Baseball is singing to Tobin with an EXCITING way to start the show! The National League won the All Star Game last night in a swing off after it was tied 6-6 through 9 innings. Kyle Stowers hit a home run in the swing off then Kyle Schwarber hit three homers on all three of his swings. Should Major League Baseball scrap extra innings and adopt swing-offs for the regular season?

00:00You know, I just wish you guys would stop the quibbling.
00:15Ah, morning everybody!
00:19Hello Leroy.
00:21What's up?
00:22It's Tobin Leroy here with you.
00:24560 WQAM.
00:26Hello Brittany, good morning.
00:28Hello, good morning.
00:29We are streaming live on YouTube and Twitch.
00:31The channel, Miami 560 WQAM.
00:35I have to say, you know, they call me the creditor, okay?
00:41Old Tobes, he gives credit where credit's due.
00:44That's what I do.
00:46Okay.
00:46And I gotta tell ya, baseball.
00:53What?
00:54Hey, I am so Team Swing Off.
01:00It was fun.
01:01That was awesome.
01:03The coolest ending ever.
01:08I was sitting here, and by the way, I was completely surprised.
01:11I had no idea that they changed the rules.
01:13Nope.
01:14Me neither.
01:14I was sitting there, and I was like, because they had said, you know, they're down to the
01:19last pitcher.
01:20I was like, uh-uh.
01:21I was like, are we about to have ourselves a Milwaukee situation?
01:24We're about to get another tie?
01:26Nope.
01:27Nope.
01:28Guess what, dude?
01:30Swing Off.
01:31And I was like, oh?
01:33Swing Off?
01:35Really?
01:36And not only a Swing Off, but we got Kyle Stowers in the Swing Off.
01:42So we got to start off local.
01:45Now, he took a lot of pitches.
01:46But either way, the Swing Off.
01:49Genius.
01:50For those who didn't see it yesterday, the National League, who has been getting boat
01:55raced in this All-Star game for as long as I can remember, they used to dominate it.
02:00But since I was a wee lad, it's been Team National League for—it's been Team American
02:03League forever.
02:06They were up 6-0.
02:08And I was like, I guess I'm done with the All-Star game for tonight.
02:12And then I just kind of wander back, and I'm like, 6-4, eh?
02:16And so I start wild, I'm like, oh, this is getting a little dicey.
02:21Oh, it's 6-5.
02:24Infield hit, it's 6-6.
02:26And they're like—and they're out of pitchers.
02:29And I'm like, oh, no.
02:32They're like, no problem.
02:34We're going to have a resolution to this.
02:37Swing Off.
02:39Three hitters from each team.
02:41Three swings apiece.
02:43Most homers wins.
02:45I was like, I think I love this.
02:50I think I love this.
02:52And, man, I loved it.
02:56Because Stowers goes out there.
02:58He has to go up against Rooker from the A's, who hits two out of three.
03:02I was like, oof.
03:03And Kyle Stowers, they go to him.
03:05And I'm pretty sure Kyle Stowers was thinking to himself, me?
03:09Like, because Dave Roberts is like, I'm going with Kyle Stowers.
03:13And they go to Kyle Stowers.
03:14They're interviewing him before every one.
03:16And Kyle Stowers is like, I'm not going to lie.
03:18I'm pretty nervous.
03:21And you could tell.
03:23Because it took him one.
03:24But finally, hits a real piss whistle out of the park.
03:28Makes it to one.
03:29So we were within striking range, Leroy.
03:33Rosarena gets up there.
03:35He doesn't do so good.
03:36He gets him one.
03:37And then Schwarber gets up there three for three.
03:41Because that's all that dude does is hit tater tots.
03:44And it was exhilarating.
03:47They go up there.
03:48I forget who dude from the Rays was.
03:50He hit none.
03:51But that was it.
03:53Polar Bear didn't even have to hit.
03:55Swing off was over.
03:56It was a treat.
03:58I love it.
03:59We need to do this instead of stupid ghost runner.
04:02Who needs ghost runner?
04:03Maybe like one extra inning.
04:05We go nine innings.
04:07We play a regular 10th inning.
04:08And then swing off.
04:10Just like hockey.
04:12It's great.
04:14You go home satisfied.
04:16We figure this thing out.
04:17We play a little fake overtime.
04:18No winner.
04:19Shootout.
04:20Can I just say this?
04:23In all the years I've known you.
04:27This has been some of your most exciting moments here over this swing off.
04:32I loved it.
04:34I loved it.
04:36Who doesn't love?
04:37Because look.
04:38Forever and for always.
04:40Baseball was stuck in its ways.
04:42And it took a long time.
04:45Now I'd still like you guys to ease up on the stairway guys.
04:47But I'll take baby steps for right now.
04:50They are doing a lot of stuff to fix the sport.
04:53Okay.
04:54Shot clock.
04:56Pitch clock.
04:57Dude.
04:57Games are flying these days.
04:59Not now.
04:59Yesterday notwithstanding.
05:00That game took forever.
05:02But other than yesterday.
05:03Because they had all these ceremonies and changes.
05:07And you know.
05:07They were micing up the players.
05:09So it was a made for TV night.
05:11But baseball is flying.
05:13Okay.
05:15And yesterday.
05:16They did the second greatest thing.
05:18We saw this a little bit.
05:19When we were gambling on spring training.
05:21Well I was gambling on spring training.
05:22Leroy was judging me for gambling on spring training.
05:25Last night.
05:26They brought back.
05:28The strike zone challenge.
05:30Which now.
05:31I also think I love.
05:32Because everybody can challenge.
05:34Pitcher can challenge.
05:35Catcher can challenge.
05:37Pitcher can challenge.
05:38So what's the penalty?
05:40Are you just wrong?
05:41I don't know.
05:42You just got to be a penalty.
05:44So there's no random.
05:45Takes for.
05:46It's just like.
05:46It's just like tennis.
05:48They're done in a second.
05:49Stowers did it last night.
05:51He was wrong.
05:53Still struck out.
05:56He went.
05:57Boop boop.
05:58Nope.
05:58Caught a little bit of that edge.
06:00Still a strike.
06:01You're out Stowers.
06:02It was great.
06:04So we got robot umps.
06:05We got swing off.
06:07We got pitch clock.
06:09It's all happening for us baby.
06:12So needless to say.
06:14You were pretty entertained.
06:15I was very entertained.
06:17I was very entertained.
06:19You almost went to bed though.
06:21I was six nothing.
06:22It was six nothing.
06:24I wander back.
06:24I'm like six four.
06:26What happened?
06:27Come back in.
06:27Because I was in my team.
06:28I was watching in my living room.
06:30Go to my office for a second.
06:31Do a little typey type for us.
06:33And then all of a sudden.
06:34I'm like back.
06:34I'm like six four.
06:36Thought it was over baby.
06:37Typically all-star games.
06:38They're over.
06:39Because you know why?
06:40Usually you're bringing in like.
06:42Some pitcher that throws 200 miles an hour.
06:44They're not going to hit.
06:45Which by the way.
06:46I don't think I've ever seen as many.
06:47100 mile an hour pitches.
06:49That I've ever seen in my life.
06:51Everybody's just throwing a hundy.
06:52Like it's nothing.
06:53With movement.
06:54Yeah.
06:54It's just.
06:55I don't know how they're doing it.
06:56But they're just.
06:57They're all doing.
06:58Like I saw Chapman up there last night.
07:00Who has to be like 45 years old at this point.
07:02He's still pitching.
07:03And I was like Chapman.
07:04Remember when Chapman throwing 100 was a gimmick?
07:07Like they're like.
07:08You guys got to see this Chapman.
07:09He's throwing 100 every pitch.
07:11I'm like what?
07:12That's crazy.
07:13Now everybody does it.
07:14It's like the gimmick's over.
07:16Everybody's.
07:17If you throw.
07:17If you throw 96.
07:18You're a bum.
07:20It's nothing.
07:21Nothing.
07:21Like an 88 to 90 mile an hour slider.
07:25Yeah.
07:26It's crazy.
07:26Jeez.
07:27It's insane.
07:29But like.
07:30Seriously.
07:32Why don't.
07:33We bring swing off.
07:35To the regular season.
07:36Who's going to be upset about this.
07:38Let's be honest about it.
07:40And.
07:41We get.
07:41Somebody gets to go home.
07:42Says it.
07:43I remember having a conversation with Bob about this.
07:44I talked to Sergey Bobrovsky about the shootout.
07:46Because I was not a fan of the shootout.
07:47I'm like don't you think it's kind of a stupid way to lose.
07:51You know you have a great game.
07:52And you lose on a one-on-one.
07:55And Bob's just like.
07:56You know.
07:56And you know Bob.
07:57He's as serious as it gets about his hockey.
08:00Won't even.
08:00Like barely looks at the Stanley Cup.
08:02This man.
08:03He goes.
08:04It just makes the fans happy.
08:06Like.
08:06If Bob can think that.
08:09Then I can think it.
08:10Because he's the one who's losing on it.
08:12If he.
08:13If it goes.
08:14Like.
08:15He's like.
08:16It makes the fans happy.
08:17Like.
08:17Okay.
08:18If we're just sitting here.
08:20If I got.
08:21Fish Royals.
08:22Coming up on Friday.
08:24Should we play 18 innings?
08:26Should we put ghost runners?
08:27Or should we hit some bombskies?
08:30It would.
08:31It would make the game pretty exciting.
08:34Of course it does.
08:35Who hates this?
08:36It was so much fun yesterday.
08:38And I will not hear anything otherwise.
08:42That's it.
08:43That was my night.
08:45Wow.
08:46Sounds like a hell of a night.
08:47That was my night.
08:48Swing off.
08:51You're not in?
08:52I'm in.
08:53I like it.
08:54I like the enthusiasm.
08:55Would you do a swing off?
08:56Yeah.
08:57Would this bring you to baseball?
08:58I mean.
08:59Yeah.
08:59I think it would.
09:00I watched the end of the game last night.
09:03And I thought it was very entertaining.
09:05So I would consider it.
09:07But you're going to have a lot of pushback from older fans on that one.
09:09Who cares?
09:10They'll be gone soon.
09:11Yeah.
09:11Oh my goodness.
09:14No, no, no.
09:16Brittany, I don't say that to, you know, discourage people being old.
09:22I say that because this sport, especially baseball, has held on to these old ass rules and theories and whatever.
09:37Every other sport has moved forward with how they do things.
09:43Basketball with now the three-point shot.
09:46You either shoot a three or a layup.
09:47Nobody wants to see a mid-range.
09:49Right?
09:50Football with the wide-open passing.
09:53The quarterback throwing four million yards.
09:55So-called running back is, you don't need one.
10:00Right?
10:01They're all, like, trying to move forward with different ways to be productive.
10:08Baseball, up until maybe 10 years ago, wouldn't even consider it.
10:16Yeah.
10:16And guess what happened?
10:19It was hard to do.
10:201,500 in the stands.
10:22Yeah.
10:22Well, that was another strange thing yesterday.
10:24Where did everybody go?
10:27I was very confused by that, too.
10:28Did 6-0 just scare everybody off?
10:30Because it looked like by the end of that All-Star game, it looked like a Marlins game on a Wednesday.
10:35Really?
10:35I was very confused by that.
10:37I'm like, wait a minute.
10:38Like, aren't, isn't this an expensive ticket?
10:40Like, don't you want to stick around a little bit?
10:42I'm guessing 6-0 scared everybody off.
10:44And they were just like, we saw the Hank Aaron tribute.
10:46We're out of here.
10:46See ya.
10:48See.
10:49You know?
10:49If I'm going to an All-Star game, final pitch.
10:53I feel like it, right?
10:54I feel like the whole thing.
10:57Like, if I go to a Super Bowl, final clock hits zero.
11:02I was very confused by it.
11:03I was like, where is it?
11:05Even a blowout, if the Heat are in the finals and they're getting blown out and getting ready to lose the series, I'm not leaving.
11:12It's the finals.
11:13Yeah.
11:14It's like, did everybody just come to say hi to Freddie Freeman?
11:16It's like, Freddie, you're back.
11:17All right.
11:17We can go now.
11:18I was like, where is everybody?
11:20They kept doing the aerial shots.
11:21Nobody was there.
11:21I feel like how I'm out.
11:22But we can go now.
11:23We can go now.
11:23But we can go now.
11:23We can go now.
11:24We can go.
11:25We can go, get that out for anothercast.
11:25We can go now.
11:25We can go.
11:27Let's be right in there.
11:28We can go over this centre.
11:29Let me go.
11:29Let me go.
11:30Let me do that.
11:30Let me go.
