00:00Hi there. Unlike the last two heatwaves, this one is much more widespread across the UK,
00:07encompassing most of the country. And you can see on Friday afternoon the widespread nature
00:13of the sunshine. Just some low cloud there for Shetland. One or two patches around. A few coastal
00:19areas elsewhere, for example, eastern Butts, Northern Ireland, Eastern England, and the
00:22south coast. But these will be very isolated. And for the vast majority, it's simply cloud-free
00:28skies, very strong sunshine at high temperatures, widely the mid to high 20s, and up to the
00:33low 30s across the central and western parts of the UK. West Midlands, East Wales, seeing
00:39the peak, but cooler down the east coast. And it's towards the east coast where we'll see
00:44some patchy low cloud and mistiness return overnight. This will be very tenuous. It's not going to
00:50affect everyone, but there will be some patches creeping inland by dawn. Elsewhere across the
00:56UK, it's clear, but it's very warm overnight. Widely the high teens, and in some spots towards
01:02the west, especially over the hills of western and northwestern Scotland, temperatures not
01:06dipping below 20 or 21 Celsius. We start the day, though, with some of that mist and low
01:13cloud affecting eastern coasts. Much of it will drift offshore once again, but a few patches
01:18will remain, keeping things cooler. And this onshore breeze will keep it cooler in the east
01:23and southeast compared with the last two heatwaves, but come further west, and that's where the
01:27highest temperatures will be. We're talking about widely up to 29 or 30 Celsius across
01:34Northern Ireland into Scotland. Scotland could see 31 or even 32 Celsius in some of the hotter
01:41spots towards the southwest and perhaps the Murray coast. But elsewhere, it's going to be even
01:47hotter. Western England, southwest Midlands, east Wales, the west country, seeing 31, 32
01:53Celsius widely, a chance of 33 or 34 degrees. So the hot spot there, somewhere like Gloucestershire,
02:00for example. But the east coast, like I say, feeling a little bit cooler because of the mist,
02:06the cloud, and that breeze coming from the North Sea. Then on Saturday night, we will see some of that
02:13mist and low cloud come back in again, again, patchy in nature. It will be very tenuous and fickle.
02:19Elsewhere across the UK, clear skies and another very warm night to come. Once again, temperatures
02:24in some spots not below 20 Celsius. Into Sunday, there will be more cloud in the sky because of
02:29a system moving in from the west and another system moving in from the east. But by Monday,
02:34after a mostly dry and another hot day on Sunday, Monday sees low pressure return, bringing cooler air,
02:40but also an increased chance of showers, longer spells of rain and some thunderstorms, particularly
02:47for Northern Ireland and Scotland, although showers could crop up just about anywhere. So
02:51all change into next week. This weekend, though, sees the peak of the heat.
