

01:10seen wow really and you know i'm not a big superhero guy and i don't want to give away any

01:14spoilers i don't even want to talk about the vibe of the movie so i'm not going to all i'm going to

01:20tell you this about three nights before we went lee sterling sent me a text are you planning to see

01:28the superman movie with your family and i said yeah probably at some point like it wasn't anything

01:32that you know it was obviously last night like it was spur of the moment but i knew we'd see it at

01:36some point and he said i got to see a sneak preview at a theater down in miami don't waste your time he

01:43called it top five worst movie he's ever seen wow i get to the movie last night i text him a picture

01:51i go hey we're seeing superman and he texts me back he's like hey right when it's over text me your

01:56rating minus 10 to zero like he and so i'm so my expectations are low low i'm telling you from minute

02:07one i was enraptured and i didn't want the movie to end that's how good i thought it was

02:16wow that's because you you have a high well if it doesn't have to do with gambling you you like

02:23gambling movies but you have a high you have a high level i'm not one i'm not one who just says oh

02:28it's the greatest oh it's the greatest oh it's the greatest and i just loved it i would see it again

02:36tonight that's how much i love that movie we might have to go see it like i said we're going to

02:41tampa taking the kids to tampa dropping ava off at img yeah they'll love it well i want a spoiler

02:47because the only part of the movie the preview that i can't believe don't say anything i'm not i'm not

02:52talking about it you got to tell me how that little ass dog drugged that grown-ass man back home

03:32first of all i didn't know a super man movie was coming out until last night people start posting

03:38seated for superman uh zachary weinberger who covers the miami heat he was like seated for

03:43superman and then he posted hey like his review seven out of ten he thought it was entertaining but it

03:48was a bit flawed so then i saw alf alf last night posted saw superman thought it was good not great

03:54yeah uh but the the rotten tomatoes is like 82 this morning when i was just looking at that's good

04:01and i'm like all right well that's that's decent for a superhero movie um so i've never watched a

04:07superman movie ever like i i've never watched the original clark kent movie nothing the only thing i

04:12ever watched was smallville back when it was on tv so i i want to watch a superman movie i'll probably

04:18go watch this was a quintessential superman movie but that's all i'm saying that's i'm not i i don't

04:22want to say anymore because i know people want to see it and i don't want to do anything that could

04:25lead you anywhere but i'm telling you i loved it loved but here's the thing so we go to the eye

04:33pick guess a spur of the moment no joke guess how much it was the three of us me laurie dj

04:41three seats at the eye pick again it's the you know the the waiter and waitress service at your

04:49table and full dinners and whatever so three seats laurie and i both had chicken caesar wraps

04:57i know solana loves that that's his new thing for the summer it is dj had some sort of sound like a

05:04club sandwich or something i had a coke zero and i think laurie and dj had waters oh they also had

05:13a pretzels appetizer like a pretzel uh oh and dj and i both got popcorn and dj had a triple crown

05:21royal no i was thinking about getting that for all spritz but i figured now i want to concentrate on

05:26the crowd he kind of made it seem like they didn't get anything like oh no but now you guys had a

05:31meal we know so we each got we each got an entree flan flan how was your team having two desserts

05:39we got apple side guac

05:41bananas foster

05:51what in the world are y'all doing at the movies

05:57three entrees two popcorns one appetizer all right three tickets three dinners what do you think

06:09last night cost me eleven hundred um to two over two hundred dollars yeah two hundred and ten dollars

06:18yeah that's a lot of money huh that's crazy just like a spur of the moment hey let's go see a movie

06:23together but it's not ten dollars you know it was eighty dollars for the three movie tickets

06:29and then a hundred bucks you know and then the tip for the so it's 210 bucks but crowder if i'm if i'm

06:36going out to friday night tonight i'm gonna take my fiancee to a nice dinner i'll spend you know two two

06:42in miami wherever i understand that but in your mind in your mind though you go hey i'm going out to

06:47a nice restaurant in miami like you're like i'm just telling you i didn't complain about it but it is

06:52kind of shocking to go hey you want to go see superman yeah let's go see superman two hundred

06:56and ten dollars later but solana are you talking about like gecko and komodo and sexy fish are we

07:03talking about people you know you're not going to applebee's and spending two hundred dollars

07:08well hey chilies triple dipper i'll throw down four or five of those man no but my point is like i

07:14imagine at the ipick hawk the food you were getting the chicken caesar wraps i'm it's not gourmet but

07:20i'm sure it's good it's it's like terrible honestly the worst chicken caesar wrap and the

07:29thing was i wanted to eat healthy you remember i saw i remember i saw the national championship

07:34game at the ipick i'm not i don't want to disparage the ipick because i like that theater

07:37but i got the chicken caesar wrap when we saw the national championship game do you remember i came

07:42back and i was like the food was terrible like it was the driest chicken caesar wrap i'd ever had

07:47and i i you know i'm trying not to eat like super crappy because i did in chicago so i'm like all

07:55right i've got to even things out so they have a buffalo chicken wrap that's a july special

08:01so i said to the girl like which one's better she goes the buffalo chicken wrap is better

08:07and i i knew that because i'd had the caesar wrap before she goes but the buffalo chicken wrap is fried

08:13the chicken caesar wrap is grilled chicken uh healthy so i said okay give me the the chicken

08:20caesar wrap and then i said no fries can you can i can i get vegetables and she said yeah we have green

08:26beans perfect didn't even bring a fork so i ate green beans like french fries during the movie

08:34like just eating one green bean after another like french fries which by the way is not a substitute

08:41for fries i can tell you wonderful experience yeah yeah it was uh quite the but that the movie was so

08:49good i i just loved it from minute one i really did i just i absolutely loved it i don't want to tell

08:58you the reasons why i loved it so much because i think that might give stuff away so i'll save that for

09:03another day but yeah i uh anyway if you want to see me on sunday i'll be watching the world club uh

09:09club world cup championship there i got a chicken caesar i'm in roby tell me about the dog no no it's

09:15all i want to know go see the movie between me i just didn't know about nothing don't even worry

09:20about the dog the dog he says take me home and he's half dead the dog is a super dog i know it i see it in

09:29your eyes well i don't think that's a secret that's like saying i think superman can fly like

09:35i don't i don't think that's a secret the dog can fly too

09:38fans of superman know about the dog right that's what i'm saying i don't think that's a secret yeah

09:49no it's not you know it's not a spoiler yeah yeah so tell me the dog flies i'm not telling you

09:55anything i just told you i'm not do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth i just

09:59want to know i said i've seen is there a lot of superman movies i've seen way more batman movies

10:05than superman movies right so dc i don't think makes as many movies as marvel does but there were

10:09you know in the 80s the christopher reeve superman movies and then uh recently there were the what was

10:15the guy's name it was he was really good at it good looking white boy yeah pretty yeah i don't know

10:20his name the heck was the guy's name henry cavill yeah henry cahill cavill cavill hey cavill that's

10:28the recent guy that was fighting um um j-lo's ex-boyfriend really yeah when ben affleck was uh

10:37with batman batman versus superman oh oh oh i thought you meant real life

10:41they probably don't like each other they're too good looking they can't be in the same room

10:46hey lee sterling he doesn't know about movies and now he's telling me applebee's is possibly the

10:55worst chain still in business how dare you lee can't get a finer meal than your neighborhood

11:01applebee's applebee's down the road from the old studio yes my wife used to call it crapplebee's

11:09she used to i used to have to go there for like work when she was a pharmaceutical rep

11:13it was like the only thing in boyton in her area what'd you have for lunch crapplebee's

11:19they opened up those uh applebee's and ihop combo restaurants remember they opened up like the

11:30not really that's an interesting combo yeah we talked about it like i think we did yeah now that

11:35you're saying they still exist i think there's one or two in the united states like the first one

11:40opened up in texas and they're they're trying to expand them they opened some up in in europe as

11:44well in other countries i think applebee's like said to themselves hey is there any place that has

11:49worse service than we do and it was like ihop okay put them in the restaurants it'll make applebee's

11:54look that much better nothing beats those pigs in a blanket at ihop man holy mackerel walk in the club

12:04and stand next to the ugly guy make yourself the looker exactly what it is all right give us sports

12:14headlines so i uh i'm planning on going to see jurassic world rebirth by the way that's what i'm

12:20doing this well that was my real thought last night because you know none of us were doing anything

12:24last night and so i thought superman was going to be sold out and so we'd go see jurassic park

12:30rebirth which is just getting torched as one of the worst movies ever made which makes me want to

12:36see it that much more because they've all been garbage since the original two like garbage like

12:42just absolute garbage dominion and world minion from uh no the um jurassic park dominion jurassic world

12:53dominion yeah because they they did three remember that one three iterations of jurassic world i don't know

12:59i see it every time and it's it gets worse and worse and worse but that was my thought was

13:04superman was going to be sold out and so we'll go see jurassic world right but superman had tickets

13:09i gotta see this i love jurassic parks me too me too because they're terrible i like i like humans to be

13:18the prey it's weird asia tells me to like i like movies when humans are out of control and the animals or

13:26something just starts tearing their ass up

13:28could probably be like do like a psych eval on that by the way yeah there's a lot of psychoanalysis

13:39because we we always are in control and mess up everything in the world and pollute and and

13:45make things go extinct and then the animals swing it back on us i enjoy the change of power
