00:00Hi there, we're going to see a day-by-day build in temperatures through this week and
00:05into the weekend because of an increasing spell of settled weather and high pressure
00:11dominating things. At the moment, high pressure extends into southern parts of the UK and
00:16that means we do still have some frontal systems toppling into northern areas, bringing cloud
00:20for Northern Ireland and much of Scotland, particularly the central belt northwards.
00:24And then we've got these outbreaks of rain through Orkney, northwest mainland Scotland
00:28and the Outer Hebrides. That's going to make it feel cool, but where we've got the sunny spells
00:32further south, 25, 26 Celsius possible. So warm and certainly temperatures a few degrees above
00:40average for the time of year and those temperatures are only going to increase over the coming days.
00:45Clear spells though across much of England and Wales overnight. That's going to allow some mist
00:49and fog to develop, particularly in the south. A different story further north where the cloud
00:53tends to thicken across Scotland and Northern Ireland into northern England. Outbreaks of rain
00:57slipping south and winds picking up across northwest Scotland with the risk of gales in some exposed
01:04areas. Some rain, heavy at times, will move through the central belt first thing and then
01:09it will sink into southern Scotland, parts of northwest England as well as Northern Ireland.
01:14It's tending to fizzle out as this front moves into high pressure, which will continue to dominate
01:18across the southern half of the UK. Sunny skies after that early fog disappears and another warm
01:24day with 26 or even 27 Celsius possible. Cooler further north and west, mid to high teens.
01:31Showers into the north and northwest of Scotland. Not quite as blustery as Monday and Monday night.
01:37Then we've got this weak front just becoming trapped under an area of high pressure. So a zone of
01:41cloudier skies for much of Wales into Northern England, parts of the Midlands, tending to break up
01:46overnight as high pressure builds in. And that's going to build in from the south, becoming extensive
01:52across the UK, although still some outbreaks of rain possible in the far north and northwest.
01:57And then by Thursday, that high pressure is starting to migrate to the east. And that allows eventually,
02:03into the weekend, temperatures to rise from the south even further. So initially,
02:08the day-by-day temperature increase through the working week is because we've got high pressure
02:12and spells of sunshine. And then the possibility through the weekend of even higher temperatures
02:17arriving from the south. And we're talking about temperatures into the low 30s by Saturday. So
02:24a spell of heat on the way by the weekend. Temperatures rising each day. High pressure bringing
02:31long spells of sunshine. And of course, we've got the summer solstice on Saturday. So UV levels are
02:36going to be high or very high in places. Pollen will be high through the week. So watch out for
02:41both of those aspects if you're spending long periods of time outdoors.
