00:00Hi there.
00:01Following a relatively brief, cooler and more mixed spell across the UK, low pressure is
00:06now departing, high pressure is arriving once again and as a result we're going to see increased
00:12dry sunny weather across the UK once again and day by day temperature rises.
00:18One difference later this week compared with the last couple of hot spells is that the
00:22higher temperatures will be more widespread up and down the country, not just restrict
00:26the south and the east.
00:27For the time being though, we do have some cloud across Western Scotland and Northern
00:31Island moving in through the afternoon and some outbreaks of rain further south, sunny
00:35spells and feeling warm low to mid-twenties in places.
00:38Any remaining showers clearing away from the east coast however, as low pressure moves away
00:43and we're going to see a clear night at first across central and eastern parts of England
00:47but further north and west, cloud thickens, that cloud coming from the Atlantic, weak frontal
00:52zones bringing patchy rain and drizzle for Northern Ireland, Western Scotland and North
00:56West England.
00:58And under that cloud it's going to be a milder night, 14 or 15 Celsius typically, a little
01:02bit cooler towards the south east but again a little bit milder compared to the last couple
01:07of nights.
01:08Sunny skies for the south and the east first thing Wednesday but a lot of cloud elsewhere
01:13actually.
01:14It is a mostly cloudy start to the day.
01:16The weak frontal zone in the north west will continue to bring outbreaks of light rain and
01:20drizzle to the north and west of Scotland.
01:22Some low cloud around coasts but elsewhere across the UK it brightens up.
01:26It's mostly dry into the afternoon and it's turning warmer.
01:29Day by day temperature rises are expected through the rest of the week, 26 to 28 Celsius in some
01:34of the hotter spots across central parts of the UK.
01:39It's even warmer across northern areas as the cloud breaks up and fronts push further north.
01:46And that's because we've got higher pressure building in from the south west.
01:50This extension of the Azores high moves into the UK and as you can see by Thursday and Friday
01:56it's becoming widespread across the country and that's going to lead to day by day temperature
02:02rises.
02:03And with a slight easterly airflow setting up through Friday and the weekend, actually it's
02:08not the south east where we'll see the highest temperatures.
02:11It's more towards the north and the west, certainly compared with what we'd normally expect at
02:16this time of year.
02:17The biggest anomalies compared with climate will be across the far north and west of the
02:22UK.
02:23And we're talking about widely temperatures in the high 20s and low 30s.
02:28So yeah, increasingly warm if not hot in many places by the end of the week and into the
02:33weekend.
02:34High pressure bringing plenty of sunshine although there will be some misty low cloud around
02:37certain coasts.
02:38Bye-bye.
